"So you're in love?"
Lexi blushed in embarrassment at the question of her mother who had just walked into her room while bringing food for her.
"Ouh, Mom can see both your cheeks meet like fresh tomatoes ready to harvest." His mother teased him more. "Tell me what happened last night?" the middle-aged woman, who still looked very beautiful, put a tray on the nightstand, then sat on the edge of the bed, next to her daughter.
"I'll tell you something different, Mom."
"As usual, more detail than you told Pax Willson?"
The two women chuckled, "Yes, it's because we're girls. You must understand what I'm feeling, Mom!" Lexi arranged her sitting position as comfortably as possible. Sitting cross-legged, sitting with his mother. Then he held both of his mother's hands, carrying them to his chest. "You hear me, Mom?"
"Mom can feel it." Alena chuckles amusedly at the innocence of her daughter. "Your heart explodes just because you remember it. Is that what you're trying to say?"
"Oh, Mom! You are the one who understands me the most. This is what I'm trying to say. I felt that thump again, Mom. I also felt my whole body burning hot when I was near him. This is the second time I've felt anything like this." His face turned gloomy, a long sigh slid from his mouth.
"Isn't that a good sign, dear." Her mother touched her face. The woman's warm smile was very powerful. He can always change his changing mood.
"I feel like I'm being betrayed."
"On your ghost lover?"
"Mom!" Lexi whines spoiled. The name ghost lover started from Darren. Now, everyone often teases him that way. It was because of her never being involved with any man after Steven was declared dead.
"It looks like I should go visit him and ask his permission."
His mother smiled at the words of her daughter. He thought Pax and himself were the craziest people when it came to love. In fact, Lexi is more than them. But that's love, always crazy, isn't it? It is not love if it is not crazy.
"Do it if it makes you comfortable. I think he'd be very happy if you decided to open your heart to another man. By the way, doesn't that mean you're going on a date with that guy?" search mother.
"She asked me to be her lover, Mom!' Lexi jumped to her feet. Both of his hands touched his face which was back in heat.
"Yeah, wow! But I ruined everything." The girl sat back down. "I'm freaking out, I..." Lexi was suddenly nervous. His fingers were clinging to each other, crumpling each other until his nail book turned white. Alena noticed this, then touched her hand, releasing the link slowly.
"You've got it right, honey. You did something right." Her mother's gentle speech managed to catch her attention completely. He almost drowned on the scene last night. He was crazy and hysterical until he fell unconscious in Steve's arms. In the morning, Steve acted as if nothing had happened. The man did not ask any questions at all. Of course he was grateful for that.
"You're rejecting him?" guess mother.
Lexi nodded quickly. "I like it but I refuse."
"Good, let him try to grab your heart even more nimble. Let him convince you. Your heart is still locked in the past. Steven turned you down, the guy you've liked since you knew what love was. And when you feel the same way, at the same time, you're not sure that guy really likes you."
"Well, Mom." Lexi nodded quickly. "I know when I fall in love and love. I don't know if I'm loved or not. Do I get the same taste as I give."
"Sometimes we have to take more risks, Lexi. Your rejection is the right thing, to protect yourself and your feelings. But, how do you know and be sure that you are really wanted if you don't live it. It's just that, when maintaining a relationship, don't give up your heart completely. Leave some to give you strength when in other parts of your heart are incised with hurt and disappointment. But, no matter what results you get while in the relationship, be prepared for the worst possible. Get rid of your fears that always haunt and gnaw you. Isn't Mom, Dad, Darren and Austin always by your side, honey. Welove you. And we want to see you happy. Really happy. Not pretending to be happy."
Lexi flinched, "I'm not pretending, Mom. I happy. Really."
"Yes, you're pretending to be happy just because you don't want to deal with the doctor anymore."
"Oh, Mom." It's busted. "Consultations, therapy, everything is depressing me. I want to forget everything. The doctor's question seemed hypnotic, forcing me back into the past. I saw all the bad and terrible things. I was overwhelmed because I felt bad. I'm..."
"Sstt... Relax, Sweetheart. Forgive us. You won't see a doctor again. It won't." Alena overhears what Steve has to say to Pax and Darren. He's surprised if Lexi they're so depressed.
He was also fooled, thinking that Lexi was completely healed. The girl tried hard to look okay in front of all. Both in the family, environment and friendship. Until Lexi forgets what she really wants. All Lexi did was to be a kind, obedient and kind girl in front of everyone. After a few years, his daughter fell in love again, with the same man, whose daughter she did not know. I don't know what's gonna happen if Lexi finds out everything. All her husband and son do is protect Lexi and all she does is encourage the girl to be more open with her feelings. If Steve has any ulterior intent by approaching Lexi, let Lexi know. He believes Lexi will be bolder, stronger and possibly free from the shackles of the past after knowing everything firsthand.
"I'm sorry, Mom."
Alena took her daughter into her arms. If Pax thinks Lexi will be blinded by an obsession-covered love, this time their views are different. All this time, Alena had always supported whatever Pax's decision was, but not this time because what Alena saw, Lexi had a cotton-white sincerity. The girl he raised must know what love and obsession are. It's time Lexi gave her the colors of her life. Wounds, laughter, tears, disappointments, and tears are not all components that make us more alive, forming us to be wiser, stronger and stronger. And all those things also teach humans to appreciate their loved ones more. And most importantly, it was the twists and turns of life that brought Pax and Alena to this point. The point that is said with a perfect life. Happiness is unstoppable. And Alena wants, Lexi feels the same way. Happiness that cannot be said with words, but can be felt.
"Be more honest and brave with your feelings, dear. If in the end, it's a game, all you do is follow the rules of the game and learn the tricks."
