As usual, Jossie starts the morning by preparing breakfast for her as well as her children, Jorell and Jely.
Day has already shown the eight o'clock mark when Jossie is done with the job. Just wake up the kids and they'll have breakfast together. As he passed through his room to his children's room, his cell phone rang from inside his room. Jossie stopped her steps and turned inside her room.
"Mrs. da Costa?"
Jossie's heart stopped beating. Da Costa, that name has long been deferred from his name. Since he divorced. What was? Although she and her ex-husband have not met for two years, Jossie has never been calm. He always felt watched. So when he heard the name Da Costa back, he lost power in his legs. His knees were limp for a moment, his hands practically clutching tightly at his phone. Somehow the story he was sitting limp on the edge of the bed.
Hearing a name that is not foreign but already feels foreign and unlucky still gives a tremendous effect. Fearful. Yeah, Jossie was so scared. In her mind, her ex-husband will take Jorell and Jely from her. No, he can't let go of his children. Jorell and Jely are his life. Too much has been taken from him. He did not want the only treasure left behind to be taken by the man. What should he do now? Where else would he run and hide?
His instincts were right, he was never safe. They're always being watched. Jossie was sure of that.
"Jossie Da Costa." The sound that managed to make her jolt conscious of the terrible memories that she went through with her ex-husband.
"Mistake address..." Jossie was just about to disconnect, but a speech from across the phone stopped her.
"It's from the police."
A word-for-word barrage came from the sheriff's mouth saying her ex-husband, Santos Da Costa, was pronounced dead. Jossie's presence is expected to come soon. At the scene was found some personal belongings and a description of Jossie was required in that regard.
Although Jossie did not expect to see her ex-husband again, she also never expected that her meeting with her ex-husband was in such unexpected circumstances where the man was pronounced dead. His entire body shivered, this news news that was never in his shadow at all. Santos' death was never on his prayer list. He just didn't want to meet that guy. Not expecting his death.
"We look forward to your presence, Mrs. Da Costa's." The connection was cut off without him noticing.
"Mom..."
"Mom..."
Jorell and Jely ran into the room. Jossie only regained consciousness when her two children hugged her. Jossie had no idea how long he had been frozen and petrified. The presence of Jorrel and Jely made her startled confused. When did the kids come in?
How long has he been daydreaming? When he checked his phone, it was no longer connected.
Looking at the faces of her children, Jossie felt her heart ditch the pain. How he had to tell Jorell and Jely that their father was dead.
Her tears shed instantly. Putting his two children in his arms.
"Mom, why are you crying?" Jely asked, her tiny hands coiled around her mother's neck.
"Are we doing something wrong, Mom?" Jorell broke his embrace, his hands rubbing his mother's tears. "What's going on? Did Jely and I do something wrong?"
____
"Josse."
Austin and Beth looked at each other. The two men compactly called the new woman across the main hall.
"You know him?" Austin nosedived his eyebrows, staring at Beth and Jossie alternately.
"How did you get to know him?" Beth asked Austin a similar question.
"I don't know him." Austin's answer clearly confused Beth. "I only know his name." Austin added.
"Is there no explanation more ridiculous than the explanation you give?" Steve interrupted.
"She's the woman who was at the scene during the assault on the beach."
Steve's forehead is wrinkled. Is this a coincidence or what? Why was there a woman in the two events that befell them? Think Steve.
"Jossie, I didn't touch Santos, I couldn't have killed him. You believe me." Beth approached Jossie. The woman was still confused by the presence of two people she knew. Beth and Austin.
"W-what? You killed Santos?"
Beth shook her head in frustration. "That's what I'm accused of. And I don't know how that ridiculous accusation was leveled at me. This morning, I went to Juliet's cage to feed her. And I found a piece of hand...."
Jossie shrieked in horror to the point of shutting her mouth. "A-is Juliet an animal?"
Austin acknowledged the woman's careful focus amid the tension of the situation. You can immediately guess if Juliet is a pet from a brief explanation given by Beth.
"Tiger." Steve answered..
"Oh my God," the maniknya patterned for a moment. "What is a hand piece..."
"Not... That piece of hand doesn't belong to Santos."
"But pieces of his flesh were also found there, Mrs. Da Costa's." The police who had been silent since then finally opened their voices. "We also found this," the police gave a necklace that was bobbed with a ring known to Jossie as their wedding ring. Josie will never forget the ring. He and Santos made it specifically. There's their initials engraved there.
"It does belong to Santos and I'm not Mrs. Da Costa again since two years ago."
