"How are you doing?"
After dinner, Austin and Steve visit Darren in the room. The man refused to join the meal together and asked the waiter to drive him to his room.
"You asked out of concern or curiosity," Darren responded to Steve's question lazily. Honestly, he also did not expect the presence of the two men. He was just about to take a break when Austin and Steve's faces appeared in the doorway. Free to shoo away blatantly, Darren knew the two would not heed him.
"I care also curious" said Steve in an amused tone. Steve could immediately guess if Darren still held back his frustration, but he had no intention at all to apologize. According to him, Isabell's misunderstanding was not entirely his fault. He only spoke in passing, Darren responded to his chirping excessively.
"You're so considerate," Darren flashed a cynical look.
"That's because you're a brother that my wife loves so much."
"If you don't have such urgent business, you two better get out of my room" the expulsion was carried out in a calm voice and minimal expression.
"We met Jossie" Austin ignored the expulsion and began the topic. The man sat on the edge of the bed while Steve pulled out a chair for him to sit on. Darren could only resign when the two men did not heed the expulsion he did, instead both took their respective positions.
"You still remember that, don't you? Jossie, the mother of Jorell and Jely," Austin explained as not a response from Darren. Although Austin believes Darren remembers the woman but the possibility of Darren forgetting Jossie also exists even though the possibility is very small.
"Hmm," Darren muttered, not showing his enthusiasm at all.
"You know if Jossie is Julio Moore's daughter?" austin's questions are a little urgent. Darren let go of his indifference, staring at his brother and Steve alternately. Austin's face was more tense than Steve's. Yeah, no surprise at all. Darren is convinced that nothing will make Steve panic, fear, other than the danger that lurks Lexi.
"Yes. We talked about it."
"Why didn't you tell me."
"Why should I tell you? I don't think we're brothers spending time talking about one woman."
Steve laughed loudly at Darren's words. Austin's kick in his shin didn't make the man stop laughing at all.
"I hope you guys don't like the same woman" this time Darren glares at her. Clearly Darren knew what his in-law statement meant. But what power, wanting to beat Steve, the wound behind his back has not healed completely. In a few days, he swore to fulfill his wish. Giving a sweet warning to his dearest brother-in-law with his bogem.
"We like the same woman?" Austin scratched his forehead. Next his frowning interpreted Steve's light statement that suddenly felt heavy. "Never before in history" Austin was convinced and very sure. His female tastes were different to his brother's and as Darren said, they rarely engaged with one woman and on second thought, their friendship styles were different as well. Austin has a myriad of women, whether it's just acquaintances or maybe partners for fun. Austin was not picky, as long as he enjoyed it, it was not about the type or seed, bebet, and weight. Happy and satisfied. Two words to be her friend.
Darren tends to cover up his personal life. Did Darren never date after Oleshia died. Obviously ever.
"And hopefully you and he didn't make history. I can't imagine you and him both pointing guns at just one woman" Steve tried to hold back his laughter. Darren's sharp-wielding gaze pretended he had ignored. He had no idea since when flirting with Darren was so much fun.
"That will never happen," Austin flicked his hand lazily.
"What if it happens, what will you do?"
Darren could not stand it anymore, he immediately sat down and threw a kick to Steve's leg which was avoided by his brazen brother-in-law.
"What exactly do you want to say? You sound like you're cursing at us."
Steve's laughter returned, "What kind of accusation is this? I'm just asking, not praying. Austin responded casually to why you were using your muscles."
Darren curses with a rude swearing, his actions again and again become entertainment for Steve.
"That will never happen. Austin and I will never be stuck with one woman. If that happens, I will stop it. Stop talking about something that will never happen. You better get out of my room. My blood sugar goes up just from looking at your face."
"I know my face is beautiful." Steve clasped his hands together in his chest. The patent-poky act practically got an upset vote from Darren and Austin.
"Jossie is divorced from her husband" Austin returns the subject to the beginning.
"Oh yeah?" Darren's response was relaxed and light. Unsurprised and unenthusiastic as if he knew it.
"Do you know that?" guess Austin.
"No" he said briefly. When Jossie visited him at the hospital, he could already guess.
"His husband has just been declared dead." This time Darren showed a reaction. His eyebrows swooped and his forehead shriveled.
"Did?"
"Beth is a suspect. But we managed to release him on bail. So tell me what you know about Jossie other than she's Julio Moore's daughter."
"She's Jorell and Jely's mother."
"Other than that?"
"Nothing."
"His address?"
"Not knowing."
"Jorell and Jely's school?"
"Don't know. What's all this for?"
"To free Beth of all charges."
"What does this have to do with Jossie. She and her husband are divorced. Don't involve..."
"His ex-husband is thought to be Bartoli's son." This time Steve opened his voice.
"Bartoli attacked us on the beach? That's not the Isabell they're after?"
Steve and Austin nodded. This is just their guess but neither Steve nor Austin are convinced by the allegation. Since her divorce from Jossie, Santos has left her job. The information that Santos is likely to have something to do with Bartoli they got from Roxi. Roxi will not provide any information if he still has doubts about the allegations. However, Beth's statement that Santos was raised by a married couple da Costa raises little doubt. Da Costa's wife's husband was a very devout resident. Mr. Da Costa was even a very devout priest. This fact is justified by local people. Honey, Mr and Mrs. Da Costa died ten years ago in an accident so Austin and Steve could not test Santos' DNA test with the couple.
"How are you sure of that allegation."
"The result will be out in a few days. Steve took a sample of the blood and asked Roxi to test it. Does the sample match Bartoli's blood samples that are still stored by the FBI."
"It's getting confusing. We were attacked just because of two little kids who happened to play with us. If the DNA of the two matches, then what is the problem? We have nothing to do with Jossie and her kids. I think the shooting was too much, unless we were being watched in the first place. I'm not sure this is just about Jossie and her kids."
A knock at the door stopped the conversation.
"Come in," Darren gave the order without turning his head. It was time to take the medicine, he was sure one of the servants who came to deliver the medicine.
"I feel familiar with Jely, he reminds me of someone. I just forgot who that person was."
"Your sentence is very ambiguous, my friend." Steve stood up from his place, intending to return to his room.
As he turned around, a witty whistle shot out from his mouth, making Darren and Austin turn their heads. The first second, both were amazed. The next second, Darren and Austin coughed.
"I came to get your dirty dishes and deliver your medicine." Isabell sauntered leisurely, refusing to look at Darren or Austin in the face. He put the medicine on the nightstand. Then lift the tray containing the dirty dishes.
"What happened to you?" The question came out of Austin's mouth. There was no dress that resembled a sack of rice covering his body. Isabell wore jeans combined with long-sleeved black knitwear.
"Ask him where the tooth fence is and the glasses are thick?" This question comes from Darren.
