CHAPTER 40: BEING PART OF IT (3)

"If you have something to say, say it and stop looking at me like that."

Josh takes his eyes off his father and focuses on the food in front of him. "I don't think I need to question you."

"Huh?" Mike is quite confused by his son's current behavior. Normally, his son would talk like a nerd in front of him or show him about his ideas in some new discovery, but now Josh is just learning his every move since he's at home.

"I mean, impulsive dad, you like to scare people, you know, I like to use other people's weaknesses if they don't give you what you want and somehow I like to let people feel your dark aura like a bad person. In other words, I have no doubt whether father is a part of them or not." The crack in Mike's mouth opened slightly when he heard his son's words. He did not understand why his son said such a thing.

Mike doesn't hold a grudge against his own son, after all, what Josh says is all true and Mike can't deny all that, but he got no reason why his son suddenly gave rise to his not-so-good personality. "What do you mean tell me this? And what do you mean I'm part of them?"

Josh ignored his father and turned his attention to his mother who was eating quietly, "Mom, what do you see from dad?" Ever since Josh understood his father's personality and when he compared him to his very gentle, kind and graceful mother, he began to doubt whether his father was threatening his mother for forced marriage.

"I don't know. Now that I think about it, what do I see in your father?" Mike does not believe that his wife will actually play around with their unreasonable child.

"Hey, don't talk about me like that as if I weren't here" Mike grumbled but the mother and daughter were deaf to him. Mike's wife likes to tease him whenever the opportunity arises, her husband is not the type to show his emotions and when he does it only when he is around his family.

Mike is a scary type of person and he wonders what he saw on Mike. When she first sees Mike she is scared, deeply afraid she even tries to avoid him but fate has its own plans for the two of them and their short story ends together; the; the result of their love was born Josh who has half the personality of his father.

"Dad, can I see what kind of organization you're following?" Josh asked his father, he was indeed very curious about the organization Anna and Aaron mentioned earlier and to dispel his curiosity he followed their advice to ask the person directly involved in it and that person coincidentally, he was his father.

Mike is surprised by his son's question, as is Mike's wife. They were so shocked that they did not know what to say. "Uhh... Does silence mean yes?" Josh asked again.

Mike frowned and asked, "Where did you hear that shit?" He lied, he didn't want to admit that he was part of an organization or let his son see what kind of organization it was.

He was a man who if he wanted something, he would get it by any means, but he did not want his son to follow his dirty path, a dangerous path. He wants Josh to live the way he wants and not where danger lurks everywhere.

'M-mary?'

Mike looked towards his wife for help explaining to their son but to his disappointment, he, he pretends that there is an important call he must answer and leaves Mike and his son alone in silence. Mike's wife is not part of the organization but she knows that her husband is part of it and she doesn't mind, in fact, being, she and Mary were quite close during their college days and Mary is the reason why she and her husband have a strong relationship up until now.

Mike sighed before answering his son, "I can't just take you there. You have to prove to dad that you deserve to step in Mary's territory." There was no need for any more unimportant conversations and Mike immediately said the point seriously to his son.

"Why do I have to prove myself?"

"Because even though you're my son, I'd be biased with you and Mary to have high standards in terms of skill. So do you just want to see or join? You just need to get Mary's attention and I'm not gonna help you." Mike looked at his son straight through his eyes in seriousness, "If you're my son, you better not let me down."

After their peaceful dinner, Mike went straight to his study and called Mary. After a few rings, Mary finally answered and before Mary could speak, Mike complained to her.

"Fuck Mary! Why did you tell my son about that damn organization?" Mike was really upset by the fact that Mary told her son about the organization, when she had clearly told him in the past that it was she who had to tell her son about it.

Mary frowned at the allegations Mike claimed about her. This was the third phone he received tonight; first it was Leonardo who told him that his twins had inadvertently told his daughter about the organization and his daughter asked him to allow her to join; second is Zack who complains like a baby that his son is angry at him for hiding the truth about the organization and also complains about his twin son saying something to his son about the organization that caused Zen to be angry with him; and now Mike calls and accuses him of doing something he didn't do but also complains about the organization his son learned about.

"What are you talking about? I didn't tell your son anything." When Mike hears the tone in Mary's voice and believes that Mary is telling him, he then realizes that his son is testing her. 'That kid... How did she know that Mary's words were greater than mine?'

"If not who are you then?" Mike felt that he should have asked first instead of accusing her. He knew very well that if someone accused him of doing something without proof, he would most likely make him regret it.

"Maybe my twins. Previously Leo and Zack called and were just like you but in a different way, they both complained that my twins told Nathalia, Zen, and your son about the organization." Maria sighs. Mouth babbling. "Don't worry, I'll do something with my twins. I won't side with them." After he said that, he hung up the phone.
