My Heart Was Wounded Deep

My Heart Was Wounded Deep
Chapter 44's

Kikan thought he wouldn't drink alcohol tonight. He did not drive, and only carried a bicycle. Kikan didn't want to take any chances. Before walking to the bar table, and ordering his non-alcoholic drink, a large man approached him.

The man offers to buy her a drink but Kikan refuses, unwilling to feel indebted to anyone. So they just chat for a few minutes or try to chat in the middle of the music playing. Then he asked Kikan to dance.

When Kikan tried to resist, the man pulled his hand and dragged him to the dance floor. When the song from Queen, don't stop me now is played. Kikan wanted to hear the lyrics, so he wanted to dance with the man. Otherwise Kikan suspects he will talk about many things. She had missed dancing for seventeen years, had not danced since the school days she attended. But she remembers listening to this song many times when she broke up with Rey.

Kikan quite enjoyed the dance until the second song with his dance partner. After that he received some invitations from other men. He even finished his non-alcoholic drinks while sitting at the bar. Kikan only began to feel happy and free when he realized someone was watching and looking at him from across the room. That's when he saw Rey.

Where'd he come from? apparently, the man had not returned home, as Kikan had expected. He doesn't know why he couldn't have seen Rey before. Kikan guessed because he was so comfortable, which meant there was nothing else he was worried about at the bar, and he stopped looking around. And now the bar is fuller than when it first arrived.

So where are Devan and the others? they're not there. Rey sits down with a man Kikan does not know.

While bending their lips to smile politely when their eyes collide. Kikan nodded to say hello when another man asked her to dance. This time a man was barely drunk, the one he was trying to avoid. But letting the man take her to the dance floor gives her a reason not to talk to Rey. Kikan allowed the drunk stranger to embrace her while dancing to the song.

as they move in an awkward dance Kikan closes his eyes so as not to be tempted to look for Rey, he must let Rey do whatever she likes, and do whatever Kikan likes. But the man who danced with her hugged her too tightly and lowered his hand.

"Stop!" hissing Kikan while forcing the man to let go of the handle when he touched Kikan's butt.

Frustrated with the man, Kikan said "I can't dance with you if you don't stop fumbling." Kikan said he would leave the man on the dance floor but he did not want Rey to think he was in trouble again.

" Come on. Give this poor man a chance" he said.

Before Kikan reacted, Rey appeared and patted the man on the shoulder. "My turn, buddy" said Rey.

"What?" the drunk man had to blink his eyes to see Rey clearly.

"I said it was my turn."

This interruption was like making Kikan's dance partner confused, but Rey acted as if she was right, so the man did not argue. He muttered something about not realizing that Kikan was with someone else, and then left.

Relieved but confused as to why Rey is helping him. He was not in danger, as he was with Logan. Kikan smiled with a grateful smile. "Thank you" he said, and began walking toward the edge of the dance floor.

Rey caught his elbow. "Hey! You want to go where the song's not finished yet"

Kikan felt his eyebrows raise. "What's important?"

"I've come to dance" Rey replied by putting her hands on Kikan's waist.

"It's not a good idea" Kikan said. But he danced with Rey to the music so they didn't attract attention.

"Why not?"

While keeping the sound down, Kikan looked around the place. "We shouldn't be seen together, especially in a place like this."

"It's a bar, everybody's coming here."

"That's it, and this week you hit the guy who attacked me, and it's not a good sight."

"I stopped the oppressor from hitting women. Why is that considered bad?" ask Rey.

" that's....."

" That you care" Kikan said

" Maybe I care" said Rey, followed by a childish grin.

Kikan thought Rey had too much to drink. He was not a reckless drinker like other men, but he could not think clearly.

" How are you after... that fight?" his nose seems to have returned to normal. "I'm curious"

" So you have to go in to see if I'm okay, huh?" said Rey.

Kikan captures the sarcasm in Rey's voice. "Devan says you're okay."

After a few moments of silence Rey said, "Have you heard from him?

" Who?" Logan or Devan?" ask Kikan. Rey wears Cologne, and it's the scent that Kikan likes ....

" logan's. I know you go to Devan's every night."

"Does he mind?" ask Kikan

" Of course not. But we're talking about Logan."

" Logan he doesn't bother me anymore" Kikan said.

"It should be so."

Rey swings too far to one side and Kikan has to catch her. "I hope you're not planning on driving" Kikan said.

"I have friends here. He used to drive drunk guests. But you can give me a ride if you want."

"No problem. Although I think you're a little too heavy for me to pedal" Kikan said.

Rey laughs. "We'll throw your bike into the tub in my pickup. And give you a ride."

"I can go home by myself, thanks."

To make a good impression, Kikan keeps his body upright, instead of fusing with Rey.

"Can you relax?" roy's Mumam.

"We can't get too close" Kikan said. Although it seems that no one is paying attention.

"We're just dancing, Kikan. It's not like we're fucking."

His words made Kikan lose a step. Being in Rey's arms felt so intimate. She wasn't sure if dancing with Rey would feel very different to other men, but it seemed like it was.
