Kikan took a deep breath to ease the anger that was flowing within him and, strangely suddenly he wanted to cry.
Fortunately, he could hold back tears. Kikan did not know why he turned whiny after getting out of prison. If the other prisoners knew this, they would make fun of him. "Who replaced the fight?" ask Kikan. "Did the police come there?"
" no. It was just a quarrel between two men. The barista who broke them up not long after you left" Devan said.
Kikan clenched his hands. "Then how?"
"We're all gone too."
" Rey's bleeding. I saw it. I saw it." said Kikan.
Devan shrugged his shoulders. "His nose is bleeding. The wound may be swollen in the next few days, but Logan's hand may be broken and his eye may also be swollen. You should have seen his eyes."
Kikan doesn't want to see Logan's eyes. He only wants what has passed let it pass, he wants them all to forget it. "Rey doesn't have to get involved. I don't know why he got involved, and got himself hurt."
" Something has to be done, kikan. Logan can't keep torturing you. I feel sorry for Logan, for his sister. But you've already served the sentence."
" I didn't kill him" Kikan said, long ago he stopped convincing people.it was very painful to be treated with skepticism and doubt, but he cared about what Devan thought of him. despite hoping otherwise, Kikan cares about the opinions of Rey's friends.
Devan looked at Kikan for a while. "So that's why he did it" Devan said.
Kikan doesn't understand. "meaning?"
" I think he believes you."
Did ya? Kikan was almost afraid to hope. Her biggest concern is that Rey and Jason will be able to know, or tell in their hearts that they trust her. Because there's no other way to prove Kikan's innocence.
" It's." Devan hands Kikan's laptop. "The laptop is broken. But I thought you might want it. It might be fixed."
" It's too old to fix" Kikan said, as if losing a laptop wasn't a problem for him. He doesn't want Devan to know that he's having bigger problems. Kikan likes Devan's hospitality, perhaps even appreciating his attitude, but not his compassion. However, Kikan does not know how he can run a business without internet access. There is no public library nearby. And he had no vehicle to travel far.
" Rey was so angry to see this laptop break.he said you made money from making bracelets like this." Devan showed me his wrist. That you should use the internet. And I told him you could stop by my office at any time and use one of my laptops, my office is closer than you have to go to town." Tawar Devan to Kikan.
" Do you have an office?" Kikan doesn't even know anything about Devan's work. When he delivered the bracelet, he just went to the address listed in his mother's phone book and it was already night.
" You believe me? to work in your office alone?" ask Kikan.
" Of course." Devan grimacing. But don't be so grateful to me, there's nothing to steal except the files." Canda Devan's.
" There's a computer," Kikan scoffed. I need one"
Devan laughs. "I know where to look if something's missing."
Kikan became calm. "What a good offer. Thank you." Thank you."
" Everybody needs a pause."
" Do you need a pause too?" ask Kikan.
" I've been through some bleak times. You don't know because you're away." Devan's face looked gloomy as he said that.
Perhaps that's why Devan is able to sympathize with Kikan, and Kikan appreciates it so much. "It is also possible to listen to other people's problems. You wanna come in?"
Devan looked wanted but then shook his head. "I'm not sure Rey would like it" he said.
" He'd rather I didn't hang out with his friends" Kikan said. "And I can't blame him.he doesn't want his ex, especially this notorious one, to join his friends."
Devan put on a serious expression. "I'm not sure if that's all that's why."
" Then what?" ask Kikan.
" You wouldn't believe me if I said it," Devan said with a laugh and walked back to his pick up.
Kikan didn't know what it meant, but whatever Devan meant, he certainly didn't want to explain. "I'll be here tomorrow, around 05:00" Kikan said.
" Then I'll see you."
Kikan watched Devan pass away. He was sure he could sleep in peace now. But his mother saw Kikan before he went back inside. "You're playing with danger" cried his mother from the window.
