Mortal To Immortal (Book 1)
MTI 210 - Medical Expenses

Before answering Feng Xian's question, Shui Lan took a deep breath. He had actually not expected to be spoken to by Feng Xian, moreover it seemed that the East Wind was no longer cold to him coming from the white stream.

"My disciple obtained the attack wound of the Death Cloud Sect from the Moon Cloud Sect girl, Senior."

Feng Xian stroked his short black beard. He had heard of the Death Cloud Palm when Yutian told the unique abilities of each of the biggest sects of the black stream on Yao Han.

"That's a deadly technique, as the name implies. Your students should have been dead a long time ago. He's lucky to be alive."

Shui Lan smiled faintly. "Yes, Senior. But actually that makes his condition almost unsaved not only because of the attack, but..."

Shui Lan did not mind sharing more stories, as she thought Feng Xian was in an easy state to communicate with.

"The destructive and ferocious Qi resembles poison..." Feng Xian was secretly shocked. "Most likely he learned a secret technique or something. What do you think, little monster?"

Feng Xian deliberately asked Yao Han for his opinion regarding that blood red Qi.

"Murids thought not because of secret techniques, Master, but rather practice manuals. The girl must have learned a high-level best-practice manual for black-flow cultivators."

Feng Xian smiled faintly. He was just testing how far Yao Han's knowledge and critical thinking were. Yao Han's answer was in line with his estimation. After all Yao Han also learned a high-level practice manual that made his color and Qi strength different from the others.

"I've heard information about the conflict in Jade Treasure City from one of the Jade Treasure Shops, but I want to hear the other side of you guys."

Shui Lan and Bing Xueyu looked at the scene, then Bing Xueyu asked permission to tell the details of the incident because she was one of the witnesses at the scene.

For a few minutes, Bing Xueyu told him all the details of the important events she knew without trying to cover up. There were indeed some things that neither Feng Xian nor Yao Han knew from the Jade Treasure Shop, but they knew from Bing Xueyu's story.

The atmosphere became silent after Bing Xueyu finished telling her, until Feng Xian asked Yao Han.

"What do you think of the girl, the little monster?"

"What kind of answer does Master want?"

Feng Xian raised an eyebrow as his disciple asked back, then chuckled. "I mean about his powers."

Yao Han was silent for a moment. "From Sister Bing's story, isn't it clear that the girl has monstrous powers?"

"Do you think he's stronger than you?" Feng Xian was deliberately teasing Yao Han.

"Actually Master Feng, I've met him. He is strong, but if we fight, I think we can win from him. Perhaps, if we meet again, I will finish him off, as long as Master doesn't mind being hostile to the Moon Cloud Sect."

Hearing Yao Han's words, Shui Lan and the others coughed softly, while Feng Xian clucked in annoyance.

"You don't sound like your usual self. And do you think I'm afraid of the Moon Cloud Sect?"

"No, I just don't want to trouble Master." Yao Han replied casually.

"Good, that's true. Don't bother me or do anything that troubles you."

Shui Lan and the others could not digest well the conversation of the teacher and disciple pair, because the contents of the two people's heads were different from most people.

"Almost, Senior. We haven't paid your student?"

"Then finish it quickly."

Shui Lan smiled awkwardly. And when asking the magnitude of Shui Hua's medical expenses, Shui Lan got Yao Han's unexpected answer.

"Matriark, since establishing this Medicine House, I have never set the cost of my medical services. I always accept whatever is given depending on the ability of each of my patients."

Shui Lan could not immediately respond, whereas Feng Xian tried not to laugh. Yao Han was not as innocent as Feng Xian had thought. Feng Xian discovered that his disciple had his own unique difficulty level that was different from his, whether Yao Han was aware of it or not.

On the notice board posted Yao Han written that he received any form of payment for medical services. For those who did not have high paying abilities, it lightened them up even making Yao Han liked by many people.

Different things were felt by those with high abilities, especially those from large sects. Their self-esteem is at stake if they do not pay as they can. It would be a shame to incur the same expense as those with low abilities.

Yao Han's Medicine House was actually intended for the lower middle class people and Yao Han had no intention of making things difficult for them. But at the same time, Yao Han made things difficult for the upper middle class people indirectly.

Anyone with high abilities would get headaches just because the matter determined Yao Han's medical expenses alone.

"Young brother, it will be easier for you to mention the cost directly."

Yao Han never asked, so he had a hard time determining the cost of his medical services and still let Shui Lan determine for herself.

Shui Lan seemed to have just realized Yao Han had his own difficulties to deal with. Although it was actually easier when compared to Feng Xian, but facing off longer with Yao Han would give him a headache and could end up embarrassed.

"Young brother, this..."

"Matriark, what if I ask for half the wealth of the Flower Ombak Sect as payment?"

Yao Han was actually joking, but was quite seriously responded to. Shui Lan and the others coughed softly. Even Shui Hua thought Yao Han was also crazy of treasures, just like the nature of his famous teacher that one.

Unlike the others, Feng Xian actually laughed loudly.

"That's a fair price. Why do you mind? Were it not for the help of this little monster, your disciple would not have been helped." Feng Xian laughed mockingly.

Shui Lan smiled wryly. Feng Xian's existence made him feel awkward and have trouble speaking more freely, but he tried to bargain.

Yao Han then agreed to the offer. Shui Lan paid by taking out a few spirit stone bags. The number was indeed not as much as Yao Han's joke, but it would still leave others dumbfounded and asphyxiated.

Shui Hua felt uneasy about making her teacher charge so much for her, but she did not dare to protest because of Feng Xian's existence.

Yao Han offered something else for Shui Lan to not feel so minded about taking out so many treasures. He popped out several bottles filled with medicinal pills.

"It's not a high-tier pill, but its quality won't disappoint."

Shui Lan and the others held their breaths upon seeing so many pills emitting light, signaling the pills within the bottle were of perfect quality.
