The Hunter System

The Hunter System
Chapter 1 - Alvin Rufino

[“Master, one of your daily quests is not finished yet. Settlement time is only three hours from now,”]

There was a mechanical man in my head.

The voice of a Hunter System that had fused with me, after I had almost died in a raid failure inside a Dungeon.

...****************...

“Hei Alvin! Alvin...!”

In his sleep, Alvin can hear the voice of a woman who is already very familiar in his ears.

Shortly after, due to the loud shock he felt, Alvin finally opened his eyes and immediately sat on his bed.

“Earthquake?!”

Alvin was about to get out of bed, but canceled his intention when he saw Vina, his older brother, sitting on the edge of the bed laughing giggling.

He finally realized that the tremor that felt like an earthquake had to be Vina who tried to wake herself up by shaking her body.

"Oh, your face is so cute" sneered Vina, who then laughed again.

Alvin looked at Vina angrily, holding onto both of her hot and painful cheeks.

“Can you wake me up a little gently?!” Alvin Umpat.

“Tsk... Your alarm has been sounding since then and I saw the notification ‘important promise’ on your phone screen. You should thank me!" Vina said in a louder voice, standing up and going to the door of the room.

“At least, can you not beat my face too?” alvin protests again, with gouging feelings.

From the pain left on both of his cheeks, he knew, Vina must have hit him too.

“Are you not a hunter? I heard that the hunter will not be affected by a normal human blow even if it is done with all his might." Vina said without turning away and continued to walk towards the door.

Alvin looked at Vina's back, still with a feeling of annoyance. However, he did not respond to his brother's remarks anymore.

'Well, anyways he doesn't know that his sister is a lousy hunter who is always being taunted by other hunters.'

As he was already in the doorway, Vina stopped and turned around.

“Tomorrow commemoration of mother's death day. Dad might be coming home. I hope you don't come home too late" Vina said, reminding.

Alvin did not respond to it anymore, but there was a slight change in his facial expression that had looked angry, becoming calmer.

Not getting any more responses, Vina spoke to her sister again, "You want to do another raid, right?"

"Yes." Yeah."

Vina let out a long sigh, worried about the safety of that one-of-a-kind brother. "Be careful, ok?"

Alvin simply responded with a faint smile. He knew, Vina was worried about him who always came home in a state of severe injury after a raid.

......................

Alvin Rufino, 25, was born just 3 days after the world's first Dungeon Gate.

Back then, the Dungeon Gate that had brought calamity to mankind around the world, had made mankind lose almost half of its population.

Fortunately, in addition to the presence of a gate that brings monsters to invade mankind, along with the resurrection of humans as a superhuman, which will later be known as a hunter.

Otherwise, perhaps the current human population has been completely wiped out.

However, getting the awakening to become a hunter, does not automatically make that person special.

Not everyone who has been raised will get extraordinary strength.

Among them, there were hunters who gained extremely ordinary strength, some even gained extremely weak strength, to the point that it was almost no different from normal humans in general.

Damn, Alvin was among the ranks of these extremely weak hunters.

As a result of being too weak, Alvin had even experienced difficulties while still in the Hunter Academy, when he was training to become a professional hunter.

In fact, he almost did not pass if someone did not give him a recommendation.

After he became a professional hunter, Alvin was often bullied and humiliated by his colleagues because the hunter class he had could be said to be almost useless.

A Healer with an F rating. The lowest rank in the hunter ranking system.

Those are the words that one of the hunters from the Association, Brondy Lewis, always mocked him.

...****************...

Alvin arrived early in the Dungeon gate area that had been heavily guarded by the Hunters of the Association, compared to the 6 other hired hunters who would also be in his raid team.

When he had just entered the heavily guarded area, he immediately got the displeased gazes of the two Association hunters who were sitting chatting near the gate.

Alvin even heard one of them directly talk about him in a very condescending manner.

'Tsk... Brondy Lewis again.'

Regardless of the insults from the person who for 5 years always tried to destroy his mentality, Alvin walked continuously to the desk of the identity hunter identification officer to perform regristation.

That said, he was already immune to the insults that Brondy and his friends always do. Alvin knew Brondy would insult him whenever he had the chance.

“Gosh, why are they calling him again? Shit, if I knew he was coming, I'd be taking a day off today!” Bumpat Brondy, while looking at Alvin with a disdainful look.

“Hey, soften your voice. He can hear it.” Tegur another hunter who sat next to Brondy.

“What cares about me? I'm just saying a truth.” Brondy.

“She will probably give up being a hunter if people always scoff at her.” The man added.

Hearing the hunter's words, Alvin smiled sinisterly. He knew Brondy's partner just wanted to look good in other people's eyes. Though, in his heart, he might mock even more violently.

They were in the same Hunter Academy for 4 years. So, Alvin already knew the nature of those people.

Alvin who is used to being ridiculed, even knows the difference of a mockery or sympathy directed at him. And to his knowledge, there were only 1 person in the Academy who really cared about him sincerely.

“I told him to listen and feel ashamed! It would be best if people seemed to forget the dream of becoming a hunter. His abilities are completely useless!" Said Brondy, who began to speak with a higher tone of voice.

“Hey, stop..”.

“I was also surprised, why the team captain asked him to be included in our raid team.”

Not only Alvin, all the officers from the Hunter Association could now hear what the two hunters were talking about.

“Don't get discouraged just because of such talk, ok? Fight to raise your rank. Someday, you will silence the mouths of those who humbled you.” Said the young woman, the hunter's identity identification officer, returning Alvin's identification card to her.

Alvin accepted back his card and smiled faintly at the woman without responding to the words of encouragement given by him.

‘Tsk..., your eyes say different things.’

Alvin went away right after. She knew that she was only saying such a good thing in front of her. It is precisely people like him who usually talk about weak hunters like Alvin in the back more painfully.

......................

The other six chartered hunters, all of whom were ranked D, finally arrived 1 hour after Alvin's arrival.

Among them, there was a sweet girl who immediately ran up to Alvin and surprised him when Alvin was busy listening to old songs through his earphones.

“Alvin!” The girl shouted while patting hard on Alvin's shoulder.

Being surprised like that, of course made Alvin pry. He stared at Shiva Kania's face, his only childhood friend could even be said to be the only friend he had, angrily.

“Can you say hello without surprising people?"

“Oh, sorry to surprise you.”

Shiva then laughed giggling while covering his mouth with one hand.

At that moment, Borndy came closer.

“You're his friend, right? I hope you can keep this loser well and not trouble us.” Brondy said to Shiva, deliberately seeking the attention of the girl.

Alvin, who was still sitting on the ground, looked up at Brondy, only to give a contemptuous look at the man. He knows Brondy always tries to get close to Shiva, but Shiva also ignores him.

"You dare look at me like that?!" Bumpat Brondy, unhappy with Alvin's mocking look, at him.

Because of the loudness of Brondy's voice as he snapped at Alvin, everyone there could hear, and they turned to the direction of the sound almost simultaneously.

The atmosphere became tense instantly.
