Chapter 75

The attention of the invited guests shifted to Zack and Alanna who stepped slowly on the stairs down from the second floor.

Zack felt Alanna's nervousness involuntarily holding tightly onto Zack's arm. "Don't be nervous, just smile casually as usual." Zack drew a little closer to Alanna, whispering in her ear.

"Isn't the show in the garden next to the house ? Why do they gather so much in the living room ?" Alanna whispered back.

"The others are here and most of the invitations are outside." They are still whispering.

"Oh. that's so." Alanna understood and they reached the bottom floor.

The guests were curious about the presence of Alanna who came down along with Zack but no one dared to ask.

Zack took Alanna to the park where the main event is tonight.

Alanna saw father Arian, mother Rani, Sinta and Johan gathered in one place. Mama Rani is the first to see their presence and smile.

"You're so pretty tonight, that dress really suits you." Mama Rani praises Alanna for joining them.

"Thank you mama." Alanna smiled happily. "Love, you're beautiful in that dress too." Praise Alanna for seeing Sinta's performance.

"Thank you, Alanna, it looks like you're the only one who's paying attention to how I look tonight." Sinta said softly glancing at both her parents and Johan.

"You've always been beautiful, son, so we don't praise you anymore." Papa Arian said he made them all chuckle except for Johan who always had a flat face.

Sinta just grunted angrily folding both her hands on her chest hearing Papa Arian tease her.

Alanna's smile faded when she accidentally saw Nurhaliza who was standing not far away from them was staring at her.

Zack looked at Alanna's face that turned grim. "Why dear ? is there a problem ?" Zack asked in a soft tone to Alanna.

"Nurhaliza was standing not far from us and was staring at me." Alanna replied slowly so as not to be heard by others.

Zack circulated his gaze and found the person Alanna meant. "Don't you mind, not because he ruined the fun tonight."

Alanna nodded in understanding. "I understand mas."

"Good, that's my wife." Zack smiled gently.

"It seems like all the invited guests are present." Papa Arian said while looking around.

"Yes, you better start opening the show." Mama Rani said to Zack.

"All right ma." Zack said he agreed and walked to the table to get a glass of mocktail and a spoon. "I beg your attention." Zack tapped on the glass he was holding with a spoon calling the guests' attention.

The attention of the invited guests was shifted when they heard Zack's voice and the clink of a spoon.

"I represent Ibrahim's family to thank you for your presence at our residence tonight." Zack said with a friendly smile.

"As you know by the invitation we gave tonight's event to celebrate the birthday of my parents, Arian Ibrahim. You must be surprised for the first time that we held an event like this in our residence.

"Actually tonight's event is not just celebrating my papa's birthday but it can be said also as my wedding reception. Yes, I want to announce to you that I'm actually married to this woman next to me, her name is Alanna."

The invited guests were a little boisterous hearing the announcement from Zack.

"I understand if you are surprised to hear it because we did not tell you and invited you during my wedding jijab, it was all because of the will of my wife and I agreed to her wishes."

"Maybe your wife wants to save on expenses." Gurau one of the men who was Zack's business partner made the other invitees laugh amusedly to hear him.

So did Zack's parents, Zack, Alanna, and Sinta smile at him, except Johan as usual just put on a flat face.

"Because my marriage that no one else knew about made it a little difficult for me to keep telling people one by one about my status that's why I made the show tonight.

"I wanted to tell you a little bit about our meeting for just information about my friends and business associates. We met in Surabaya as guests and hotel servants because I was staying at the hotel where my wife worked. I say proudly and shamelessly tell this because my wife is not ashamed to work as a hotel maid because she thinks it is a lawful job.

"And that's one of the reasons I proposed to her and you guys must be surprised to learn that I was rejected when I proposed to her and honestly I was surprised to hear the rejection from her." Zack said with a laugh and the invitees laughed.

"It turns out that a Zack Ibrahim was rejected by women." Said Zack's business partner.

"Yes right, a Zack Ibrahim was once rejected but that does not mean it makes me to retreat and surrender, it is proven that now he is my wife and favorite daughter-in-law of the Ibrahim family." Zack said with a gentle smile towards Alanna who was slightly misbehaved at the sight of almost all the invited guests.

"Not at length anymore I said, thank you for coming and enjoy the event tonight." Zack closed his speech which was greeted by applause from the invited guests.

Datuk Malik walked up to them on the Nurhaliza trail behind him. "Thank you for the invitation, Mr. Arian Ibrahim." Datuk Malik reached out to shake hands.

Papa Arian welcomes Datuk Malik's handshake. "Just like Datuk Malik, I'm glad you came all the way from Malaysia to accept our invitation." Papa Arian said kindly.

"Actually I'm not feeling well because of the recent events in our residence, there was a misunderstanding between your daughter-in-law and my son."

"It's okay Mr Datuk Malik, it's a passing incident we don't mind anymore, isn't it so dear ?" Zack interrupts saying to Alanna.

"Yes." Yeah." Alanna answered briefly without looking at the face of Nurhaliza who was standing next to Datuk Malik.

"Thank God then." Grandfather Malik said in relief.

"Alanna's a good person and we're lucky to have a daughter-in-law like her." Rani's mama's words make Alanna awkward for her.

"Mama praised me too much in front of others." Alanna said it wasn't nice.

"It turns out it's like that, don't be too demeaning to Alanna." Sinta said.

"After all, you've clearly shown others that you love Alanna." Papa Arian said more and more clearly, making Zack smile. "How are our projects in Malaysia progressing ?' papa Arian suddenly diverted the conversation taking Datuk Malik away from them towards the table where various types of food and drinks were available.

"What do you want to eat, baby ?" ask Zack to Alanna.

"Not yet to eat Zack's mas, a little more." Refuse Alanna. "Can I sit down for a minute ? My feet are sore from standing in high heels."

"We're at that table." Zack said as he pointed at the table not far from them.

Zack leads Alanna to the table.

"Thank you for that." Alanna said as Zack pulled the chair for her to sit on.

"Why are you wearing these shoes ? where are the flat shoes you bought yesterday in Malaysia ?" Zack asked, looking down at Alanna and looking at the high heels that Alanna was wearing.

"I forgot to bring it back to Jakarta."

"Just sit here, you don't have to walk much." Zack orders while standing, sitting in a chair next to Alanna.
