The journey only took a few minutes, but it felt like it never ended. When Rey finally finds it, the jeep Jason drives, is parked away from the road. As if he had stopped anywhere he could. Next to the car Rey saw Jason and Tristan leaning over someone's body, which must have been Kikan. Even though they were blocking his view.
"What's going on? " Task Rey as soon as she sees Jason.
"Mom fell into the ditch, apparently hit his head on a rock, but he wouldn't let me call for help. Tristan said I should have called an ambulance. I want to but Mom doesn't even like Tristan mentioning that. Now, Mommasih is trying to get up"
"Where's Logan now?"
"It's gone, he ran away after doing that."
" Mom was injured but he said it wasn't bad, the wound on his head was bleeding a lot. I'm glad you came I don't know what to do."
Rey didn't say anything, she had to look at the wound.
"I'm fine." Kikan shook his hands at the sight. I told Jason not to bother you" I was just a little scuffed and bruised, and embarrassed for causing a commotion."
His head was hit. There was blood flowing on the side of his face. Jason held him back as Kikan tried to stand up, Rey got the impression his son had done that since.
What do you think, pa? shouldn't we take him to the hospital?
"no need. " Say Kikan
Rey ducked down next to Kikan and examined the wound above his temple. He was not a paramedic and was not sure how deep Kikan's wound was or if it needed to be sewn up. There was even a chance Kikan had a concussion, but the woman seemed fully conscious, and that was a good sign.
" What's going on?" ask Rey to Kikan
" i told you..." Jason started talking, but Rey cut him off.
" I want him to tell me." Rey wants to hear Kikan's point of view, but she also thinks this could be a great way to tell if Kikan can think as clearly as he can see."
"Logan's." Said. "He tried to force Jason off track and quit, and I'm afraid I'm afraid he'll cause an accident. So I got out, but when it turned green, gave Logan a chance to drive the car and hit me and me... I fell in a bad position and it seemed like my head was hit. "
"Then he ran away?"
Kikan nodded, smiling weakly. "I'm sorry, I don't intend to harm Jason. We just got in the car."
"It's not your fault" Rey said stiffly, so angry at Logan that she could barely speak. Rey can understand Logan's loss. It is not unsympathetic, but Logan has no right to bring the past into the present. Act like a judge, and executioner at once. Kikan has gone through the correct legal process and is serving his full sentence.
"Actually this" Kikan insisted, gnawing in tears. "I knew he had bad intentions, he sent me some letters, so I didn't know at all. But I never imagined he'd do anything that threatened Jason or anyone else. Honestly, it never crossed my mind. "
" I'd like you to see a doctor before, even if you don't have to go to the hospital."
Kikan touched his face, when he felt more blood than he thought. He rubbed his hands against the grass and the ground so as not to stain his new clothes. "I'd rather just go home" he said. "I can handle it."
Kikan was about to stand up, and Rey tried to help him. But the woman retreated when Rey grabbed her arm and nearly fell backwards. "You'll get blood" said Kikan, using a jeep, to prop up his body. "Take Jason and Tristan home. I kept telling them to leave immediately if Logan came back, but they wouldn't listen to me because they thought I was really hurt."
Kikan was hurt. And he wasn't even too strong to stand. She tries to cover up her unsteadiness by leaning against the jeep, but Rey knows how shaky her body is.
" And what will you do if he comes back.? Ask Rey.
"I'll hide and then go home."
"With walking."
Kikan wiped the blood that started to flow into his eyes and looked around, as if he was unsure of where he was or which direction he should take. "I'm not in a hurry. You know the slow way."
"Omong is empty" Rey said, turning to Jason. "Are you okay to drive?"
Jason nodded.
"Antar Tristan and then go home. I'll take care of your mother."
"I can't believe Logan did this" Jason murmured.
"I'm sure he acted without thinking." Said Rey. But he plans to make sure Logan thinks about the consequences of this.
Kikan staggers away from the jeep so the boys can leave, but he doesn't let Rey help him. Every time Rey tried, Kikan raised his hand and said. "It's okay. I'm fine."
Jason hesitated, still upset by Logan's actions. "Do I have to stay with Mom?"
"No. I can handle this" Rey and Jason said reluctantly turning the driver's side.
Kikan waved to calm his son. Rey must admit the woman's persistence. She was tougher than any woman she knew. It was impressive how determined Kikan was by not willing to lean on him literally or figuratively.
As soon as the kids leave, Rey catches Kikan's elbow, holds it despite Kikan trying to avoid that contact, and guides her up to his pickup. "Let's find a doctor for you."
