" What did he say?" ask Rey.

Eva who went to the kitchen turned her head when she poured herself a glass of water. "Him?"

Rey frowned. "Don't pretend you know who I'm talking about."

" Kikan's? He said you and Cindy would make a good couple."

Rey took the canned drink and threw the bottle in the trash. "I can't believe they're both here. It was really awkward."

" Rey, if you manage to win my heart, being with him wouldn't be easy. She was very alert and frightened" Eva said.

" Maybe he was acting like that, but I can't believe he killed Lori. I feel stupid for ever believing otherwise."

Eva leaned herself against the table. "Of all the news I've heard, there aren't many questions about it."

" There are a lot of questions about that. And Kikan didn't do it." Rey believes that, she feels the doubts she has faced so far have led her to the truth and hopes she will listen to her own intuition, seventeen years ago.

" Yes, he looks good" said Eva. "Truly good." sounded a sincere tone in his voice.

" But you don't think I should have dated her."

" I don't know him well enough to make judgments. Even so, I'd much rather be with her than Cindy." Eva flipped over to look at the already dark living room.

" By the way...Where is your date?"

Rey lowered her voice. "She fainted."

" But he's okay, right?" ask Eva.

" Yes, he's fine. Just drunk. And I'm grateful to be free."

" He was indeed. somewhat obscene." Said Eva.

" It's too absurd. He tried to pull me to bed a few times."

" How did you refuse him?"

" I kept taking her to the party."

" Good god."

" Let's hope he's gone tomorrow morning. It might be rude, but I intend to ask him to leave" Rey said.

Eva leaned against one hand. "Didn't he come with samantha?"

" Devan can take Samantha later if she wants the woman to stay,"

" I doubt Devan would mind if Samantha came home" Eva said. "From what I've seen Devan avoid it as much as possible."

Rey approached the refrigerator to look for the fruit that Kikan had put there. "Tell him that he doesn't know the woman enough to spend the weekend with her."

Eva tapped on the kitchen table slowly, "It's a shame they don't fit. Losing Olivia seems pretty heavy for her. And with Olivia here with Brandon...."

" Samantha's not the one who can help Devan forget Olivia," Rey said, inserting a few grains of wine into her mouth.

Eva sighs. "I agree, so where is Samantha now?"

"Go sleep. I saw him a while ago, and he's apologizing for his friend's behavior."

"That's a good attitude, at least" Eva said.

"As soon as Simon slept, he completely gave up. I thought if I couldn't tempt Simon, he'd snatch anyone, including his circle of friends."

"You also noticed it" Rey said.

Eva shrugged her shoulders. "I can't say that I'm impressed by him."

Rey remembers how quickly Kikan disappeared once Cindy walked into the bedroom. "So you think. I didn't have a chance with Kikan?"

"Everything she's ever suffered has changed her I'm worried about that." Said Eva.

"me too. But.... " Rey frowned when she saw his fist. "His suffering changed him better. No one can prevent me from wanting him."

"Then don't fight your feelings, go ahead" Eva said, trying to be open-minded.

"I want to, but you might understand why she might be reluctant."

"of course. I also understand that people like David, who have trust issues, can sometimes recover if they get enough love and encouragement."

" While I'm the person she trusts the least." Said Rey.

" I didn't say that. You're his son's father, you're good and healthy emotionally as well as physically. And he cares about you. Who could give him what he needed?"

Rey smiled at him.

" Do you like hearing that?" ask Eva.

" Yes." Rey confessed

Because Devan was watching a movie with some other friends, Rey was alone using their room downstairs. But he didn't stay there long. I felt uncomfortable in that little bed. And there was so much he thought. He couldn't stop thinking about Kikan's photo book, couldn't stop thinking about how concerned she was. He felt bad because he realized Kikan had gathered the courage to go all the way to this place, even renting a car and driver to drive, only to receive a very disappointing surprise.

Rey wants to be with Kikan for a moment, four eyes, so she can thank him for the gift he brought. He also wants to make it clear to Kikan that he is not sleeping with Cindy. As they sat around the campfire, He left just because Cindy kept on paddling him. Otherwise, Rey would not have left Kikan, never would, when the woman felt she was in an undue place.

" Where are you going?" Devan turned his head from the TV screen as Rey walked past him.

" Take a drink." Rey said.

Devan knows for sure that's not true, as he gets up from the sofa and hands something into Rey's hands. Rey can't see what it is because the room is dark, but the soft texture is quite familiar Rey as a protector.

" If you don't bring it," whispered Devan.

" I didn't prepare it" Rey replied. "But I don't need this at all. I just wanted to talk to him, there's no way he'd let me touch him one bit."

" But carrying it will not harm anyone either" Devan murmured, then returned to watch the film.

The water is so cold. Kikan knew he should not swim in the lake, not alone and not at midnight. She was not even wearing proper clothes, Kikan was forced to wear a bra and***********, just because she did not have a swimsuit. Kikan found a small balcony and steps in front of his room near the garage, with a small walkway leading to the lake. After all, he had to do something to control the thoughts and desires that attacked him from all directions.

After seventeen years, she has accepted that Rey never loved her. Kikan comes home with a life-building plan that doesn't involve the man, except in the role he always played as Jason's father. And now Rey wants him back?

Thats impossible. Even if it's true, they don't stand a chance. Not in the world they were familiar with, the world outside of this extremely beautiful cottage.

The problem is, Kikan's body doesn't seem to receive the message. He can't stop thinking about Rey, can't stop craving her touch. Tonight it feels like some kind of dance in the mating season.
