"It's really pretty" Stan said suddenly and everyone in the room was shocked, especially his wife and Anna.
Layla knew her husband was just saying this without any other intention. After all, she knew her husband liked to appreciate beautiful things, whether they were living things or just things. What made Layla unhappy was the fact her husband was not careful with what she said; it certainly sounded like a compliment and such, she said, unless her husband should know that the person she just praised is not the type to be praised. Anna's current state was in an awkward state and she was probably thinking of escaping.
Layla pinched the gap between her eyebrows and coughed twice to get her husband's attention.
Hearing his wife's cough, he immediately looked at his wife with a worried look. "Are you sick? Should I take you to the hospital?" Layla smiled at how her husband was panicking about her health.
"no need. I just want you to shut up." Layla ruthlessly said to him. Although she was happy because her husband was worried about her health, it did not mean their guest was not in an awkward state because of her husband. However, she was quite confused for someone like Anna; she should have blushed or been embarrassed by what her husband had just said, but it seemed that Anna did not like to be praised. 'How strange.'
As Layla finished her sentence, Stan immediately closed his mouth. 'What do I do?' He asked himself. Anna calmed herself from her awkward state and smiled sweetly at the two people in front of her. "It's nice to see you again Mr. Robertson. Mrs Robertson, nice to finally meet you in person."
The way Anna said it was filled with elegance and politeness. Mr and Mrs Robertson were pleased with Anna's behaviour. Layla and Stan smiled, as did Lannie; lannie was about to signal Anna to sit down, but her father suddenly pulled her near his mother. "Where's your brother?" He asked in a low tone that only Lannie and Layla could hear..
Now that Stan knows who the girl his daughter mentioned, he suddenly feels like maybe Lannie was right. Maybe her daughter was right about Anna and maybe her future daughter-in-law, after all, she has been eyeing Anna to become the next hostess in the Robertson family in the future since she saw Anna at her grandfather's birthday party.
Lannie frowned at the question her father had just asked. "Isn't that what I just asked you two a moment ago?" Sometimes Lannie thinks her dad is stupid sometimes. He had just asked the same question to his mother and father, but none of them knew the answer. But now, his father was asking the same question. If he asked them then it meant that he did not know the answer either. Why ask him?
"Bad boy..." Stan gritted his teeth as he said this, he could not finish his sentence. Sometimes his daughter is too heavy for him to handle.
Lannie comes out of her father's grip and signals Anna to sit down. As the two of them sat down, Lannie realized Anna was holding a box. "What's inside that?" ask Lannie.
Lannie opened the box and she noticed the cake was well made and it smelled good too; she bet that this cake would taste good too. "Where did you buy this?" He asked with a curious look.
"I made it." Anna was actually proud of the cake in Lannie's hand. Of all the cakes he made yesterday, it was the only perfect cake and the rest were either charred or not ripe well. The only thing Anna wasn't sure about was the taste of the cake.
"You made it?" Lannie asked to make sure she didn't hear wrong. Anna nodded and Lannie knew Anna was not the type to appreciate someone's work, so she trusted Anna right away. Suddenly Lannie remembered the reason Anna was here and a wide smile appeared on her face. "Is this for my brother?"
"Well... Yeah, it's a thank you cake." After Anna said this, her eyes were wondering for the person she should thank.
Lannie notices Anna's eyes wandering around and instantly finds out she is looking for her brother. "I'm sorry Anna, my sister isn't here yet and I don't know what time or day she'll be back. B-but, don't worry I'll make sure my brother gets your handmade cake." Although Lannie said this in a regretful tone, but deep down, she was burning with anger and disappointment. Her brother actually did this on purpose to her and she would make him pay for it.
When Anna heard him she was quite happy, but at the same time she was very disappointed in her heart. He had not noticed it yet, but deep down he really wanted to see Kyle again and it was a big problem that Anna herself had to solve in the near future. "T no, it's okay. Maybe he's busy."

Time has passed and Kyle still hasn't come home. This made Lannie even more angry as time went on. His sister completely ruined his plans for Anna's visit and he actually did.
"I have to go now. I had something with my mother and sister." Anna said while looking at the clock on her phone. Although Kyle is not around, Anna can still get along with Lannie and her parents. And for him, the time he spent here was not in vain, he might not see Kyle today, but he felt he would soon meet him again.
