My Heart Was Wounded Deep
Chapter 17's

The noise woke Kikan up. Previously he had woken up because his neck hurt, after looking down at his desk and then walked slowly to the mattress, his bed. He could only rest for a while today, he was too busy, too anxious, too worried. Tiredness has overcome all that, even though he still feels restless. Kikan kept thinking about the letter from Lori's family, and the threat it contained. This is their city, according to the family. Lori City. Kikan did not know if Logan, Lori's older brother who sent the most rude letter, would really "make her regretful" as the man said. But this noise was not only caused by the barking dog making a commotion, from the direction where his mother lived.

Kikan blinked in the darkness as the wooden stairs of his house door creaked again. Is anyone trying to get in? The fact that finding a way to break in was not a difficult matter, made Kikan aware that his residence was very vulnerable. He opened the window because the afternoon weather was so warm and he had no AC to turn on. Then he was too busy with work so he did not remember to close the window before going to bed. Logan could easily break the glass of the middle room window next to the stairs and sneak in....

with her heart racing up to her throat, Kikan got out of bed and searched the room until he found a club. It was all he had to defend himself, but he was determined not to let the logan prevent him from being part of Jason's life. He had suffered enough because of Lori's death for not doing anything wrong to Lori. In addition to a few phone calls before the accident, it could be said Kikan was punished for falling in love with Rey Stinson. His infatuation feelings used to make him a "motif".

"Who is that?" he hated hearing his voice tremble. He must sound assertive enough to convince Logan not to try anything, but it seems the man is not forcing his way in. Kikan heard a faint thud, as if Logan dropped something on his porch and then another thump and footsteps moved away.

Kikan held the baton firmly trying to cross the hallway towards the front door, shouting loudly "Don't fuck around."

Kikan looked at the back of the tall body figure dressed in black with a headscarf. He heard the man cry "Fuck, let's go!" That person had left his property towards the highway, too far away for Kikan to pursue.

"Kikans?"

The barking dog had also woken his mother.

"It's okay" he said, squinting to see in the dark, wanting to make sure that there was nothing. There's no one else in their yard, is there?

No one could see him, the man he had seen running away from two medium-sized boxes at his doorstep.

Kikan wondered what crime the townspeople were planning, while using a club to poke the boxes so as not to need to be too close, he said, He believed the cardboard contained a snake or something unpleasant to threaten him with. He was so sure of his conjecture that he did not want to open the box. But one of the boxes was torn when it hit the floor and the one that came out of it did not look dangerous or unpleasant at all.

From what he could see, it was clothes. Kikan tried to open the cardboard wider, there was canned food, which caused the cardboard to sound so loud when it hit the floor.

there's no way Logan or anyone would bring him clothes and food. Is there any bad intention behind this? and what's in the other box? which is undamaged and open. Kikan remained vigilant by looking back to check if anyone was there. If Logan intended to harm him, he would not have come all the way just to deliver the canned food.

The atmosphere in Kikan's residence was so quiet, there was no movement, no sound.

"Kikans?"

"i heard something, otherwise they couldn't have acted that way!" mother urges.

"It's just me, chasing a rat." Whatever the guest brought, his mother didn't need to know enough that the woman was tortured by being ostracized by the people around.

"Be careful, son," his mother warned. "Nobody in this town likes you."

" I know, mom.you tell me that every day," he said, but it wasn't loud enough that it could be heard until his mother's abode.

"You hear me?" Tukas.

Kikan spoke louder. "I hear you, don't worry. I can take care of myself." he said trying hard.

"Come in and lock the door" his mother urged

"I'm going in" said Kikan, but instead kept circling the cardboard. Whatever it is, he must get rid of it first.

Once again using a club, Kikan poked the cardboard that had been opened. It is clothes. As he had seen before, the cardboard also contained various canned foods. And there's a shoe box. At first Kikan thought it was a place to store rat carcasses, but after it was opened, he saw it clearly.... Running shoes.

"What's this?" muttered. The clothes were for women, there was no writing attached, or blood she could see. Everything looks good and new.

Other items are also the same, still with labels including some packaged foods filled in a second cardboard.

Kikan... Clear liquid dropped from his eyes. "Oh god..."

Who brought these things for him.
