Chapter 269 The Substitution of Unexpected Events
Sylphie already had various wounds all over her body, but the fighting intent in her eyes did not disappear. Instead, those emerald green eyes were flashing with an even more intense light as the battle continued.
“This little girl is crazy! Just hand over the cursed token so we can leave you alone!” Shouted the skinny man to Sylphie. He was getting annoyed with his strong determination. If not for Lu Sulan's warning of killing other suitors, he would have already used his killing technique against this damned woman!
The leader watched the battle between his two friends and Sylphie in surprise. She found it hard to believe that a little girl was actually able to defend against her friends. Even though those people looked pitiful and dishonest, they still came from famous families outside of the Silver Wing Kingdom and they had access to valuable resources.
The name of the leader is Jon. His eyes flashed as he recalled his difficult childhood. Jon could see himself in Sylphie and this made him smile.
“Troy, Hans! Le's go! Just leave him alone. We don't have much time to linger here.” Jon yells at his friends as he walks towards Sylphie.
“Bos, come! He's done! Give us more time!” Hans, the skinny man begged Jon, but he only received the latter's cold gaze.
Sylphie could barely stand up, but she refused to faint even in that state. This made Jon admire him even more.
Sylphie was quite surprised that the two thugs actually stopped fighting her when she was already on the verge of defeat. He looked at the leader walking towards him with a wary look. This man was able to command his opponent to stop fighting him with just a few words. He wondered what this man was doing.
Jon stuffed his right hand into his pocket and took out something before he extended his hand to Sylphie.
The girl quickly raised her sword when she saw Jon's strange actions, but this only made the man laugh out loud. “Girl, I'm sorry for hurting you so much. We had no choice because this was part of the assessment. I admire your determination, so I will retreat here with my friends.”
Sylphie could not believe what she heard and she was at a loss for words. This dirty looking man was actually quite respectable…
“It. Take this as our compensation.” Jon grabbed Sylphie's trembling hand and placed something in her palm. He smiled at her before leaving.
“Girl, if you manage to pass all three assessments, just look for me when you need something.” Jon waved his hand without looking back.
Sylphie stared at their figure who left with complicated emotions. He then looked at her hand and was astonished by what she saw. That's a sign! There was also a piece of healing pill and it did not look cheap either!
She almost cried over this unexpected generosity, but she was too tired for it.
Without a doubt, Sylphie consumed the healing pills and kept the token for herself. He now had three tokens and this made him feel happy.
“I will not forget this kindness.” Mumbled as he looked towards where he last saw Jon's group.
Unbeknownst to him, there was the silhouette of a woman standing on a tree just a hundred meters away from him. “Hmph! At least those people were not entirely embarrassing! Since there is nothing more to see here, I have to go find my brother and the others.”
Holy hooch!
The shadow disappeared in an instant…
“Master Sect, emperor requests audience with you.” Xia Xinyue's voice could be heard outside her room.
Jiu Shen calmly sat in his chair when he heard Xia Xinyue's words and said. “Bring him in.”
Crunched.
Xia Xinyue walked into the room with the emperor following behind her.
Emperor Elyk looked at the man who was still sitting quietly on the chair even before him. If it was anyone else, he would have already felt offended, but the man in front of him was different.
“Master Jiu Shen Sect, congratulations on the successful establishment of your sect and also on the successful recruitment!” Emperor Elyk smiled as he looked at Jiu Shen's expressionless face.
“Elyk, I know you're not here just to say these words. Just tell me what made you come here.” Jiu Shen said indifferently.
Emperor Elyk chuckled at his words and replied. “Master Jiu Sect, the Alliance sent four of their Alliance Heads to come here including Alliance Head Situ. They were present during the opening ceremony of your sect and they were eager to see you, but we were unable to find you after that. I hope you can come with me to the castle and bless us with your presence.”
“I'm not interested in meeting those kids.” Jiu Shen refused in a calm tone.
The word ‘anak’ rang inside the emperor's head like the clink of a bell. Only Jiu Shen could speak like this to such people. Thinking about it, the emperor could only smile wryly.
Emperor Elyk was already expecting Jiu Shen's refusal especially since his Heavenly Sword Tower was still in the midst of recruitment.
“Then, I'll go. I'm sorry for bothering you, Sect Master Jiu.” Emperor Elyk said in a slightly sad tone.
“Wait. Before you go, take this with you and give it to the young ones. I can sense that the devil is planning something and when the time comes, this might come in handy.” Jiu Shen said as he flicked the cube-like object to the emperor.
Emperor Elyk grasped the thing with a surprised expression. He looked at her and felt a powerful force hidden within as he injected his true essence into the item.
“Master Jiu Sect, this is..” The Emperor does not know what this strange thing is, so he can only glance at Jiu Shen curiously, saying, but the man just looked at her with an indifferent gaze.
“When the time comes you need to use its power, just destroy the cube. Now go.” Jiu Shen waved his hand and chased away the emperor as if he was a troubling fly.
Emperor Elyk gratefully lowered his head before leaving the room.
Even when he was already outside the sword tower, he still continued to look at the cube-like thing Jiu Shen had given him.
“What is this? Maybe I should ask my parents and the Alliance Head. They might know what this thing is.” He muttered before storing the cube inside his outer space ring.
