Fiona grabs the phone that keeps ringing on the nightstand for disturbing her sleep. "Are you asleep?" Steven's voice was on the phone there.
"Hhhmmm," murmured Fiona. He seems half conscious.
"Fio, are you still sleeping?" Steven again asked because he only heard an unclear muttering sound from Fiona.
"Hhhhhhhhhh."
There was a sound of rough breathing from the phone. "Fiona, I'm in front of your apartment." At once Fiona kept the phone away from her ear and stared at the screen with half-opened eyes when she heard a heavy voice on the phone.
Fiona flinched and instantly widened her pupils when she found out that the one who called her was Steven, her lover.
Hurriedly, he got out of bed and walked out of the room to the door. "Steve I'm sorry, I didn't know that you called." Fiona felt bad for making Steven wait in front of her apartment.
Steven stood up while looking at Fiona with an illegible look. A few seconds later, she opened the jacket and put it on Fiona. "Come in." Steven precedes him after Fiona's body is wrapped by his jacket.
Fiona lowered her head and immediately realized that she had not had time to wear outerwear and only wore a tanktop and super shorts. He no longer had time to see her appearance due to surprise at Steven's sudden arrival.
Fiona seemed to be cursing her stupidity while walking after Steven who was already sitting in the middle room.
Fiona was standing not far from Steven. "Sorry Steve, I was in a hurry earlier," Fiona said as she fixed the jacket on her body when she saw Steven's flat gaze.
"Sleep back when you're sleepy." Steven glanced at Fiona when he saw her glare.
Fiona did have time to see the clock on her phone which showed at 3 am. Fiona actually asked in her heart why Steven came to her apartment so early.
"But how are you?"
"I'll sleep on the couch." Steven began to tidy up the rectangular pillow that was next to him. "I couldn't sleep in a hotel all night, so I'm here." Steven explained before Fiona asked.
Steven used to sleep only a few hours because of insomnia, but since living with Fiona. He could sleep comfortably and no longer had trouble sleeping.
"Wait here." Fiona walked towards her room and came back after a while with a pillow and a thick blanket for Steven.
"Wear this." Steven nodded then received the pillow and blanket proffered by Fiona.
"Sleep, it's still morning." Steven put his phone on the table and laid out his pillow.
"Steve, why don't you just walk in, can't you open this door with your fingerprints?"
Steven turned to Fiona after he finished arranging his pillows and blankets. "Now this is your apartment, I can no longer just enter here especially at this hour. I'm afraid you'll be surprised to see me suddenly here" Steven explained, "And I'm afraid to see what I shouldn't see" Steven said, glancing at Fiona.
Fiona immediately sat on the single sofa when she knew the meaning of Steven's words. "Sorry Steve, I'm freaking out because you're already in front so I run straight ahead without seeing my clothes."
What Fiona had in mind when she found out Steven was in front of her apartment was that maybe something happened to her.
"Next time you can go straight in Steve. Thankfully, my phone sounded. Usually, I turn off the tone if I want to sleep," continued Fiona again.
Fiona's habit before going to bed is to make her phone in silent mode because she does not want her sleep disturbed by the loud sound of the phone. Last night he forgot to set it up because he was waiting for a message from Steven until he finally fell asleep.
"Aren't you afraid of me if I go in quietly?"
Fiona smiled sweetly. "I believe you, Steve."
Steven looked at Fiona's eyes alternately for a few seconds then sighed. "Sleep, Fio. It's still dark."
*******
"Steve, you don't have to take me to the office. You'll be late if you take me first" Fiona said, as she offset Steven's steps toward the exit in the lobby.
Steven kept going regardless of Fiona's refusal. "I just want to see how my future wife works."
"You want to get into my office?" fiona asked with round eyes.
Steven halted his steps before reaching the loby door. "Today is a shareholders meeting. This time, I won't send any more representatives because I'll be attending the meeting myself."
"But why do you suddenly want to take that meeting?"
"Why? Are you bothered by my arrival? Or is there another reason you don't want me to come to your office?" asked Steven with a probing look.
Fiona flanked Steven's arm with a smile. "No, I'm just wondering, don't think anything" Fiona said, directing Steven to walk out.
Steven just found out that Reynald also owns a stake in the company Fiona works for. Knowing that, making Steven riled, he did not want Fiona often met with Reynald.
Actually, Fiona's company was officially taken over by Steven a few days ago. And, of course Fiona, Cindy and Reynald already know that.
The reason Steven took over Fiona's company was because he wanted to save the company because more and more days, the company continues to lose money and is in danger of bankruptcy.
"When you're there, you can't look at another woman, just look at me."
The corner of Steven's mouth curved into a smile. "Do I need to announce to everyone so they know you're my future wife."
"Don't Steve, I don't want anyone else to know before your mother approves of us."
"All right, it's up to you." As Steven and Fiona are about to get into the car, Steven accidentally catches a familiar figure heading for the parking lot.
"Steve, why don't you come in?" asked Fiona who was already in the car when she saw Steven looking pensive.
Steven turned his eyes to Fiona while shaking his head and entered his car.
It took 1 hour to arrive at Fiona's office. "Steve, I'll go to my room first, we'll meet in the meeting room later" Fiona said as they were already in the elevator.
"Yes." Yeah." In the elevator there are only Fiona, Steven and Erick.
The elevator doors opened and Fiona stepped out after Fiona said goodbye to Steven. "Rick, I saw Reynald in Fiona's apartment earlier, investigate what he was doing there."
"Good, Sir."
"Begging Doni to drive Fiona to her house this afternoon and don't let Doni leave Fiona there alone. He must keep an eye on Fiona from afar. I'm sure her mother must have planned something for Fiona. I don't want to be helped this time."
"Do we have to ask Jorsh to take care of Miss Fiona?" moonson Erick.
"No need, it would be very striking that Jorsh was accompanying Fiona. Let Doni alone, have him bring 2 bodyguards to follow them quietly from behind."
"Good, Sir."
