Rey's mood improved as she pushed Jason's shoulder slightly. "Last week he barely gave the opponent a chance to score."
Jason raised an eyebrow. "nearly, but it didn't really work."
"The season is still long" Rey said.
Kikan was happy to hear the pride in Rey's voice. He felt the same pride. But right now, continuing this conversation was his main task. Because for some reason, other than a few close friends he knew while in prison, Kikan didn't say much. He doesn't think he's good at pleasing people. Another reason, he just wanted to sit and look, remembering all the details of his son's face. The photos sent to him were not many and could not describe Jason exactly. In the last photo, Jason wears braces, a photo that Kikan received with a new Happy New Year card from Rey, one year ago. Although Rey did not do it with pleasure, Kikan still thanked him for being willing to send photos and also the card. Both of them are items that are brought home from prison, which is a very small amount.
"Are you planning on playing basketball in college?" Ask her.
"of course" Jason said. "There are a few universities that are interested in me. I wish I had a scholarship."
There is so much Jason can achieve, so much to be proud of. Kikan owes Rey that. "That's great!" said. "I'm sure you can get it."
The waiter came to take note of their additional orders, quickly calculating what amount they would have to pay later, after they asked for additional orange juice and a few snacks. He does not want to embarrass himself if later the money is not enough.
" is that all you ordered?" Ask Jason.
"I can't eat much at breakfast." Despite being hungry, Kikan was too nervous to eat.
"No wonder your body is so small. Most girls in my school are bigger, the teenager said. And they're still gonna grow taller."
"I heard so, you got into a fight a few times when....
" Come don't talk about it." When Rey interjected, Jason blushed and fell silent.
It's okay, he can say whatever he wants" Kikan said to Rey before answering Jason. "I'm forced to defend myself, but I can survive." sometimes better than other inmates.
"What's going on?" Ask Jason
Although Kikan was a little reluctant to explain, but he tried to give an understanding of this topic that should have been avoided. "Women in prison can..... Acting power-mad" he replied. "There are times when I have to fight back, or I will continue to be treated unfairly during my stay, you know? Maybe you've seen that kind of behavior in school." The fact that Kikan fights to save his own life, there's no way he's revealing it to his son. That would sound terrible.
Jason egregious forehead, looks doubtful in doubt and observes Kikan for a moment. " Is that why I got that scar?"
Kikan automatically held his forehead, he obtained the scar, just before being released. Twelve stitches, the marks appeared later. "true."
"Because of boxing?" Ask Jason again.
"No, a small stone." Kikan is agitated in the chair, aware that Rey does not like him painting scenes that are too dangerous and terrible. But he wanted to satisfy Jason's curiosity. Don't want Jason to feel like Kikan is ignoring his question.
Jason looked concerned, "It must be sick"
