CHAPTER 76: The Mermaid Princess

A few hours after Vivi confirmed that Jon was dating her, everything started to get normal. Well, except for Sanji who always looks at Jon with an angry and jealous look. Jon just asks Nami to tell Vivi that he is fine, so he won't worry too much.

In the afternoon, the crew decided to sail again and Jon was finally able to stand up and walk after he drank a bottle of milk, but he could not train or fight. Even Jon did not believe his body could heal this fast. It was very abnormal on earth, but maybe it was normal in this world. He even recovered from the freezing within 2 days, so maybe healing his bones by drinking milk was normal.

"Woah, I didn't know that I only needed to drink milk when my bones were broken." - Jon

"really? I told you it would work." - Luffy

"That's right, I've done it many times, yohohoho." - Brook

They walk to the ship, and it seems Nami knows Lola and they talk as if they are close friends.

"You're so excited." - Sanji

They all then looked at the treasure for something they liked. They had done so as well with what they had found earlier in the Rainbow Mist. But nothing had caught their attention before. But now it seemed like something was catching Luffy's attention. It was an armband with glass ornaments, and he immediately picked it up.

Nami wasn't stingy because they had a lot of treasure and money. They have not sold everything, and only sold some. After they finished seeing the treasure, they wanted to continue sailing and Lola gave him a piece of paper named Vivre Card. Luffy then remembers that Ace gave him something similar and took it out, but it caught fire.

"It's bad, if the vivre card is burned, it means the life of the owner is in danger." - Lola

They were all shocked and looked at Luffy. If Luffy wanted to save Ace, then they would follow him even if it was dangerous.

"It's okay, we have our own adventures, Ace has his own adventures. He wouldn't like it if I came and interfered in his adventure. I'm sure he'll be fine too." - Luffy

"Are you sure Luffy?" - Zoro

Then they continued sailing towards Fish-Man Island. Jon only rests to recover himself, he focuses on studying books on chakra, hand seals, fuinjutsu, and many more theoretical sciences, including medical ninjutsu.

He wanted to learn medical ninjutsu after he was severely injured this time and needed to rest for a few days. At least he wanted to be able to heal himself from the injury. Altough Chopper can provide treatment but still takes time to heal. At least by studying medical ninjutsu, he could help heal wounds faster.

Of course Jon still uses his shadow clones to learn many lessons at once. But he and his clones just lay idle and read their books. He also stored chakra in the Yin Seal as it was very useful, and now he had more chakra.

As Jon lounges, the crew also does what they like. Sanji finally accepts the fact that Jon & Vivi are dating, though tough he remains jealous of Jon. Luffy, Chopper & Usopp were playing around as usual. Franky tried to make some new tools. Nami is relaxing with Robin and being served by her servant, Sanji. Zoro had started his training agi even when Chopper banned him, so Jon talked to him.

"Stop Zoro, you haven't fully recovered, training now will only destroy your body, not make it stronger." - Jon

"But I'm still weak, I can only scratch it by accident." - Zoro

"Me too, but what if we meet someone strong on the next island? If your body has not healed by then, you will only hinder us, so rest and heal yourself first! You can train your mind and chakra instead of hurting your body like this. I'm not opening up your chakra pathways so you can hurt your body." - Jon

The next day, Jon decides to ask Brook to teach him how to play music. He wanted to play earth music, and play it for Vivi as well. He never had the chance to learn music, at most he sang some songs with his low musical taste. She wants to play some good romantic music for her love of life, at least once.

Brook happily taught him, and he of course started with notes. Brook even wrote a note and gave it to Jon. Jon studied it with great joy, it was his refresh after learning all about ninjas all day. Brook also let him try out the tones in his piano. Jon continued to play the piano for days until one day, they encountered a problem.

They discovered a strange phenomenon where the sea water became like a snake. A current shot up from the sea and jumped over the area. Nami tries to find a way, while the others defend the ship from the water snake. Jon used only senbons and paper bombs while sitting on a chair. He cannot run away before he recovers.

Sometime later, Nami finds a way out and they climb over the water snake. Then Franky used the Coup de Burst to fly away from this place. After landing, they continued their journey. Nothing happened again for a few hours until they saw a high red wall.

"Here, the red line." - Sanji

"Heeh, this is very nostalgic." - Luffy

"The log was pointed straight down, Fish-Man Island must be right below us. But we don't know how to get there." - Nami

They were looking for a way to reach Fish-Man Island, but there was no clue at all. Franky then tells them that they have a submarine and can use it to search for clues underwater. Luffy, Robin, and Brook decide to use the submarine even with everyone's objections. The three of them were demon fruit users, if anything happened then they would not be safe.

But nothing could stop Luffy's stubbornness and they could only give up. Then the submarine dived in to search for clues to Fish-Man Island, and continued to report the situation to those on board. They found nothing even up to 5000 meters below sea level. But the submarines couldn't withstand the pressure anymore, so they had to retreat.

When they returned, they suddenly saw a seabird following them and trying to eat it. They moved quickly and finally came out of the sea. They returned to Sunny and suddenly the sea water that followed them came out. His appearance was like a rabbit, but Luffy did not care and attacked him with a rifle in the stomach.

Seaking spat something out of his mouth and fell onto the deck of the ship. They all gathered to see him, and they were shocked. It's a mermaid, and a young one. Sanji was instantly happy and even stated this was the first time he had seen a mermaid. But Usopp slapped him with reality as he reminded Sanji of Grandma Kokoro.

"Thriller Bark? It wasn't scary at all, the scary thing was-" Sanji

"Well all right, this is the first time you've seen a mermaid, right Sanji?" - Usopp

"Eh, Grandma Kokoro is a mermaid?" - Luffy

"Yes." - Jon

"Imagining Grandma Kokoro as a mermaid is disgusting." - Luffy has a 'dirty' expression on his face.

"YOU'RE SO RUDE!" - Nami

"Why do they think mermaids are always young girls, how will they have children if they remain young, yare yare dazed." - Jon

The mermaid suddenly shouted and she seemed to be afraid of humans. But in a short time he forgot about it and interrupted as usual with them. Then he was frightened when he saw Brook, but he recovered quickly like before.

"Either his determination is strong or he's just the relaxed type of person." - Jon

The mermaid's name was Caimie and she was almost eaten by the sea water. He also introduced a starfish named Pappag. It was his pet but also his teacher, very strange. It's even weird that a normal starfish can talk like a human. But they had already seen many strange things so it was no longer too surprising.

"Hey Pappag, do you have any sponge friends?" - Jon

"Huh? No, why?" - Pappag

Jon immediately felt sad and sat back down. The crew talked to Caimie and Pappag for a while until Caimie said she wanted to repay their help with Takoyaki, but she asked for payment, and Pappag replied to her. Jon laughed heartily at this girl, she was just an awkward young girl

"Then I'll call my friend who owns Takoyaki stall, Hachin." - Caimie

Caimie called Hatchin but the one who took the mushi denden was not Hachin. It's someone named Makuro and he has captured Hachin, and he's going to sell it. Makuro says if Caimie wants to save Hachin, she must take him to the Flying Fish Rider headquarters.

'Sell her? Is it human beings, isn't it, fish trafficking?' - Jon

Pappag then took a map from Caimie's backpack. This is a map of the Shabaody Islands, and he shows the route from Shabaody to the rider camp. Jon tries to remember where he read about Shabaody, but he doesn't remember, so he asks about the system.

[Shabaody Islands, located near the Red line and under the Holy Land: Mary Geoise. Famous for legal human trafficking because World Nobles often bought their slaves there.]

'Hmm, we have to be careful in that place. I think we should go there first before going to Fish-Man Island. Just like when we have to go to Jaya before we go to Pulau Langit.' - Jon

The crew decides to help Hachin, mainly because Luffy wants to eat takoyaki and Nami wants Caimie to tell how they can reach Fish-Man Island. They sailed but moments later there were 3 flying fish flying towards them. There are riders of the fishes, they are Riders of the Flying Lkan.

They tried to attack the crew by dropping bombs, but were easily defended. But then the rider suddenly left and did not attack again. So they continued sailing and a short while later, they arrived at the base. It's like a village built on the sea. It was shaped like a circle and surrounded by walls.

The place was very quiet with nothing in sight, but there was a cage hanging in front. Inside the cage, there was a person in black being tied up looking at them. Caimie asks something and makes sure that she is Hachin. Nami felt familiar with the voice and Sanji asked something to confirm it.

"Hey, is Arlong okay?"

"Arlong? He and the others were captured by the marines and put in jail. But I was able to escape and now become a takoyaki chef." - Hachi

Nami finally confirms that it was Hachi who attacked her village along with Arlong's pirate crew. They won't help him because he's Nami's enemy. But Caimie and Pappag still want to save him. They dove into the sea without a plan and were immediately captured. Hachi tries to save them and desperately hits the cage. Seeing Hachi like that, Nami finally decided to help.

"It's okay, let's help him, Hachi isn't actually a bad guy. Besides, we promised Caimie." - Nami

The crew finally decided to help them.
