Ch.128 - Forest

Fu Chen ran as fast as he could to avoid Wong Pei's pursuit. He was carrying a 20-year-old woman who was none other than Su Anna.

Fu Chen had actually not actually bounced back during the previous clash of energies, he had deliberately jumped backwards to trick Wong Pei as well as speeding up his movements to grab Su Anna.

Dou Huang had actually not expected that Fu Chen would make such a decision. He had thought Fu Chen was going to fight it out with the King's swordsman, but it seemed that this disciple was not too stupid to judge the situation.

Fu Chen jumped from one branch to another, breaking through the cold of the early morning night. His movements were very fast, the distance of 100 meters he could travel was less than ten seconds.

Fu Chen stopped on a large tree branch, his breathing began to falter as he had exerted all his strength since earlier. Fu Chen glanced at Su Anna's face for a moment, the woman appeared unconscious, probably because Fu Chen had taken her too quickly.

"Ugh. My body is starting to hurt." Fu Chen descended down, he laid the woman's body on the ground while he would stand guard while recuperating.

Fu Chen did not know what to do when this woman woke up, but it felt impossible for her to leave the person she had helped just like that.

Luckily Fu Chen did not receive any deep wounds that were severe enough to make his healing process possible quickly. With the help of the healing pill Fu Chen was able to recover his body in just an hour.

It was not until there that Fu Chen took some resources from the Earth ring to restore his qi energy that was drained.

The cold night passed quickly, Fu Chen opened his eyes as he felt the sun start to appear. The young man stretched his body for a moment while observing Su Anna, the woman had still not woken up from her sleep so far.

Fu Chen then immediately looked for some dried twigs to use as firewood. Perhaps the delicious aroma of the roast can wake the woman up.

"Emmh.." Su Anna sighed softly as her face was exposed to the radiance of the sun, her consciousness had yet to fully gather but her faint eyes caught a young man sitting not far from her.

He woke up, pulled his legs and crawled backwards to get away from the young man. His face was a little pale and panicked, thinking that he was still being held back by the herd of warriors before.

"Just calm down, you're safe now…"

Su Anna blinked her eyes many times in order for her gaze to become clear. He slightly lowered his vigilance when he found out that the person was the young man he had seen in the restaurant.

"You... How can you live?" Su Anna raised her eyebrows, it was clear that the young man had been killed by the swordsman who kidnapped him while at the restaurant.

"The story is quite long," Fu Chen replied, still busy with his grilled meat.

"Emh... Where is this? What happened to the kidnappers?" Su Anna watched the surroundings, the forest was quite dense and filled with large trees. He had never seen a place like this before.

"I don't know where this is either, so better fill your stomach first. I'll tell you the details later." Fu Chen offered a piece of roasted meat that had matured, thanks to the spices that Fu Chen had sprinkled, the scent from the meat was increasingly tempting.

"Ah no need, I don't want to eat-"

"Kruuug…!"

Su Anna widened her eyes, her face started to turn red when she heard that voice. His stomach really can't work together.

"Don't refuse it, your stomach is already screaming for this food, take it." Fu Chen chuckled softly.

Su Anna lowered her head to hide her blushing face, slowly she started to approach Fu Chen and grabbed the meat.

"No need to hold back, no one sees you here." Fu Chen shook his head softly when he saw the way the woman ate, even he still had time to ask about the small knife and fork to cut the meat.

"Recycle that food, I'll find some water" Fu Chen said before leaving.

Su Anna actually slightly distrusted the young man, as some of his soldiers who were the rank of first and second-rate warriors could not even fight the kidnappers.

After some time searching, Fu Chen returned with a little water. It was quite difficult to search for water around this forest, they also seemed to be unable to linger in this place.

"How are you doing?" fu Chen asked as Su Anna had finished her meal.

"Emmh better," Su Anna replied softly, "Can you explain what really happened last night?"

Fu Chen took a breath for a moment, he was sure Su Anna already knew the exact aftermath of his events so he would just say some information came out of Wong Pei's mouth.

"Before that, did you know who Mayor Hong worked for?"

Su Anna slightly raised an eyebrow, "I know Mayor Hong works for the Huang family, because that family is the one who takes care of Dianxi City. He was ordered to be mayor five years ago."

Fu Chen nodded as he crossed his hands in front of his chest, "So that's it…"

"What are you asking?" ask Su Anna back.

"It should be from that information alone that you're already aware of what's really going on." Fu Chen sighed softly, he felt no need to interfere with this matter any further. After he had told Su Anna all the information, she would be out of hand.

Su Anna knitted her brows, but after a while thought she still did not understand Fu Chen's words. "What do you mean the Huang family is also involved in this matter?"

"Yes, the Huang Nobles family is unlikely to let go of any of their sources of income easily. I'll bet on this."

"Do you have any proof? If I were to report this information, there might be a dispute between the Su family and the Huang family." Su Anna looked at Fu Chen full of probing, she suspected this young man was intending to pit the two families.

"It's up to you to believe it or not, but what you went through last night is more than enough to be proof. You should've heard those guys talk last night, too."

Su Anna pondered again, if she thought logically it all sounded reasonable, but she did not want to draw a conclusion that could divide the noble family of the Song Empire.

"Where are you going?" su Anna asked as she realized Fu Chen was already intending to leave.

"I'll find a way to get out of this forest, keep quiet here until I return later," Fu Chen replied briefly.

"Huh really, can you leave a woman alone in a forest like this?" Su Anna slightly snorted, she immediately got up and walked towards Fu Chen as the young man simply ignored her.

Su Anna felt awkward about this situation, where she simply tailed behind Fu Chen without saying a word. They had been tracing this forest for almost an hour but they still had not found a way out.

"Can we stop first, my legs are starting to hurt." Su Anna complained, her whole life she had never walked this far.

Fu Chen sighed for a moment, then immediately looked for a suitable place to rest. He himself was quite confused to find a way out of this forest, because when entering it he did not have time to leave a trace.

"What's your name?" ask Su Anna for a little pleasantry. This young man was much quieter than he thought.

"Just call Fu Chen," the young man replied, he also remembered that he had not introduced himself.

"Fu Chen.." Su Anna muttered, "good name," he continued with a gentle smile.

The two then talk to each other to fill time. Fu Chen listened more because the woman was excited enough to tell about her life as a noble.

From that conversation, Fu Chen discovered that Su Anna was actually quite innocent in some way to make Fu Chen wonder why this woman was sent to take care of such a serious matter.

'Where did the teacher go? His voice has not been heard since last night…'
