The Man Full of Wounds
Chapter 94
The ambulance stopped right in front of the hospital's ER door. With a swift medical officer out to welcome Alanna who was dropped from the ambulance and immediately rushed into the car.
Zack could only see from a distance some medics who were directly moving to handle Alanna, put on an infusion, handle the wounds on Alanna's face and head and finally put on an oxygen hood.
Zack approached Alanna's bed vault as soon as the medics finished.
"You're his family ?" ask the doctor who's still standing next to Alanna's safe.
"Yes Doc, I'm her husband." Zack replied slowly feeling pain in the chest seeing Alanna's state.
"Can we know how a patient got hurt ?"
"I don't really know either Doc, I just found my wife lying under the emergency stairs of the hotel floor where we were hosting our parents' anniversary party. I suspect he fell down the stairs." Zack explained.
"After we examined the patient, there was blood continuously coming out of the lower part of the patient's body. Is your wife pregnant ?"
"Yes Doc, my wife is pregnant." Answer Zack.
The doctor understood. "Then we will immediately do an ultrasound to find out the condition of your baby. But we hope you're prepared for the worst."
Zack gulped his saliva which inexplicably suddenly tasted bitter. "Yes Doc, I understand." Zack said, sitting in the chair next to Alanna's safe felt her legs limp.
"But why hasn't my wife noticed Doc ?" Zack added staring at Alanna who still had not opened her eyes.
"There's a hard impact on your wife's head, that's what makes her unconscious."
Zack could only be speechless hearing the explanation from the Doctor.
"Zack !!" Shouted Mama Rani from behind.
Zack turned around, seeing his parents and Sinta and Johan running with panicked faces approaching him.
Zack became a little relieved involuntarily sighing deeply as soon as he saw his family coming. The tension he felt was a little less.
"How can it ? Why would something like this happen to Alanna, Zack ?" My mother's question sounded very panicked.
Zack rubbed his face rough, shaking his head trying to find a word. "I found out Alanna was unconscious Mama, that I knew her whereabouts from the Cctv video footage."
"Excuse the patient's family, we would like to perform an ultrasound examination on the patient. Could be a bit away 'cause we want to put up a sampir." The nurse explained kindly.
They all moved a bit away and let the medics go back to check on Alanna.
"Alanna's hurt anywhere, Zack ?" ask Papa calmly.
"Wounds on the face, head and blood continue to come out of the lower part of his body. The doctor suspects that the blood has something to do with it." Zack said in a trembling voice thinking about the fate of her baby in Alanna's womb.
"Oh my God !" Mama Rani squealed in surprise, whereas the others just fell silent not knowing what to say.
"You must be strong, son." Papa Arian said encouragingly patting Zack on the shoulder, seeing the state of Zack that looks very chaotic.
They all fell silent waiting for the results of the USG examination that the doctor was doing.
Not long wait for the boat to open again. The doctor approached Zack.
"How's the result Doc ? What about my baby ?" Zack asked curiously with his heart racing waiting for a response from the Doctor.
"Who's your wife's name ?" asking the doctor is like buying time.
"Alanna Doc, my wife's name is Alanna." Zack replied impatiently.
"Mrs Alanna did have pregnancy bleeding. The condition of the uterus is not a problem just that your baby can not be saved again, sorry sir we have to immediately do the curette so that the bleeding stops and your wife's life is saved." The word that Zack was afraid of finally came out of the Doctor's mouth.
Zack was transfixed palely on the spot while Mama Rani was crying hugging Papa Arian. Sinta was surprised to close her mouth with both hands while Johan only went silent observing his Boss who looked crushed hearing the news.
Zack walked over to Alanna who was still unconscious. Stretched out a soft rub of Alanna's cheek that was reddish due to the impact.
Tears tried to hold Zack to not come out of his eye peluruk.
"He will be sad and devastated to hear this news." Zack said softly and hoarsely because of the tears he was trying to put in his custody.
"I wouldn't have the heart to tell her the news about this if she regained consciousness later." Add Zack still with a soft rub of Alanna's cheek.
Mama Rani approaches Zack, hugging Zack tightly to strengthen.
"What's so hard, son, this is also your life's ordeal." Mama Rani said on the sidelines of her cries.
The hug from Mama Rani made a burst of tears that Zack was trying to hold.
Making Sinta who was just silent couldn't help but cry seeing her brother's willingness.
Mama Rani patted Zack's back to calm him down, feeling the sadness his son felt.
Zack let go of Mama Rani's embrace, feeling a little better after letting out the sadness she felt.
"I've had better Ma." Zack yells hoarse.
The nurse walked over with a map.
"Mrs Alanna we'll take her to the operating room immediately because the bleeding has not stopped and there is also a large wound on her head. Here's the file you need to sign." The nurse said while handing over the map in question.
Zack retrieves and signs the file without asking, then hands the map back to the nurse.
The other medics pushed Alanna's bed vault out of the ER into the hallway leading to the operating room. They all followed from behind.
They were restrained at the front door of the operating room while Alanna's safe was pushed inside by medics.
They patiently waited in front of the operating room. Mama Rani, Papa Arian, Sinta and Johan patiently sat waiting while Zack stood restlessly walking back and forth in front of the operating room door. None of them rebuked because they knew how Zack was feeling right now.
Johan stood walking outside and soon came with a plastic bag in his hand. Take out a coffee drink in a bottle and give it to Zack.
"Drink Master, it seems that you need him right now." Johan says.
Zack took the drink and smiled bitterly. "Thank you Johan."
Zack immediately opened the bottle cap, sipping almost half the bottle even though Zack could not feel the drink.
