"Mothers... Oh my God, I'm craving you." Lexi poured into Daphne's arms which the woman greeted with no less enthusiasm.
"Mom feels the same way. I'm glad to see you," Daphne breaks their arms to kiss Lexi on the cheek.
"How are you?" Lexi's hair gently brushed off, what a surprise Lexi came after the girl ignored her repeated calls. He understood that Lexi needed time to be able to understand all these conditions. Stiffened with guilt towards Lexi though she also only found out about the truth of her son recently.
"remarkable. Same asyou. You must be very happy too, right? Your favorite son is alive. Isn't this like a dream to you, Mother? A beautiful dream come true?"
Daphne does not deny that. Which mother is unhappy with that extraordinary reality. The child who was considered dead is still alive.
"Yes, Mom is very happy. Your father donated all the vineyard revenue for this month."
"Dad definitely doesn't know how to express his feelings right now. Hm, I thought I could also meet Dad today. So you're leaving, Mom?"
Lexi saw that there were several suitcases being scattered in the main room as well as some items that had been packed. He wanted to ask, but he abandoned his intention immediately. What's he asking for? They will no longer be connected to each other. Everything is memories. He suspects that Steve will bring his parents to live with him. Yeah, it's worth it.
"Yes, there are some things he wants to take care of. Since you're here, how about we go to the kitchen and cook your favorite food?"
"Sorry, Mom, I can't linger. There are some things I have to do" he said regretfully. Lexi felt uneasy as she looked at the disappointed mimic that was seen on Daphne's face.
"You're in a hurry?" The woman immediately removed her disappointed look with a warm smile.
Lexi nodded her head in silence, she brushed off her handbag, a wedding invitation was there. Lexi suspects that Daphne may not have known about her marriage to Harry in a matter of days.
"I want to meet your son, Mother? Where is he?"
Steve who from earlier noticed the two immediately continued his steps, approaching the two women who were so meaningful in his life.
"I'm here."
Lexi looked over quickly. "Hi."
"Hi,"
Silent. The two flinch in each other's positions until none of them realize that Daphne is no longer there.
"You came to usher in an official and special invitation?" Steve made a noise, though he preferred that they be quiet and look at each other. Something was impossible, and Steve was aware of it. For this reason he spoke because he could guess the purpose of Lexi's arrival. It is highly unlikely that Lexi came to ask her out as a very sweet and painful breakup. And it's even more unlikely that Lexi will come to announce the annulment of her marriage.
Jesus, if that happens, Steve's probably gonna be in the snow for seven days and seven nights.
Lexi nodded her head, dashing her ridiculous hope.
"Come alone?"
"Servatories."
"Hmm" Steve muttered
"Yes,"
"Hurrying?" Ask the man later.
Lexi looked at the clock that was coiled in her hand.
"I have an appointment with Harry in about two hours."
"The fitting?"
"Yes." Yeah."
Steve nodded in understanding. "Do you mind if I I ask you for 60 minutes? Just an hour."
Lexi shook her head.
"Do you want to be here or in the park?"
"Garden."
"Yes. I've also guessed if you'll choose a garden. Come on." Steve invited Lexi to step in front. The girl clearly knew the way to the park. Steve didn't have to guide her.
"I heard you proposed this garden was made. I didn't expect you to be so good at planting flowers and stuff."
The two sat on a chair where a small table became the boundary between the two. That sheer distance looks so wide to Steve.
Steve brought two packaged drinks that he took from the refrigerator. The man opened Lexi's drink and pushed her towards the girl.
"Thank you" Lexi said. The girl looked very tense as well.
"It just so happens that the land here is also very fertile. Dad was diligent in watering it and Mom was also nurturing it."
Steve chuckled, "So this park is the result of the cohesiveness of a team?"
"It can be said that."
"I'm glad you didn't change your call to my mom and dad."
"They're like second parents to me."
"They don't know about your marriage."
"And you don't want them to know."
Steve laughed awkwardly. Guess Lexi's on target. Although hiding Lexi's marriage is impossible because the media will broadcast it in a big way. But when the event took place, he had already arranged the departure schedule of his father and mother. Where they will stay forever. When the party happened, his father and mother were already on the plane or may have landed in other parts of the world.
Another word would be sad to see me. Enough Beth and Roxi to mess up my mood because of this situation. Don't let Mom and Dad look with pity at me.
"You're coming?" Lexi pulls out a card that's a ticket to Steve's life.
Steve accepted the invitation. Staring at him intently as if he was reading word for word written there. That's not what he did. None of the words were there, he read. He only counted twenty, diverting his anger that could have exploded at any time.
"You want me to come?" Steve gave Lexi his eyes back.
Lexi was a little surprised to hear Steve's answer which was also a question.
"I honestly don't want you to come."
"Then I won't come."
"But I also need you to be there to pray for me."
"If so, I'll come."
Lexi glared, "You want to come or not?"
Steve chuckled, giving no answer at all.
"Stevens,"
"Yes, Lexi."
"You okay?"
"I'm heartbroken how can it be okay."
Back silence. Only a gust of wind could not cool Steve at all.
"Stevens,"
"Yes, Lexi."
"I'm sorry about what you and Olivia went through."
"It's over." Steven exhaled a long breath. Although it has been a long time, but the pain is still felt and the impact still continues to haunt. But, he wouldn't share that grief with Lexi, not now.
"Have I congratulated you on Olivia's pregnancy."
"That's not necessary, she's not carrying my baby."
"He's lying."
"That's how it is."
"Oh." Lexi was a little surprised, wanting how many more lies were shown to her.
"I met him yesterday,"
Steve straightened his body. "Where? Did he do anything bad to you? Did he say something?"
Lexi was upset to find herself puffed up over the concerns Steve had clearly shown.
"No, he didn't do anything. But I was the one who said a little cruel to him."
Steve frowned, unsure and believing that a Lexi could be cruel.
"What did you say?" He asked full of curiosity.
"I said that he wasn't invited to my party and I also said that you're not my favorite person anymore. He looks pathetic for not getting your attention."
"You say that?" Steve still can't believe it.
"Yes, exactly like that. To the extent that his nose is deflated because it restrains anger. And then I felt bad but also relieved."
Steve chuckled, "Gosh, you did something great and brave. I should have been there to see that. How does a Lexi face look when it throws cynical insinuations."
"Ck! It's not something to be proud of."
His phone rang, a call from Harry.
"Not an hour yet," Steve glanced at his watch. "A little twenty minutes. But there's something more urgent, what can I do." He stood up, letting Lexi answer the call.
The call only lasted for 30 seconds, Steve counted it. Now is the time for farewell between them.
"I have to go."
"Yes." Yeah."
"See you later, Steven."
"See you." Relieved when Lexi didn't say goodbye.
"Lexi" he called Lexi when she had walked three steps.
"Yes?"
"Other times if you meet Olivia, avoid it as far as possible. Never look him in the eye at all. And may I have a hug just once before Geonandes' name is stuck behind your name?"
