Legend of the Heavenly Swordsman
Ch.69 - The House of the Noble Xiao

Xiao Jung let out a long sigh after taking a glass of wine. He had finished the food he had ordered with Fu Chen.

"Chen'er, I'll be gone for a moment after this. You can drive around the City as long as I'm not around, just ask a waiter to accompany you so as not to get lost." Xiao Jung let out a burp after that.

"Ah, right. Take this money if you want to buy something." Xiao Jung threw the leather pouch onto the table. Fu Chen guessed that the contents of the leather pouch were gold pieces.

Fu Chen's gaze was then directed at Xiao Jung. "How long will senior go?"

"Maybe tonight I'll be right back. No problem, right? You can enjoy your time freely." The corner of Xiao Jung's lips curved slightly.

In his mind perhaps Fu Chen would spend that entire day walking around with a servant. From his own observation, the maid in this inn also looks young and beautiful enough to be made a guide.

Fu Chen did not realize the intent of Xiao Jung's smile was just displaying his sweet smile. The plan would have been easier if so. "Can I spend this money?"

Xiao Jung chuckled softly and then stood up, he patted Fu Chen on the shoulder with a knotty smile. "You can use that money as you please." Afterwards Xiao Jung walked up to the cashier and approached a servant who looked to be a dozen years old.

Xiao Jung was seen talking to the waiter as he occasionally glanced at Fu Chen, the waiter also did the same to make Fu Chen curious.

At the end of the conversation, the servant nodded his head with a gentle smile. He glanced at Fu Chen for a few seconds before continuing his work. Xiao Jung himself just gave his thumbs up to Fu Chen then immediately went to his room.

Fu Chen tilted his head with a contorted forehead, he did not understand what Xiao Jung meant by brandishing his thumbs. Fu Chen thought hard to decipher his point, after a while then his eyes widened and then glanced at the servant.

Fu Chen then simply sighed softly and smiled blandly,. "His attitude is very different when it comes to such a thing." Fu Chen glanced back at the servant before finally taking the leather pouch on the table and going to his room.

***

Xiao Jung left the inn when the day started. The clothes he was wearing looked neater than usual, his charisma really felt with his current appearance.

Fu Chen himself was still busy with his affairs in the room, he had checked his Earth ring repeatedly and obtained if there was not a single martial book in it. Fu Chen let out a heavy sigh upon realizing that, he had to wait until the deeper part of the ring opened to obtain the martial scriptures.

Fu Chen then chose to absorb one of the resources he had obtained from the ring. The resource was named Morning Grass, Fu Chen chose it because it is efficacious to smooth blood circulation while cleaning it. Fu Chen felt his body become unrefreshed after absorbing the pill Jindan gave Xiao Jung.

Xiao Jung himself came to his residence just on foot. The residence of the nobles and commoners was bounded by a high wall separating the two.

The policy was implemented so that the lives of the nobles can be guaranteed security, but it actually had an impact on the sizeable social gap in the Capital City.

After entering the gate, Xiao Jung was escorted by a horse-drawn carriage with guards there. The guard actually did not expect that a noble of Xiao Jung's level would willingly walk that far.

The guard escorted Xiao Jung right in front of the residence of the Head of the Xiao family. Xiao Jung gave a tip to the guard in the form of gold pieces, then just walked into the residence. The arrival of Xiao Jung was greeted by several servants who were working.

"Is Dad still in his room?" xiao Jung asked the servants.

The waiter looked at each other before one of them answered. "Yes, Sir. He's still in the room."

Xiao Jung nodded then ignored the servants. A servant then rushed to leave his job and headed somewhere to inform Xiao Jung of someone's arrival.

As long as Xiao Jung walked in the corridor of his house, many unpleasant gazes from behind the windows were fixed on him. He just put on a flat face and ignored it all. Things like this always happened every time he returned to the residence, all because of mistakes he had made in the past.

"Dad.." Xiao Jung said slowly as he saw his father lying weakly on the bed. He quickly approached her with a sad face.

Xiao Jung checked his father's hand to see his condition. He let out a heavy sigh and then stuck the hand to his cheek. "Dad, forgive me. I shouldn't have been lying in this place if I had obeyed your words back then."

A round of tears started to come out from the corner of Xiao Jung's eyes. He still held his father's hand with his head lowered. He felt so guilty about what happened that his father was lying in this bed.

Xiao Jung wiped his tears that almost fell, his gaze then fixed on the face of the father who looked pale. People wouldn't believe him if he were alive just by looking at him.

Xiao Jung rubbed the man's face a few times and kissed him on the forehead. "Dad, I promise I'll save you no matter what." A moment after Xiao Jung said it, he sensed the presence of someone walking hastily into the room.

Xiao Jung immediately wiped his tears and set his expression correctly, he then slightly moved away from his father's bed. The sound of footsteps from out there was getting closer.

Braak!

A middle-aged woman opened the door violently, the look in her eyes was so sharp with a flushed face. His shoulders rose up and down as it held back anger and emotional overflows.

Xiao Jung glanced towards the door to ascertain who was entering. However, a moment later a slap lodged in his cheek until his face turned to the side. He was silent with a blank look, the slap was enough to make him realize who was coming.

"You still dare to show your face here? Don't you have any shame after what you did?!" the woman snapped at Xiao Jung right in front of her face.

Xiao Jung simply fell silent listening to the snapping. A man of advanced age then followed into the room, he approached and tried to calm the woman down.

The Xiao clan patriarch who was still weakly lying on his bed frowned until his brows fused together. There was a groaning sound coming out of his mouth.

The elderly man sighed softly noticing it, then rubbed the woman's shoulder to calm her down. "Calm down, Xiang'er. Your husband is sick, don't aggravate his condition with this commotion you're making."

The woman who had the real name Su Xiang closed her eyes and set her breath back. He slowly removed his father-in-law's hand from his shoulder. "Go!" lirih.

"Xiang…?" The man was confused, thinking that he had just been expelled by his son-in-law.

"I want this kid not to know himself to get out of here!" The woman confirmed her words.

Xiao Jung's ears were hot, especially when he saw his grandfather's gaze as if telling him to leave.

"What's wrong with me seeing my own father? What is wrong if a child wants to meet his father? Mom, have you never thought about my feelings? I have been following my mother's wishes by leaving this residence. Is that still not enough for mom?"

Xiao Jung let go of his frustration with overflowing emotions. However, he again got a slap in response to his words.

"Who do you think made your father that way? Who!?" snarled Su Xiang once more. "Didn't you hear my words? I said get out of here!" continues cold.

Xiao Jung's jaw stiffened, he left the room with his hand firmly gripped. "Remember this! I'll be back soon and when it comes, you'll recover soon" he said on the doorstep, then grunted softly before continuing his pace.

Su Xiang's eyes began to water until it finally flowed profusely. He cried in the arms of his father-in-law who tried to calm him down.

The elderly man could only sigh heavily while holding Su Xiang's head. "Xiao Feng, wake up immediately so that this family will be back to how it was" he said inwardly.
