"You sure you're going?"
Steve chuckled at Beth's question which was thrown with a concerned tone mixed with worry.
"Why do I prefer it when you provoke or ridicule me, Beth."
"You look so charming, Dude." Beth ignored Steve's insinuation. The old man crossed the room, standing right in front of Steve. "I'll tidy up your tie a little."
"Please" Steve.
Silence happened. Beth looked at Steve's face intently, intimately and intimately. Looking for something there. What Steve was thinking and what the man had had a plan unknown to them because Steve had always planned everything himself and never shared it until the end.
"Your eyes make me uncomfortable." Steve pushed Beth a little hard. "You're still normal?"
"I don't mind being an abnormal man as long as you're my partner" he said. "You're too pathetic."
"I'm doing fine. Stop worrying about me and say silly things. How are my mom and dad?"
"They've arrived safely and they love the place they live in now. Ck! You even lied to them, saying it was just a vacation."
Steve nodded, what can he do? His parents will be sad for him. After all, he did this just in case of an attack that might happen all of a sudden.
"Roxi's gone?"
"Yes, he's at Willson's. After congratulating, he would immediately fly. Looks like his wife's expecting a second child."
"Basin' on a fucking man."
"We're really going?" Beth went back to the main topic.
"I'm going, Beth. You don't have an invitation" the man continued as he walked out of the room. "Lexi invited me and I had to come to see how beautiful she was in her wedding dress."
"You're just sowing salt in your gaping wounds."
Steve did not respond anymore. He continued down the stairs, stepping wide towards his car that was ready in the yard.
"I'm leaving." He jumps into the car followed by Beth. The man was sitting on the passenger seat.
"I have to be there to make sure that you won't roar and fall unconscious."
"You sound like you're cursing me." Steve drives to the Willson mansion.
No one spoke throughout the trip. Beth gives Steve room to think clearly, but the man's mind is still no longer salvageable when their car stops in front of a wide open gate.
"The door to hell" Beth muttered softly. Steve could only smile on his side to hear Beth teasing him for the umpteenth time.
"I really don't understand your way of thinking, man." Beth just kept talking. There's a little debate between Steve and Willson's bodyguards when Beth forces her to come in without an invitation.
"Oh my God," Beth squealed as her eyes caught the figure of Harry standing so gallantly at the altar, waiting for the bride.
"The wedding is real. If you want to pull the trigger, now's the right time, Dude." Heartbroken Steve, panicked and chaotic Beth is like a possessed worm.
"No gun, Beth."
"You sure?" Beth felt the man's body and found nothing.
"Ck! They've done the checks. Keep your hands off my body!" The bead scanned all over. Keep a close eye on every move of the invited guests.
"Poisons. You brought your concoct poison? Give it to me, I'll put it in Harry's drink or food."
Steve simply rolled his eyes at Beth while shaking his head. Salute the evil thoughts scattered in the brains of his colleague.
"Steve's..."
"If you keep making a sound, don't blame me if your teeth aren't there anymore, Beth. My ears are buzzing at your babbling."
"I care about you, goddamn it!"
Beth snorted, and she immediately sat on the bench reserved for the guests who would be witnesses in this sacred event.
"You're sure Harry can make Lexi happy?"
"I'm sure he's capable." Steve looked at Harry who looked very handsome and stunning. Implied nervousness on his beautiful face. His mouth said a promise he would say later. A few more moments.
"Fuck you, motherfucker! Why do you look so calm, you son of a bitch!" Beth is really emotional.
He had better get out and grab a rifle from Willson's bodyguards and shoot Steve in the head to figure out what the man was thinking. Oh, Beth was really tempted to do it.
But it seemed that he had to undo his intentions when the voice of someone announcing that the bride was coming soon.
"My heart is pounding" Steve muttered, who immediately got a lazy shout from Beth.
"And in a moment, your heart will stop beating forever."
"Yes, my God, she's so beautiful."
Beth turned to follow where Steve's gaze was anchored. Lexi entered the room with her father. The two of them joined together so tightly. Veil covering Lexi's face did not hide the girl's beauty at all. Lexi looks really amazing. Beth admitted that.
As it passed by her, Lexi muttered a word of thanks with a smile.
"I'm so sorry for you, man." Beth patted Steve's shoulder in support. Steve only lowered his head for a moment before raising his head back to look forward where Lexi would be with the man of his choice.
"It's not too late, Steve."
"She's so pretty, isn't she?"
"Yes, but if you move slowly, in a few minutes you can't praise a woman who's the wife of another. That is how his tattoos are. How, you changed your mind?"
"Shut up!" Steve's voice sounded weak, not powerful.
"I think we should go. You're killing yourself slowly, man. What's in your brain right now?!"
Some of the invited guests turned to them because since their arrival, Beth just kept tweeting like mothers who were bidding at the market.
"You're here?" Darren stopped beside them. He asked his mother to sit down first.
"Yes. I have an invitation, not an intruder."
"Lexi has already made her choice," Darren muttered.
"Yes, I can see it."
"Then what are you doing?"
"Watch the choice."
Darren smiled blandly, "Lexi has made her choice, then why are you still here? Look at him with love. Are you being too loyal or do you want to be friends with wounds?" darren's words are so telling, but they're true.
Steve took a strong sip of saliva, the taste was extremely bitter overwhelming. He looked up, looking at Darren who was also looking at him with concern.
While they were talking, Harry was making a sacred promise aloud and straightforwardly without them realizing it.
"You just don't know how shaky my soul is when I have to be forced to change my prayer flow. It was no longer about Lexi being returned to me, but rather that my race towards her be immediately taken out of my heart. In fact, until this moment the taste is still there. None of my prayers were granted. Can you give me some advice, Darren. What am I supposed to do?"
"The bridegroom is welcome to kiss the bride," a voice is heard that marries Lexi and Harry, giving orders as a signal that both are legal to be husband and wife.
Steve, Darren and Beth were both shocked. They missed the sacred promise that was said.
Harry opened the veil that covered Lexi's face, the man smiled broadly, indicating how happy and relieved he was that Lexi was now his. Harry's two burly hands encapsulated Lexi's face which was also adorned with a sweet smile. Harry also eroded the distance of their faces. The man landed his lips on Lexi's forehead for so long and deeply.
Steve smiled wryly as he looked away, "We missed the climax and it's because of you, Darren." Steve lowered his head for the umpteenth time, a tear dripping down the back of his clutched hands. "Welcome to hell, Steven Percy."
