The Mystery of Gwen's Death

Upon Steven's arrival at his home, he immediately searches for his mother throughout the mansion. He just came back from abroad. His appearance is not as usual.

Face wrinkled, eyes sunken and hair not neatly combed. Anyone who saw it would surely wonder what really happened so as to make his appearance a mess.

"Ma, I want to talk to you." Steven opened his mother's room without knocking first.

Steven's mother, who was sitting on the sofa in her room, immediately turned her eyes to Steven with her eyebrows intertwined. "What's wrong with you?"

"Ma, we're talking in my study." Steven did not respond to his mother's question but immediately went to work after he finished speaking.

Looking at Steven's hardened face, his mother suspected something big must have happened. "What's wrong?" Steven's mother asked Steven after he walked into Steven's study without shutting the door.

Steven, who was standing on his back to his mother, turned to his mother. "Why did Mama lie to me about Gwen? Why did you lie to me so much?"

"Whatchu mean? Mama doesn't understand." Steven's mother's heart was pounding as Steven brought back Gwen's name.

Steven leaned over a little while resting his hands on the table and looked at his mother fiercely. "Gwen, don't betray me. He never left me for another man. Why did mom fool me? Someone killed him, didn't they?"

Steven and Gwen were in high school until they graduated from college. They studied at the same college abroad. After graduating from college Gwen returned home, while Steven was still living abroad to continue his studies.

They separated because they could not live LDR, mutual suspicion made their relationship can not be continued, let alone Steven's excessive jealousy made them often quarrel.

After his graduation, Steven took over his father's company abroad. A few years later, Steven proposed to Gwen and said that she would marry Gwen another year after she had finished all her affairs abroad and returned home.

They are back in a relationship but this time it is more serious. At first everything went smoothly, until one day Gwen suddenly disappeared without news. Steven tried to find out about Gwen's whereabouts from his friends, but did not get any information.

Gwen's family disappeared and could not be contacted at all. He wants to return home but can't because his father's company is in need of him so Steven is forced to wait until he can return to his country.

A month after Gwen disappeared, Steven was finally able to go home. When he asked his parents, they said it was surprising that Gwen had married another man and lived in the country.

The harsh reality of it was a success that took Steven a hit. Moreover, the reason Gwen left him was because she did not love Steven anymore. The reason that actually can not be accepted Steven because impressed contrived.

Steven did not immediately believe his mother, he sought Gwen's whereabouts by deploying all of his father's bodyguards but to no avail. He also asked his father to look for him but nil.

Until finally he gave up after his search for several years that did not produce results. Revenge and hate are firmly planted in his heart due to Gwen's betrayal. Her attitude grew cold and untouchable until she finally met Fiona. The girl who was able to shake his heart at first sight.

Steven's mother swallowed her savannah with a paled face. "Who told you that?" steven's mother asked with a trembling voice.

"I accidentally met Lily overseas. He told me that his brother was dead. The day I couldn't communicate with him, that was when Gwen had an accident" Steven said.

Steven's mother's tongue was instantly dumb. Finally, the one he feared all along happened as well. This time, he would not be able to hide his truth anymore from his son. "Yes, it's true that Gwen's dead" I'm Steven's mother.

"Why did Mama cover up the truth? Why Ma??" Steven raised his voice with fiery eyes. She was angry that she had been lied to by her mother.

"Steve, all that mama did to protect you from getting hurt."

His mother didn't want to see Steven slump if she knew the truth. Moreover, there are others who will be the target of his anger if Steven knows the truth about the accident that took Gwen's life.

He fears that his son will lose control later and take revenge on the man who hurt Gwen without knowing the truth.

Steven laughed, a very strange laugh. "It just makes me even more hurt Ma. Do you know, I always curse and swear that he can't live happily because he has betrayed me, but it turns out I cursed the wrong person, Ma." Steven's tone sounded desperate, disappointed and angry.

"I'm sorry Steve's mom. Mama knows it's too late but believe me, you're doing it for your own good" Steven's mother said with a sorry face. "Gwen's gone, it's time you let him go. Didn't you say that you didn't want to talk about her anymore."

Highlight Steven's eyes sharpened and his face hardened. "That was before I knew the truth."

Steven's mother's eyebrows fused together. "What do you mean?"

Steven's mother's body trembled violently hearing his son's speech. "Steve, the culprit has been arrested and he has already accepted his sentence. Even today, he is still in prison. Why else would you take revenge on him?"

Steven grinned. "I heard that besides the driver, there was another woman in the car. He was acquitted of the sentence for not being found guilty. I want that woman to accept her punishment as well. Now tell me, that woman's identity before my patience runs out, Ma."

That's what her mother would have feared if she told Steven about Gwen's accident.

"Steve, that woman is innocent. He doesn't know anything. The court has also ruled that he is innocent, this is the driver's pure negligence."

Steven stood up and approached his mother. "Why did you protect that woman so much? I'm getting curious as to who that woman really is."

Steven's mother grabbed his son's hand when she saw Steven's vengeful look in his son's eyes. "Steve, listen to mama, forget about Gwen's problem," Steven's mother persuaded in a soft voice.

"You'll soon be married to Fiona. Think about how she would feel if she knew you still cared about Gwen. She'd be very disappointed in you and think you still love her,"

"Ma, this has nothing to do with Fiona. This issue will not affect our relationship. Our marriage will continue but after I find the woman" Steven said in a heavy and stressed voice.

"If you don't want to tell me about the woman, then, I'll be looking for her myself until I see you" Steven continued.

When Steven was about to leave, his mother immediately prevented him from leaving. "Steve, wait!"

Steven stopped his steps. "Are you really not letting go of that woman?"

Steven set his hunting breath. "No, I don't intend to let go. He's set me apart from Gwen, which is why I just let him go, Ma" Steven said without looking at his mother.

"You're gonna hurt Steve yourself, if you keep pushing to find that woman."

"I don't care, Ma. I'll keep looking for a woman, even without Mama's help."

"Alright, if that is your determination. Mama will tell you the identity of the woman, but after you answer your question."

It's better for him to tell her than for her to know from others. That's what Steven's mother had in mind when she saw his son's kekeh attitude.

Steven turned to face his mother. "What?"

"What would you do to that woman if you found her?"

"I just want him to rot in prison" Steven replied firmly.

"Even though he's innocent?"

"I don't accept any defense Ma," Steven replied quickly.

"You should have listened to Mama's story first. I don't think you understood the woman's position at the time. He's innocent."

"I don't know why you're protecting her so much, but I don't intend to let her go Ma."

Steven's mother closed her eyes for a moment and then adjusted her breathing. There was no point in preventing Steven at this moment. Any explanation he won't be able to accept. "All right, mama will tell you who that woman is. Mama hopes you can change your mind when you find out who that woman is."

"I told you, Ma, I have no intention of letting go of that woman. Now tell me what the woman's name is and what family she comes from" Steven said.

Steven's mother took a deep breath after which exhaled it through her mouth. "That woman is Fiona Adiguna House."

When hearing Fiona's name mentioned by her mother, Steven felt like he was struck by lightning in broad daylight. His heart was pounding very fast, his face instantly paled like a corpse, his body stiff as if his blood flow had stopped flowing within his body.
