My Heart Was Wounded Deep
Chapter 46's

Kikan waited for Jason worriedly at the cafe where they first met. He looks the best, ready for this meeting. But he hopes Rey doesn't accompany his son. Of course now, when Rey is not drunk, she will realize that they better not spend time together. It would be too easy for them to fall back on a physical relationship. It's easier for Kikan because he never forgets Rey. And it's easier for Rey because she doesn't seem to have a partner in her bed right now.Rey's needs and Kikan's longings can create a one-sided relationship, If Kikan lets this happen.

But it wasn't Jason's Jeep that showed up, it was Rey's pick up. Just like when Kikan was waiting for him here first. They both looked handsome in his eyes.

" Can't I just calm down for a second?" muttered Kikan.

" You said something?" ask the woman next to Kikan.

Kikan. "No, sorry"

The waiter greeted the newly arrived guests in a friendly manner. Kikan prepares to see Rey and Jason enter, but he is nervous about meeting Rey. He wants to act like nothing happened last night. And maybe it won't be difficult. Rey couldn't have enjoyed dancing with her as she had seen last night, not enjoying it more than dancing with other women.

"Good morning" Kikan greeted Jason as they passed the door.

Jason hugged her and Rey was almost about to do the same. It's a standard hug greeting, nothing more. But Kikan pretended not to know Rey's intentions, and retreated before the man touched her. Rey really had to be careful to approach Kikan. Especially in a public place, or she'll know what it's like to be an outcast.

"Thank you for coming" said Kikan.

Rey wears sunglasses. He straightened up, when Kikan dodged, but said nothing.

"Mom looks beautiful" said Jason.

Kikan squeezed Jason's arm, "Thank you. My stitches are removed, and that's good."

"Mom's back to see the doctor?" ask Jason.

"No. I took it off myself. I don't need a doctor for that." Kikan pulled his hair back so Jason could see the red line there, the scar.

"Mom must be the most powerful woman in the world" Jason said with a laugh.

"It's not hard" Kikan said. "I feel a little interested."

Rey did not comment but she took off her glasses when the reception came and when Kikan saw her eyes, he guessed Rey was still a little drunk. "Breakfast for three?" ask the woman.

Rey answered before Kikan. "Yes, and we're asking for a room if you can provide it."

"No problem. There's a newly completed entourage." The receptionist, looking around the restaurant. Found the waiter cleaning the table in the corner he was referring to, and picked up three menus. "We can go there now."

"You're happy to welcome Tuesday's game?" ask Jason when they're sitting down.

Jason was sitting across from Kikan, Rey was sitting next to Jason.

"Very," replied Jason. "Will Mom come?"

Kikan smile. "of course. I won't miss it."

Rey dropped off the menu, which she had opened. "How did you get there? That place is too far by bike."

Rey looked weird this morning, not the guy with charm who danced with her last night. Maybe Rey was sorry for what she said, afraid that Kikan would take her too seriously. "I'll rent a car."

"You'd rather spend money than ride in my car?"

"Don't prefer to spend money, just...."

Kikan glanced at Jason who was observing his mother expectantly, before looking at Rey. "I don't want to depend on you. And I'd better not let your parents down on you again."

"No need to rent a car" insisted Rey. "My parents won't even be there."

"They can easily hear that we're going together." What will Kikan and Rey do when they get to the venue? Sit opposite? It would look not funny, having come together in one car. And Kikan can't sit with Rey, or everyone from their town who comes will wonder if they're back together.

"They'll be quiet" Rey said, shrugging her shoulders.

The waiter came to bring water. "Hallo Rey, Jas." His gaze moved to Kikan and, realizing they didn't know each other, the waiter greeted "Good morning."

The waiter pulled out a notebook. "It's ready to order."

"We haven't seen the menu yet" Rey said. "Can you hold on a second?"

"Of course." The waiter gave a flirtatious smile to Rey before passing away.

"Well, see that?" jason said as he elbowed his father.

"I saw," said Kikan. "Looks like the waiter found your father very attractive."

"They're only twenty-two years old." Rey grumbling. "It's closer to Jason's age than I am."

"But she's beautiful" said Kikan. "And age doesn't matter."

Rey frowned. "Thank you for telling me," he said in a satirical tone, and once again picked up the menu.

If Rey wants a physical relationship, she can do it without involving Kikan. Despite his insinuations, Kikan did not feel any danger by positing it. Maybe it will give Rey a way out until they can adapt to living in the same city. "I'm sure he's not your only fan."

"I know who I can take with me and who I can't" Rey said.

Kikan had been waiting for this breakfast so eagerly that he did not want Rey's bad mood to mess with his feelings. So, taking a deep breath, Kikan ignored the black shadow Rey made for their morning.

"This week has been good, there have been a lot of buyers, so order as you like" Kikan said as he tried to lure them with his enthusiasm. "I can even order strawberry waffles."

"Mom should order that. It was delicious" Jason said and asked for permission to step out of the room for a while.

"Where are you going? " ask Kikan.

"To the restroom. If the waiter comes when I'm not back, please order a waffle for me, okay?"

"Today I'm the deal" Rey said as Jason left.

"No." Kikan insists. "You're here because of my invitation."

"You took Jason, not me" Rey said.

"I told you you could go to whatever show Jason and I went to." Kikan took the bag and took out an envelope thrusting it towards Rey. "And you'd be happy to see that I'm paying more attention to Jason this week."

Rey looked at the envelope, and shifted it again towards Kikan. "I appreciate it, and I think it's quite a lot, Kikan."

"I know," Kikan's face sparkled at Rey, it felt so good to be able to play a part in such an important matter. "I have to pay my debt when I go to the doctor first. But the rest is for Jason. It's not cheap to pay for a kid who loves sports."

"I don't want your money" Rey said. "You don't even have a phone, or a vehicle to travel to."

Kikan straightened up, shocked by the innuendo in Rey's voice. "I have a child. That's my top priority."

"But your son is not lacking. Just grow your business, okay?" Rey pushed the envelope closer towards Kikan. "Jason and I are fine."

"I doubt the money is enough to buy a vehicle." Kikan said as he extended the money to Rey again.

"The money was able to buy a cell phone" Rey insisted on refusing.

Kikan folds his hands in his lap. "I can live without a cell phone for a longer time. Jason and I communicate quite often through Facebook."

"Have you ever thought that Logan could come to your trailer, and you might need to call for help? Or that I can check every once in a while to make sure you're okay?"

"Buying the phone is already in my plans. I still have other things to do now."

"That's what I mean." Rey.

"I thought you'd be happy if I fulfilled my obligations to you and Jason first." Kikan took the water. "Or is it because you're so stoned that you're making a little? I don't take seriously what you said or did last night, if that's what you're worried about" Kikan said.
