Mortal To Immortal (Book 1)

Mortal To Immortal (Book 1)
MTI 011 - The Way of Life

A few days passed after the last conversation between Yao Han and Feng Xian. He understood a little of Feng Xian's words.

Yao Han did not forget to practice and managed to raise the practice of pure wood element spirit root to the second level of the Basic Realm.

An additional story from Hong Ming was about the world of cultivators being split into two streams, white and black. Broadly speaking, these two streams were created due to the difference in understanding and the path of the cultivator that each person had chosen.

Choosing neutral is not an easy choice, because it depends on the situation and conditions faced.

Sects or groups that existed in the Blue Moon Continent were originally formed because they felt the need to help each other in order to gather resources so that the practice journey was easier.

As time went on the sect or group got bigger and more organized, also more and more sprung up. Side effects, between sects compete with each other, both healthy and dirty.

Disputes between sects or groups were inevitable. At first it was just a struggle for limited resources, which was not worth the growing number of cultivators. Then it expanded due to conflicts of interest of the sects, fighting each other for power to show which group was the best.

Looking at the increasingly long infighting as if it was endless and even took unnecessary casualties, there were some people or groups who tried to think clearly and live a better life without any bloodshed.

This group is then referred to as the white school group, while the opposite group understands and teachings with them are called the black school group.

White and black always try to dominate, causing more and more disputes. There have been countless wars between sects and sects, on both small and large scales. The later war distanced the main goal from cultivation practice.

"Hm, things are more complicated than I thought." Yao Han stroked his chin, inexhaustible with life out there.

"They are a bunch of weirdos, complicating themselves. If you realize earlier their mistake, the world will be more advanced and peaceful long ago" said Feng Xian, who sat beside Yao Han, still painting.

"You've heard about the category of heroes, haven't you? It adjusted the flow of cultivators. Four Pillars of white flow sect, Four Gates of black flow sect, and Four Kings of neutral flow sect."

"What about Uncle Feng? What kind of flow did Uncle choose as the champion of the Four Corners?"

"Not white, not black, not neutral. I and the other three Four Guards either do not know the flow, or are bound by certain groups and sects. We have our own mindset and live quietly as free cultivators. Suppose we choose, we're in a neutral stream."

Feng Xian stopped his brush movements, then glanced at Hong Meirong and She Yutian, "We are not part of a bunch of fools like these two, who used to be from a sect. There was at least some wisdom behind their occurrence of being spirit beasts, no longer shackled by the sect and all their nonsense interests."

"Senior, even though we are tied to a sect, it has actually been a long time since we have been completely in line and agree with the sect." She Yutian tried to defend herself.

"You mean you're half-principled in a neutral flow, right? You think I believe? It's bullshit."

Yao Han understood Feng Xian's intent. A few days ago the two spirit beasts told me that they were from two different sects of the flow.

Hong Meirong of the white stream and She Yutian of the black stream. Both of their sects belonged to large sects and several times engaged in small-scale wars.

A personal conflict got them involved in the fight for seven days and seven nights. The fight was stopped by nature by sending golden lightning on them, which then changed their fate into spirit beasts.

At about the same time, they were miraculously confined to a strange object. She was locked up for twelve years and accidentally freed by Feng Xian who found the strange object.

Since they were free, it had been eight months since they had stayed with Feng Xian on Star Moon Island without much of their interaction with him.

Feng Xian laughed loudly for quite a while, "Now I heard such a remark from a boy. Xiao Han, you're an interesting boy. I wonder what the response of those three parents would be if I found out there's a prodigy like you." Feng Xian smiled meaningfully.

"Three old men?"

"I mean the Four Guards besides myself. But rather than imitating my path, you better imitate the path chosen by Bing Lizi the Northern Ice or Chen Long the Southern Dragon."

"Why is that?"

"You may see me as a good person or at least because you helped me, but if you hear a bit of my past, you might rethink."

"Ng... What happened to Uncle?"

"Last time four hundred years ago, I helped the world eliminate some sects. Their own fault dares to harass me. If it wasn't for those three old men working together to stop me, more annoying sects would have vanished and razed to the ground."

Yao Han and the two spirit beasts who heard that looked at Feng Xian awkwardly, the man said as if his actions in the past were no big deal.

"If I were to follow Uncle Feng's advice earlier, where would I be able to meet this Uncle Bing or Uncle Chen?"

Feng Xian sighed, "Although I give such advice, right now you won't be able to meet them. For almost a hundred years they disappeared mysteriously."

She Yutian entered the conversation, "Isn't Senior Xi the Western Lightning rumored to have disappeared at about the same time, Senior?"

"No, the Old Man went to a hidden place to undergo closed-door training, fifty years before the disappearance of the Ice Old Man and the Dragon Old Man."

She Yutian and Hong Meirong coughed at Feng Xian's call on the other three great Four Conferred Knights.

Come to think of it, Feng Xian liked to call people names at will. They were summoned with the same call as Yao Han, namely Xiao Tian and Xiao Rong.

"Then I'd better learn from Uncle Feng. I hope Uncle doesn't mind"

Feng Xian looked at Yao Han with his next eyebrow, "You want me to be your teacher? What makes you think you deserve to be my student?" Feng Xian laughed sinisterly.

"I don't know, but I'll try to be a good student. In my hometown, I learned many things to cover up my shortcomings of not being able to become a cultivator. Could that be a consideration, Uncle?"

"Hm, interesting. Before that, did you know about Dao?"
