Legend of the Heavenly Swordsman

Legend of the Heavenly Swordsman
Ch.155 - Birthday

Mu Lien had been observing the surroundings and Fu Chen's luggage. But he saw nothing but the white horse on which the young man was resting.

The horse was even more gallant when compared to his. Mu Lien guessed Fu Chen had quite a distinguished background.

"Sorry to interrupt your break Mr. Chen, the music you're playing is so beautiful. It makes me wonder who's playing it." Mu Lien started a conversation with Fu Chen.

"Can I rest here too? It's getting late, I'm afraid something bad will happen if I continue to travel."

"Just relax, I also brought some food. You can take it if you want," Mu Lien continued with a gentle smile.

"But Miss-" the leader of the bodyguard stopped his words as Mu Lien stared at him sharply.

Fu Chen only smiled faintly while shaking his head. Perhaps Mu Lien guessed that Fu Chen was starving because he was seen not carrying any items.

"Mr Chen, I'm sorry to offend you, but I didn't see any of your luggage. What the hell's been going on?" Mu Lien was worried that Fu Chen had just been snatched away or was being stopped by bandits.

Since there was no settlement near them, at least for a child of Fu Chen's age, he needed some bodyguards and supplies to pass through the forest.

"It's not what you think Miss Mu. I can find food on the way." Fu Chen replied.

Mu Lien raised an eyebrow, thinking in her head that Fu Chen was a traveller who relied on his musical ability to survive.

Mu Lien's age was actually not much different from Fu Chen's, therefore he did not yet have a broad view of the outside world.

Fu Chen returned to play his flute due to Mu Lien's request, but the song he played was different because the previous song was special for the father.

"Mr Chen, will you come with me to Lianing City? I was planning to attend my sister's birthday party there…"

Mu Lien offered Fu Chen to play some songs to fill the show. With Fu Chen's abilities, Mu Lien was sure that many people would be amused.

"Sorry Miss, but you seem to have misunderstood. I'm not a poet, it's just a hobby. So I'm not sure if they'll enjoy it."

Fu Chen actually had no problem with the offer, yet he did not want this group of Nobles to even hinder his journey.

Fu Chen slightly explained his reason upon seeing Mu Lien's gloomy face, "If I have time I will accept miss's offer. Our goals are the same anyway."

"really?" Mu Lien's face shone again.

Fu Chen only smiled gently, what a simple girl he thought.

The guards observing them also heaved a sigh of relief. They were worried how to explain it to the higher-ups if Fu Chen accepted Mu Lien's offer.

The night was getting late and people started to sleep, but as usual Fu Chen was unable to sleep when there were strangers around.

"Yes later." Fu Chen muttered. "If I remember, it should have been my birthday a few days ago."

Now that Fu Chen was 11 years old, there was nothing to celebrate because it signaled the time was getting narrower to realize his father's dream.

Before the sun actually rose, Fu Chen had spurred his horse to continue the journey. He left behind a piece of meat that had been cooked for the breakfast of Mu Lien and his men.

Mu Lien came back lethargic, he thought he could give Fu Chen a good impression, yet it seemed like the young man had sealed his heart shut.

Mu Lien did not even think Fu Chen's cooking was much more delicious than the cuisine of his guards.

"How dare that brat make our lady put on a face like that!" Grunts one of the guards.

With the speed of his horse, it should be that Mu Lien's entourage would not be able to catch up with him. Despite having encountered several demons and ferocious beasts, all of them did not dare to attack Fu Chen when the young man unleashed his aura.

After a few days he found a village and decided to spend the night there. The horse he was riding also looked exhausted.

Fu Chen did not want to interact much with the people there, he simply left his horse at the inn and immediately reserved a room for rest.

Given the size of the cave that was quite large, Fu Chen felt that he had to find the right time to take it out.

While descending to eat, Fu Chen noticed the strangeness of the waiter there while looking at him. They looked dazed and pale, some even trying to avoid Fu Chen.

Fu Chen only shrugged for a moment and ate his breakfast. Fu Chen could not help but ask when he was about to pay for his food.

"What's going on? Is there something wrong with me?" fu Chen asked while narrowing his eyes.

"Bu-not so sir.." the waiter began to panic, you could say Fu Chen had paid a fortune to just stay overnight.

"My horse you have been…"

Fu Chen only let out a long sigh seeing that the servant did not dare to speak, he only guessed if his horse had made trouble in the cage and troubled these servants.

Fu Chen gave some tips to make up for the inn's losses but the maid immediately refused.

"Sorry Sir! B-but we can't accept it" said the waiter.

Fu Chen did not want to think long and take his money back before going to his horse place. But what he saw was that the horse disappeared.

There was no sign of damage that might have been caused due to the horse going berserk, everything was neat as if nothing had happened.

Fu Chen went back to the previous servant and asked him what had happened. The waiter explained as he stammered and cold sweat began to appear.

Fu Chen stared intently at the servant before sighing for a moment.

"Where is the Village Chief's son now?" ask Fu Chen.

"In-he went to the master's trading center, it seemed like she wanted to show off the horse she had just obtained."

Fu Chen stared at the servant for a moment before stepping away. The waiter collapsed to the floor with a sigh, and several servants nearby helped him to his feet.

"It looks like the kid is completely dead this time." muttered the waiter.

All this time he had never seen adventurers with high abilities stop by in their Village. Because most adventurers choose to continue the journey, because the distance from the Village to Lianing City is not too far away.

Fu Chen walked leisurely while observing the village, he also had time to buy some snacks on the side of the road. Fu Chen was pretty sure no one could ride that horse for the first time.

Fu Chen also had no trouble finding the location of the Village Chief's child, they had actually made a commotion along the way.

Some adults seem to be trying hard to pull the horse so that it will walk. Then he saw a teenager who was smiling widely while watching the horse from the front.

Fu Chen was sick of dealing with people like him. After all Fu Chen could guess what would happen if he reclaimed the horse.

The horse did not look troubled even though he was pulled by some adults. Even he was able to throw some of them when he was irritated.

Fu Chen whistled for a moment, the horse neighed and kicked people with its feet. Some were thrown far away to hit the homes of residents, even one of them was unconscious.

The face of the innkeeper who saw Fu Chen instantly turned pale, he knew this was going to happen and had been commemorating the village chief's son ever since.

"Hey! What are you doing?" The teenager snapped at Fu Chen.

As if knowing his point, the horse instantly threw away his feces in front of the child. He then walked towards Fu Chen casually.

Fu Chen stroked her for a moment, "Good work." He immediately rode the horse and flashed beside the Village Chief's son as if nothing had happened.

Fu Chen did not even glance towards the child in the slightest. With a snack still in his hand, Fu Chen resumed his journey.
