Legend of the Heavenly Swordsman

Legend of the Heavenly Swordsman
Ch.92 - The Unwritten Test

After Fu Chen had finished his break, he immediately approached the elder Li who was on the fifth floor. Fu Chen took a breath for a moment before stepping foot to enter Elder Li's room.

Fu Chen was so nervous, afraid that elder Li would not wish to raise him as a disciple because he did not know the other elders.

"Sit down Chen'er" said elder Li who had indeed been aware of Fu Chen's whereabouts ever since he entered the fifth floor.

Fu Chen sat down slowly, for some reason fear began to appear as elder Li continued to back him.

"How was your first mission Chen'er? I didn't expect you to be so quick to become an inner disciple and establish a close enough relationship with a Young Master of the Xiao family."

Elder Li turned his chair around and put down some sheets of paper he had just read. Behind his warm smile he was hiding a sense of surprise because the aura from Fu Chen's body felt a little different.

Fu Chen only smiled awkwardly as he rubbed the nape of his neck hearing Elder Li's words. For Fu Chen, if elder Li already knew about his mission then the elder would have already received reports of every important part of that mission. So Fu Chen did not need to tell her anymore.

"What do you think Chen'er?" Elder Li suddenly asked.

"Hmm? I mean.. elder?" Fu Chen slightly tilted his head, not understanding the question.

"That young man Xiao, aren't you close enough to him? It is possible that you are interested in becoming an elder disciple of Xiao Tian and building a relationship with the Xiao family. With your talent I'm sure they'll accept you."

"That's not true, elder." Fu Chen hurriedly replied.

"Our closeness is just a colleague, there is absolutely no intention for me to establish a relationship like the elders mean."

Elder Li chuckled softly hearing that. "The determination of the Tang clan's descendants is not in doubt, but this is not enough to test it," inner elder Li when he saw Fu Chen's eyes.

"A tough person doesn't need to speak out to prove his strength. People who have high confidence do not need to find a way to show determination in front of the master" said elder Li as he wrote something on a piece of paper.

Fu Chen was just speechless listening to elder Li speak, he believed every sentence he spoke had a broad meaning.

"You wouldn't understand that sentence if you just understood it. There will be times when your entire understanding will be lost."

Elder Li then folded the paper he had just written and tied it to the feet of a bird perched on the window behind him.

"Something higher than belief?" Fu Chen muttered softly, "Is that determination?" fu Chen asked as he continued to think.

"Are you sure?" Elder Li asked back while looking at the dove that started flying away.

"Emh.." Fu Chen scratched his head which started to itch.

"Haha...this is what you call determination when you yourself still doubt your answer?" Elder Li shook his head slowly.

Fu Chen could only quietly hear it, he was aware of his mistake but could not be denied if the doubt was still attached.

"You can think about it another time, and if you manage to find the answer then I'll tell you a few things I know about your clan as well as the ring." Elder Li pointed at the ring that was on Fu Chen's thumb.

"You-you-! Where did the elder know that?!" Fu Chen's eyes widened in disbelief, his body suddenly leaping backwards and taking out the sword stored in his Earth ring.

"Haha.your reaction is faster than I thought, but you should pretend not to know because your opponent is much stronger than you think." Elder Li got up from his chair and walked over to Fu Chen.

The aura emanated from elder Li made Fu Chen unable to move his body. The aura felt increasingly heavy as elder Li was right beside him.

"A fascinating sword, but are you sure you want to fight me with a sword like this? If I really intend to take your ring, do I need to do all this?" Elder Li then retracted his aura.

"Maybe the right answer is to give up. But the Tang clan I know never said it in any of their fights. They believe it's better to die in battle than to live on the run." Elder Li smiled faintly.

Elder Li walked towards the door, but before leaving he said, "After all this, are you still sure you want to be my disciple? Think carefully! A devoted disciple is one who keeps no secrets to his teacher."

"Living on the run?" Fu Chen muttered softly.

Fu Chen's breathing was slightly hunting down, his eyes closed while trying to hold back the anger but the words of elder Li really offended him.

"The Tang Clan you know today is just a history, they have never escaped! They only protected their trust by continuing to survive! YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THEM!!"

Fu Chen gritted his teeth while tightly grasping the sword he was holding. That anger led him to a unanimous decision.

"I'll prove it! Right in front of your eyes I will prove if the Tang clan will rise soon!"

"Have you decided what mission you're going to take?" Kyoto asked Sin Lou because the boy kept talking about it all night.

"Not yet. I didn't find a suitable mission from this week's list." Sin Lou sighed softly, he was quite disappointed because the mission list was only updated once every two weeks.

"Huh... What kind of mission are you looking for?" Kyoto took a long breath.

"Didn't you hear Fu Chen's story? He went to the capital to have fun when his mission was completed. At least I want to find an easy mission with a long enough time limit," Sin Lou grumbled and then swung his lips.

"Such a mission can't exist." Kyoto mocked Sin Lou by swinging his lips. "After all, do you have enough money to have fun?"

"Of course not" said Sin Lou quickly. "Didn't you miss the village? We've been living in my sect long enough, I think it's a good time to go home."

"Well, you're right." Kyoto said, the two then sighed simultaneously.

Kyoto then remembered his other friends, to the best of their knowledge, only himself and Fu Chen and Sin Lou had become inner disciples.

"What about Qiao Wu? Wasn't he always around the inner disciple's surroundings?" Sin Lou asked.

Kyoto sighed softly upon hearing Qiao Wu's name, "Oh, I don't really care about that kid, even to talk to him is hard enough."

Sin Lou actually displayed a thin grin from his face hearing Kyoto's reply.

"Come on. You've always been stiff with women, especially Qiao Wu. Aren't you happy if he's close to that senior? Since you are already an inner disciple you should challenge that senior to prove to Qiao Wu that you are stronger than him."

"Be quiet! Your rant is useless!" Kyoto grunted in annoyance.

"Hahaha..so that's right?" Sin Lou is getting excited.

"I said shut up!" Kyoto could not stand his frustration anymore, he threw a hard blow but it could be easily resisted by Sin Lou.

Sin Lou's laughter grew louder, "I'll report it to Fu Chen. Haha…!"
