My Heart Was Wounded Deep
Chapter 9's

Jason stared silently at his mother, "But why are his words more believable than yours?"

Hearing this, Kikan could not help but look at Rey, the man looked at her as seriously as Jason and seemed to be thinking, whether Kikan who can now be trusted more than before. Kikan decided to reveal the truth, no matter how later he had to bear the shame of the confession.

"Because they knew how crazy I was about your father, they called it obsession, and maybe it was obsession. They at that time finally knew I was pregnant." sighing, Kikan said. "I didn't tell anyone that I was pregnant with you before the accident, I was too afraid that my mother, the principal or anyone including your father would have told me to abort, or give up on someone else for adoption. I don't want to do both. "

" They think you're jealous of Lori? "

" They said that I thought your father would come back to me, if Lori wasn't around anymore"

Kikan thought Jason had heard the rumor before, because the whole story pivoted there. During this time Kikan asked, what people said about him to Jason. Or maybe even Rey's parents who gave the information, even Rey may have given the wrong information to her son.

"that's not fair!" Jason turned as if he wanted to get support from his father, but Rey was silent, his hands hidden in the front pocket of his jeans.

"If your words are true, Mom, then you've been punished for no reason" Jason said as he stared at Kikan. "Why not try harder for people to trust you?"

Because Kikan is just a strange and ill-fated eighteen-year-old girl, who struggles growing up with a mother who has a tendency to keep all kinds of things. Without defenders, without money to pay competent lawyers, and not half-hearted public lawyers. Kikan has no one else, who can be asked for help. What makes matters even more complicated is the fact that she bullies Rey and Lori with a dark phone, shortly after Rey and the girl start dating. The unthinkable became a damning part of his case at the trial.

Everything that could make Kikan fall, had already dropped him.

"I have no means" answered Kikan. "I'm only two years older than you when it all happens, and completely alone." There's not much he can do, especially since Kikan can't say that he's not obsessed with Rey.

Although her life has been very heavy, Kikan never felt deep sadness, such as when her relationship and Rey ran aground.

But he didn't kill anyone.

"That girl is lying" Jason said. "Does mom know where she is now? Did mom try to find him, and force him to admit what really happened? "

Kikan has been trying to get in touch, and has spent a dozen years thinking about getting out of prison to find Via Astaria. He is eager to restore his good name. But he knew such efforts were in vain. Although he managed to find Via, he would come back face to face with Via words that people trusted more. No one wants to consider the possibility that an innocent woman has been thrown in jail, for a very long time. Even if Via appeared suddenly and miraculously came alone and confessed, it would not change what Kikan had experienced. It is also impossible to convince people who from the beginning they did not want to believe.

"No." answered Kikan. "I've decided to focus on moving on, and forgetting the past"

Jason looked down at his feet. When he raised his head and spoke again, his voice sounded doubtful. "I don't know which one to trust."

"It's okay," Kikan could forgive him easily, grateful that his son had really tried. "I understand how heavy it is. We don't have to talk about that anymore, if you don't want to... We're.."

"I think that's enough for today." Rey interrupted. "Jason and I should leave immediately"

Anxiety sweat ran down Kikan's back, but Kikan smiled so Jason wouldn't feel burdened leaving him. He certainly couldn't hold Jason back any longer and had trouble with his father. Kikan will try to earn Jason's trust as time goes on.
