CHAPTER 67: ERIK UNDERMINES HIS PLANS

When Anna left the Robertson residence, it was almost dinner time and when the food was already put on the table that was when Kyle finally showed himself to everyone at home with Erik. When the two entered the dining room, the first two faces they saw were Kyle's sister and his father. Their faces were filled with wrinkles as if they were furious that Kyle was home.

"Is that how you welcome me now?" She asked. He wondered what he was doing to make his father and sister look at him like that. He looked at his quiet mother and asked again, "What did I do to them?"

To be honest, Layla was also very sad because of her son. From the time he spent together. Anna though it was brief, she felt the same feeling as her husband and daughter felt towards Anna. For them, Anna is more worthy of the future hostess of the Robertson family. She also wanted to help her daughter pair up her son and Anna, but she also knew it would be difficult to pair them. In her perspective, Anna is a dense girl (sensitive gown), she won't realize it until someone tells her and to her son, she's denser than Anna; he did not like women approaching him and it would be a huge headache to pair them together.

"You didn't do anything, except the fact you didn't come home early." Layla just casually said as she elegantly cut off half the food on her plate.

"Oh! I can explain!" Erik gladly offered to explain why Kyle had just come home at this hour. "I kind of forced Kyle into the club with me. You know where the hot chicks are there." After Erik says that, he waits for praise from Lannie for her successful job for successfully dragging Kyle to the club, but instead, he gets a dagger-like look from Lannie. Her heart sank for a reason; normally, Lannie would say 'Good work dragged my brother to that place!', but now she didn't say anything and just glared at him. Didn't he do a great job?

Layla watches her daughter who is angry because of what Erik just said. Before his daughter could run amok on Erik and Kyle, he gestured for the boy to stop talking and join them for dinner.

After their dinner, Lannie stood up and went somewhere. Kyle was confused because his sister was unusually quiet throughout the meal. It's not the first time he's like that, but every time he's like that he's not in a good mood.

"Who made him angry?" She asked. Stan wanted to say 'You and Erik of course.' but he just shrugged as if he didn't know the real reason why his daughter was like that.

After a while, Lannie returned with a small plate in her hand and there was a piece of cake inside. She put it in front of her brother and said, "Eat it."

Kyle looked at. Why did he tell her to eat cake? His sister knew he was not a big fan of cake. Why would he want Kyle to eat it?

Seeing his sister would not stop bothering him until he ate the cake, so he simply obeyed her and bit her. The whole family watched her enjoy the cake while anticipating what comments she would make. "Not bad." She said. Although many times she was forced to eat cake by her mother and sister, this was the first time she did not complain and instead liked how the cake tasted. The mother and daughter were both surprised and happy. "Which shop did you buy this from?" ask Kyle. This is the first cake she likes and she may want more in the future.

Finally, a smile appeared on Lannie's face and said, "I didn't buy it and nobody bought the cake."

"You made it?" She asked.

"No."

"Then who?" Kyle grew impatient with the incompleteness of the information he got from his sister. 'Is it so difficult for him to answer me directly?'

"This is Anna's thank you cake. Anna Coleman." said Lannie emphasizing Anna's full name. She hoped her brother would not forget the fairy-like Anna.

Hearing the name of the person who made the cake, Kyle was surprised but he did not show it on his face. Who knew someone like Anna who came from a very wealthy family would know how to make cakes. Because usually, girls who come from rich families will always lie that they make it themselves but actually, they just buy it or have someone else make it. But Kyle does not doubt Anna, he immediately believes that Anna made the cake. And for some unknown reason, she was glad Anna made a special cake for her.

"Cue a thank you? Why is he thanking me?" Lannie was relieved that her brother had not forgotten Anna, so she happily said to him. "That time on the show you saved him from those disgusting old men. He was here before, by the way, he wanted to thank you personally but you were busy at the club."

As he said this, he sent Erik a dagger-like look and when Erik realized, he immediately knew why Lannie was angry with him earlier. 'I just ruined his plan, didn't I?' Erik formed his lips into a thin line, now he knew how serious Lannie was in matchmaking her brother with Anna.

When Kyle heard that, he suddenly felt he had to blame Erik for missing Anna's presence.
