Chapter 27's

While driving his car home, Rey bluntly berated himself as everything Kikan said continued to ring in his mind. Kikan's words would not have affected him so deeply had the woman accused him or been angry. Maybe that way, Rey just needs to defend herself. But Kikan feels responsible for everything, as long as they were together. Though Rey says that she loves him and takes away his virginity. Of course Kikan would assume he could trust Rey's words. Because Kikan was so sincere with her all along.

It's easy to understand why Kikan felt like he was being hit suddenly when Rey cut off their relationship. But honestly Rey didn't mean to put Kikan in that situation. Kikan had no idea how much pressure Rey had to face from her parents, from everyone, including her teachers, to keep her away from Kikan. "Nobody wants him to hang out with Lis's mom's kid." Rey's mother wants Rey to date her best friend Lori. Rey was never interested in Lori. Kikan means as much to Rey as he used to tell the girl.

Maybe that's why he felt tormented when Kikan ignored what Rey had said and done. Connecting his deeds with meaningless love, no wonder Kikan thought so. Rey had disappointed him, even though he was not old enough to know how to be assertive.

Rey wasn't even sure that she had to be assertive, she didn't want to lose her parents' affection, they were her guide and her place to lean on. And of course he doesn't want to mess up his future, so Rey unknowingly messes with Kikan's future.

Every now and then, Rey thinks late at night about how she should treat Kikan, but the longer she gets to know Kikan as an adult, the easier it will be for Rey to believe Kikan's explanation for the tragic incident.

After parking the car in the driveway, and not in the garage, because it was planned to go again, Rey walked into the house she built a few years ago, to put on a clean T-shirt and check on Jason.

"Is mom okay?" Jason asked, he immediately rushed out of the room as soon as he heard the door open.

"He'll be cured soon." Rey hopes. Doctors have indicated that Kikan will recover. But it seems impossible to leave it there alone, the trailer is not AC and Kikan does not have a phone. How to ask for help if you need something.

There's a chance she can't get out of bed, so Rey plans to go back and check on her. It's impossible for Rey to rely on Lis's mother to take care of anything or anyone. If it doesn't come back, Rey isn't sure Kikan will even get dinner, and that worries her. Especially Kikan should eat before taking more painkillers given by the doctor.

Jason stepped aside so Rey could pass him on the stairs. Then followed him to the room. "Did papa take him to the doctor?"

"Yes." Yeah." Rey took a T-shirt from one of the drawers and put it on through her head. "The doctor cleaned the wound and sewed it up."

"He needs to be stitched? How many?"

"Five. The wound is quite large but not as severe as it looks. A wound on the head always spits out a lot of blood, as he says."

Jason breaks himself into bed while Rey walks into the bathroom to wash her hands and face. "It all freaked me out" Jason said loud enough for Rey to hear him overcome the sound of running water. "When I saw Logan speeding behind me with his jeep, I first thought he was just messing with me. But then I saw his face, and I realized we were in trouble."

The fear his son must have felt when it made Rey angry again. Jason's been able to drive a car for months now.

"Can papa believe Logan would act like that?" Ask Jason.

Of course not. Rey knows Logan doesn't like Kikan coming back to City, but this is completely ridiculous. "I'm going to the police station to report Logan's actions, how about you come with me, in order to explain exactly what happened? "

"Will you report him?"

"really. Logan has no right to do that."

Jason looked reluctant. "But papa doesn't even like mom."

"I never said that."

"Papa was not happy when mom returned to this city. And don't want to see him at breakfast."

"I wasn't sure what he was like now, that's all. "

"Let's just take the risk to believe what he said. As long as he doesn't break my trust, it doesn't matter to me he's here."

"But if papa defends mom, we'll be dealing with Logan, and it'll be a mess. Oma is very fond of the family, and is also friendly with both of Logan's parents. And that means we meet Logan once in a while."

"Sometimes you have to do what you think is right, no matter the bad consequences."

Jason did not comment, so Rey thought Jason was gone. "Jason?"

"I'm here."

"Don't you think that's true?"

"Yes, I think it's true."

When Rey returned to the room, Jason was still in bed. "Wear shoes. We have to go now."

His son got up, but did not immediately head for the door. He came over and hugged Rey. It was a short hug from a man. But it feels valuable because it is so unexpected.

"Thanks Pa."

When Rey returns to Kikan's trailer, everything seems calm. Rey doesn't want Kikan to get out of bed and across the hall to answer when he's sleeping. Therefore knock on the door slowly. When no one shows up, Rey tries to open the door, locked. Rey thinks she must somehow wake Kikan up... Until then he realized the door was not really related. The door can be opened without any problems.

Once inside, the trailer feels hot, but not too hot to endanger its occupants.

After putting the soup he bought at the kitchen table, along with Kikan's backpack and wallet were left in Jason's jeep. Rey heads for the hallway, trying to knock slowly to tell Kikan her arrival. He didn't want to scare Kikan.

"Kicans? It's me Rey."

There's still no answer. But the bedroom door opened slightly, Rey peeked into Kikan already having a bath, but that was it. He fell onto the bed with a towel wrapped around his head. And just put on a bathrobe under the blanket that covers her body. Rey was stunned, Kikan was indeed beautiful even when she looked messy.

"Kikans?" There's no answer

Rey approached Kikan, touching his hand. "Hey Kikan. You okay?"

Kikan muttered he was fine and rolled over the body, releasing his hand. The blanket was drawn down as he moved, making his robe slightly open displaying his white shoulders. Rey saw a scar with a strange shape, as well as a new scar from falling into the trench earlier.

Look away before you see more open body parts. Rey cursed quietly. Kikan looked so small and weak lying in his place. Logan is so barbaric because it has made the situation worse.
