You're Just Mine

"What did you get?"

Steve put two sodas on the table. His gaze was fixed on Austin who was pulling in his cigar.

"There was nothing suspicious in his house. Looks like that woman isn't interested in Lexi's marriage either."

Steve nodded, he had also expected that Olivia would not ruin this marriage.

"Yes, Arthur cares. That guy wanted your sister a long time ago."

Austin threw away his cigarette butts. His face turned serious. The Arthur he knew was a man who was enslaved and always kept calm. Sometimes Austin also wonders, how could Arthur participate in the gambling of the rich men. And that guy loses more often than he wins gambling. However, the man would still come again and again. If you remember, Arthur was always at important events that Lexi always attended.

"Pedophiles?"

Steve clucked, though he hated the fact there were other men who wanted Lexi as much as he wanted and who waited for Lexi for as long as he did, but the term pedophile could not be pinned on Arthur Cony. The man was only slightly mature compared to them.

"Your sister isn't a leak to be fooled with a candy bar."

Austin did not respond to Steve's statement that sounded ridiculous but true.

"What did Harry do when the hurrah happened?" Austin asked after a while. He does not know what happened in his family's mansion because for 24 hours he had to supervise Olivia's movements on Steve's orders. And his lookout didn't get any results. Only Arthur can be seen coming to Olivia's house.

"I still can't believe you really let Lexi pick another guy." Austin picked up a can of soda, sipped it into the toilet, then crushed the packaging and threw it into a trash can a few meters away.

Steve pointed at the shoulder, "That's his wish."

"And you take it for granted."

"You and Pax are the same. I always wanted to know what I was thinking. Is this what love says in hate?"

"Support a little to my father."

Steve chuckled, "That's how I respect him. What do we do now?"

"Saving my brother. What did her husband do?"

"His husband," Steve took a deep breath as if on his shoulder there was such a heavy weight of the world. "Husband... Harry is her husband. Maybe that guy's been asking for his country's help."

"illness?"

Steve curses, blurting out a slovenly sentence that makes Austin laugh. "Love is ridiculous. A sane person can go crazy. The crazy can be sane."

"Can you call someone who describes the second option?"

"Lexy. He's like a madman when he talks over the dirt he believes you're underground, you'll listen to all his grievances. And once he finds out you're alive. He stopped the madness by choosing a prince to be made husband. Only a madman chooses a criminal, Dude. Lexi proved that she wasn't crazy."

Steve kicked the table until it hit the shin of his ex-sister-in-law that didn't happen. Austin's laughter is exploding.

"You're a former criminal, Dude."

____

Arthur looked at Lexi's face that was still unconscious. Their smile always expands on his face which does look calm. The evil that managed to fool everyone. His fingers occasionally rubbed Lexi's smooth, white cheeks.

"Oh my God, this is how it feels" said the man in a choked voice as he was nervous amid his burning feelings.

"Patience is always sweet. Decades, decades I've been watching you, My Dear. The descendants of Gerald Ivander. Awesome tough guy. I admire you as much as I admire her. Your father took me off the streets in shivering and starvation. I was a teenager then, still very small. He took my hand, led me into his luxury car and invited me to live with the people he also saved. He gave us a decent life. Far from hunger and cold. He's a very good man."

"Now, I've got you. Keeping Deville's bloodline is my duty, my proof of my service to her. Besides all that, you're driving me crazy. Your face looks very funny when holding back sleepiness and forcing yourself to hear a lesson that I think is very boring. We both dislike history and archaeology. It's a sign that we're both partners, isn't it?" Arthur paused his words, a low laugh coming out of his mouth. He imagined the times he entered Lexi's classroom. The moment that he was waiting for because by looking at the radiance of the eyes and the smile of the girl made his immunity increase.

"Now, awake. I want to see that beautiful bead of yours, honey." Athur saw a clock in his hand. Lexi should have woken up from her sleep.

"Your hair is beautiful." Arthur twisted the long hair in his fingers, carried it to his nose and inhaled its scent voraciously.

"Every Brian talks about you, I have to refrain from pulling his tongue or smashing his head."

"Yes, my God, you're really very tasty and fragrant." Arthur again inhaled the scent of Lexi's hair, to the point that the man closed his eyes.

Arthur opened his eyes as he felt movement on the bed. His smile expanded because finally the woman was conscious.

With his heart pounding, Arthur waited for Lexi to open her eyes.

Slowly, the eyes began to move open. Lexi narrowed her eyes as she adjusted the bright lights.

"You're finally awake."

Lexi turned to the side, her forehead frowning at the familiar figure. His life was still not perfectly collected until only confusion was visible.

"Mrs. Cony?"

"Yes, how are you?"

"What are you doing here?"

"This is my room, my house, which will later become your home as well. Our house."

That's where Lexi started to wake up. Memories work. He remembered that today was the day of his wedding with Harry, even both of them were legal to become a couple until the commotion occurred. A masked man came in and beat his mother.

Lexi spontaneously sat down, away from the man. His face was pale, he was afraid. They were just the two of them there, in a room that could be said to be quite spacious and luxurious.

"Why did you ruin my marriage and why did you hit my mother, Mr. Cony?"

"Hey, don't panic, don't be nervous. I'm not gonna hurt you, Lexi. Calm down."

"How can I calm down! You kidnapped me!"

"I didn't kidnap you, they kidnapped you. I took you back to take you home to where you were supposed to be."

"What do you mean?!"

"I mean, you're mine. Only mine. And I'm sorry for my delay in coming to pick you up."

Lexi gawked, staring at Mr. Cony with a horrified expression. What did that man say?

"W-what happened to my mom?"

"I don't know. It might have exploded, and it might still be alive if they were lucky. And she's not your mother, honey."

Lexi shuddered as Athur called it with a word of affection that suddenly sounded very disgusting.

"He was your father's killer. Pax and Alena killed your father, and your mother."
