"So you mean, the woman killed herself. Carved seven letters on his forehead?" Darren stared at the investigator who handled Isla Ginevra's death case. The daughter of one of the famous businessmen who is also a good friend of Lexi.
Lexi screeched in disbelief at Darren's question after the brother exited the investigation room with his father. Lexi herself waited in the waiting room with her mother and Austin. The event was disbanded due to the unexpected incident. And now Lexi's growing distrustful of what she's hearing. Isla Ginevra killed herself? It's hard for Lexi to believe this considering Isla isn't the kind of person to get desperate easily. Isla is not a weak person who chooses to end his life if he is tripping over problems.
"Darren, what are you saying?"
"Isla killed herself." The man said succinctly.
Lexi shook her head, "That's impossible! Why would he kill himself in such a horrible way?" Lexi's crying broke again. "Dad" he approached his father. Pulling his father's hand with a hopeful look. "The building was full of CCTV, Isla couldn't have killed herself."
"CCTV is broken." His father's reply made his body tremble. Why could? He made sure everything was working and going well while he and Darren were on their way. Then how can it be broken?
"The only CCTV that works is outside the toilet. It was obvious that Isla carved the letter on her forehead before running and jumping, plunging down." His father pulled himself into the arms. Lexi hugged the middle-aged man tightly. Expose fear.
"Say this isn't right, Dad."
"If Daddy could say that." Pax took a deep breath. It was Darren who noticed them with an illegible expression. "The only fingerprints found were also Ms's fingerprints. Ginevra's."
"Why did Isla do it, Dad?"
His father took a deep breath for the umpteenth time. If Lexi doesn't believe what's going on, Pax does, and the man believes that Darren doesn't believe what they're seeing, even though Isla is right to do the terrible thing. There must be a reason behind Isla doing this. The question is, who pushed Isla to do this crazy thing? Logically, if Isla really wants to end her life, it is very unlikely that the woman did it by deliberately torturing herself to look very miserable.
"We'd better get home, '" Pax led Lexi out. The girl was still sobbing in his arms, while his mother rubbed his back, trying to calm him down.
"Czech..." The call of someone stopped the steps of those who were about to climb into the car. A bright brown braided little girl in two ran over with a bunch of balloons in her hands.
"Amor," Lexi knew the sweet girl. 10-year-old girl who works as a traveling merchant with her father and mother. Not just balloons, sometimes Amor and his parents sell flowers, paintings, and even accessories that are handmade.
He and Amor did not meet every day. Even sometimes in one month not necessarily the two meet because Amor and his parents always move when trading. At least that's what Amor explained.
"What are you doing here?" Amor tilted his head, staring at the police station with a frowning baffled forehead.
"Something's going on. You trade here? Where are your mom and dad?" Lexi loosened her gaze, looking for the figure of the old man of the little girl.
"They were going around. It's your birthday, isn't it?"
Lexi just nodded her head. Amor always remembers his birthday and always gives the same gift every year, which makes him also remember the girl.
"My arm hasn't been sold yet, but you can take a balloon and a romantic message, too" Amor gave a heart-shaped balloon as well as a glass jar filled with small rolled pieces of paper.
"Take it." Amor smiled, showing off two dimples on the face that made the girl look even more adorable.
'Don't let fear interfere with your freedom. Love life. You're always surrounded by a family where there's a lot of light. Never be afraid, for you always have candles around you when darkness comes your way.'
Lexi gave a big smile. Instantly his anxiety faded. As always, the words of encouragement in Amor's romantic jar are always able to lift his heart, like a magic spell deliberately made to offer his concussion and anxiety. Yes, what he was afraid of when his father, mother and two charming brothers always stood by his side.
Lexi took something from her bag. Two sweets and a few coins. Lexi crouched down, aligned their height.
"Your gift" the girl gave me the candy. "And this is for your savings." Lexi put the money in Amor's shabby sling bag.
"Thank you" Amor gave a kiss on Lexi's left cheek. "Additional gift." Amor took another jar from his trading basket. The little girl opened the jar and stirred up the contents. Take a random roll of paper and then give it to Lexi.
Lexi accepted it with joy. "I love you" Lexi read the inscription. Lexi giggled amusedly. Aside from her family, Amor is a stranger who always declares love for her. The crocodiles out there, of course, don't count.
"I love you too, sweet girl!" He pinched both cheeks of Amor. Anxious with the sweet behavior of the little girl. "thank you. When are you coming back? I'd like to invite you and your parents to lunch together and we'll play the whole thing at the amusement park."
Amor beads sparkle brightly. Which child is not happy to hear the amusement park. "It must be fun. I'll ask my mom and dad first. I'll see you soon to give you an answer. I have to go, I still have a lot of trading. See you, Lexi." The little girl waved her hand.
"Why don't you buy all the merchandise, honey?" Her mother helped her up, led her into the car.
"Amor won't give it, Mom. The little girl was very stubborn. I've offered that before. Amor answered that my kindness would only make him lazy and, worst of all, he would get used to the help I gave him. Amor didn't want that to happen."
"God, what a smart kid. You've known him for a long time?"
"Yes, long enough."
"How are you feeling now?"
"It's better. I'm sorry, Mom. I always worry you."
"That's because we love you so much. What if we go on vacation?"
"Oh, Mom, I really want to. But there's some work I need to finish this month."
"Focus on your work then. Don't think of anything else."
Without them realizing it, there had been someone watching their movements from afar. Men with black-eyed faceplates. Stalking at them like an eagle watching over a flock of chickens. As soon as Lexi's car and her family drove away, the man pulled out a cell phone to contact his master.
"They left the police station. Yeah, Lexi Willson looks pretty depressed as expected, Steve. The woman was hysterical as well."
"Good job, Leon." Steve disconnects the phone once he gets a report from one of his men who is also a confidant. Leon Nolan's.
