Eva said, "There was so much that David experienced before he got to this point. His childhood was chaotic, leaving him lost on the wrong path. But he's left everything."

Does that mean David deserves to be sent to prison? Kikan liked the man so much that it did not change his judgment, but he wondered what David had done. It can't be as bad as people accuse Kikan. "He didn't have to tell me he had a similar experience. I know he did it to help me feel good, and I appreciate it." Kikan said.

" Some bad experiences will make you more sensitive to the needs of others."

Kikan doesn't want to talk about bad experiences. He had too many bad experiences that no one else could compare to here. Except David... Kikan made a gesture towards the cottage. "This place is so beautiful."

" Simon and his wife are very generous to invite us to enjoy their home" said Eva.

" Right."

" Did anyone show you where you sleep?"

" Already, Kelly about an hour ago drove me to the room I was going to occupy." Instead of letting Kikan take over Rey and Devan's room, Simon brings Kikan's suitcase and shows him the tiny room in the babysitter's section of the house.

" You're downstairs then?" ask Eva.

" Over the garage." Say Kikan

" What's comfortable there?"

Kikan laughs. "Of course." Of course Eva knew sleeping in the smallest room in the house like this was still more luxurious than any place Kikan had slept in.

" Thank God." Eva squeezes Kikan's hand. "I sympathize with you for having to go through this kind of hardship when you don't know too many people yet."

" It's okay" he replied. "They're so friendly, Rey's lucky to have close friends like you."

Eva observes Kikan. "She seems to think about you a lot."

Kikan wasn't sure how to answer. "We tried our best to support Jason, it would be easier for everyone if we could be friends."

Eva shakes her head. "Is that what happened between you? just good friends for Jason?"

Suddenly sultry, though moments before it was cold, Kikan moved the chair from the campfire. "Yes, I guess. I didn't mean to ruin the party. I didn't know this party was shown to the couple when I got here."

" Rey knew this was for the couple when she invited," Eva said with a smile.

Kikan didn't let himself think about it. It makes no sense Rey wants them together in public. However, Kikan is only back in Rey's life, and arguably appeals to her. And Rey feels safe doing what she likes. Their small town was never a hard and unforgiving place for Rey. For Kikan it was just the opposite. "He's just trying to be nice because I don't get out much." Say Kikan.

" You think he invited you out of pity?"

Chuckling, Eva stood up. "I know Rey enough that I can tell you that's not why she's spent most of the night watching you while trying to keep Cindy from holding it."

Kikan does not want to admit the jealousy he feels on Rey's dating partner. "Cindy just kind of drinks a lot. But she's beautiful, and it seems she's interested in Rey. They could be a good couple."

Eva grimacing. "Are you serious?"

" What?"

" Have you ever talked to that woman?" ask Eva.

" Not really, but it doesn't matter what I think.it's up to Rey."

" I can understand why you say that. But I think it's clear who Rey wants.

" Not me" Kikan insisted.

" You'll refuse if he offers to be with you?"

" No offer."

" We can all see it, except you. Anyway, I'm glad he's not interested in Cindy."

Despite Eva's gesture, Kikan can't imagine Rey's friends would prefer that the man end up with someone who served seventeen years in prison for murder, and still can't prove themselves innocent. Then why if Eva is dating a man who has also been in prison? The man had no history, or enemies in their city. That means he can borrow Eva's reputation, starting his life on a near new page.

Kikan wanted to say that, but Eva had already left him. It seems that woman is walking towards the house. While Kikan watches Eva enter the house. He saw Rey approaching the glass doors and gazing out at her. Cindy must have slept because she wasn't seen with him.

As Rey walks out, Kikan gets the impression the man is planning to come to her. But he felt too desperate to maintain self-defense. So when one of Rey's friends intercepts the man, Kikan rushes around the campfire in a different direction and sneaks into the house.

Kikan is on the run from Rey, and he knows Rey thinks so. But he didn't want to make the situation worse by letting their feelings take over. He was afraid that if they were together for a long time, they would end up in bed.

It was enough for tonight, and he had to save energy to face a new battle tomorrow.

In bright light, perhaps Rey's charm will not be too difficult to resist.
