Chapter 58 - Hunter Shoes

Part 4: Hunter Gear...

...☆ ☆ ☆...

"Bro, doesn't it matter if they take your picture?" jack asked shortly after he and Alvin exited the Dungeon gate. He realizes that Alvin is a fugitive from another city's association.

But, he was surprised when he saw Alvin had vanished from next to him when they were still walking side by side.

"Where'd he go?" jack muttered after he went back inside the gate to check if Alvin was back inside, but Alvin was not in the Dungeon.

"Where is he?" ivory asked half a whisper. He immediately approached Jack when he thought he would come out with Alvin.

"He.." Jack looked at Ivory in confusion. "He's gone."

"Huh?"

"S-I'm not sure.., miss Cruz."

"Well, it's good that he doesn't come out first."

"Yes?"

"He's a fugitive, right? Look at them." Ivory said as she looked at the dozens of cameras that continued to shine towards the gate.

At the same time, the journalists attempt to break through the fence of the military, just as Lex answers the question of one of the reporters who asks if Jack Paul actually killed the monsters.

"Is it really Mr Paul who overcame his Dungeon, Mr Brown? Has he been hiding his powers?"

"Yes... Actually he's hiding his powers." Lex looked at Jack with a meaningful smile.

Across there, Jack looked at his boss with a dazed face.

'I know you're trying to protect her so she can stay in our town safely, Mr. Brown. But why should I?'

'Because you're the only Association Hunter among them. Someone has to be a hero. It can't be me, right?'

That was the talk of the two hunters of the Association. Although they could not speak telepathically but, from the gaze of the eyes alone, they could already understand each other.

The journalists initially suspected the man who came in with a shabby, pale-faced appearance as a hunter who had helped City T overcome an A-ranked Dungeon. But, Robbie Cale who knew that the S City Association would go after Alvin, immediately denied it as well.

"No. He actually just went inside the gate to take care of our supplies." Robbie.

"But where's the hunter?" ask reporters.

"We asked him to look after the monster's corpse" Robbie said again with a stiff smile.

It was at this point that Lex confirmed that Jack Paul was the one who actually helped them all.

.........

"Why are you protecting her?" revi whispered who seemed to dislike Robbie's words.

Robbie just smiled thinly, not poking the question. He then left Revi who was now looking at him angrily.

"Damn. He must have wanted to recruit her!" umpat Revi, who immediately contacted his guild secretary to find information about Alvin, also met him personally.

"Hey, remember. You should be able to recruit him no matter what fee he asks!" revi's orders were very strict with his secretary.

As a powerful hunter, he certainly knew that Alvin was much stronger than him.

He did not want Ribbie or Ivory to get his signature first because thus the guild position would be reversed.

......................

Shortly before coming out of the gate, Alvin used stealth, a skill he had just obtained, to avoid the media crew who would definitely shower him with various questions.

In addition, local television is doing a live broadcast so it will be very dangerous if his face is highlighted by the camera of the media crew. He still did not want to deal with the Lewis family who would have immediately sought him out to City T if he knew he was in the city.

Fortunately, his appearance before entering the Dungeon gate made all the media crew shocked because of his appearance until they forgot to take a photo of him. Thus, Alvin could still hide himself from the Lewis family.

......................

"Alvin?!" exclaimed Vina who was very anxious with no news from her sister.

He stood up from the couch and ran over to Alvin, when he saw his sister coming out the door.

Actually, Vina really wanted to nag Alvin. But when he saw the appearance of his sister who was very chaotic, he undoes his intentions.

"You... Are you hurt?"

"No. I'm fine" said Alvin as he looked at his body as well, which was wrapped in clothes that were already heavily destroyed.

As a result of the monster attack level being higher than the durability of his armor, he sustained quite a number of injuries while fighting against the Dungeon boss. Armor that was much lower than the opponent's attack power could indeed reduce the impact of magic energy from the attack, but could not resist so that the opponent's weapon did not penetrate to his body.

Vina directly lifted Alvin's clothes to check his body until it twisted him as well. He was relieved when he saw Alvin was not hurt at all.

"Thank God you weren't hurt."

"I'm a Healer. Did you forget?"

"Y-yes... But you're still badly hurt when you heal him, right? It must have been very painful" said Vina, pulling Alvin's clothes, tightening them to see the dagger in the abdomen.

"Lumayan. But I'm used to it. So don't worry."

"But where have you been? Jack called me dozens of times to ask where you are."

Alvin did not answer. He walked past Vina and stared at the television that was airing the news of the raid he had just completed.

"They managed to defeat the monster. Mercifully. I'm very anxious because today there will be a Dungeon Break if it doesn't work out" Vina said, staring at the television from where she stood.

"Yes. I know," said Alvin quietly. He turned around to go to his room.

Vina frowned. "You know that already? Are you actually from that Dungeon as well?"

"Yes." Yeah."

"W-what?! But...," Vina did not continue her question. He remembered Alvin had already said that he would help these city hunters.

Alvin stopped his footsteps and turned to look at Vina again.

"Jack?"

"Yes. They said that he was the one who contributed the most in the raid."

"Who said it?"

"Chairman Association. Mr. Brown."

Alvin smiled faintly.

'They want to protect me.'

"Is that not true?"

"No. Thas right. He's very strong."

"So..," murmured Vina. "You take a shower first. I'll cook you dinner later."

Vina then turned her body and went back towards the sofa to continue watching the news broadcast.

But, Alvin had seen there was a slight change in his brother's face that flushed for a moment before he turned around earlier.

'Why does his face look so stupid?'

["You're the stupid one."]

'uh? Why are you suddenly talking to me?'

["Because you're stupid. You need someone to help you think about not getting lost!"]

'Yes. Whatever.'

["Hey, what's wrong with you?"]

'I won't win arguing with you.'

["Who asked you to argue?"]

'...'

......................

After taking a bath, Alvin finally reopened his status to see the development he had gained.

"Level 76's. Am I now on par with an A rank hunter?"

["Yes."]

Alvin nodded slowly. He noticed all of his basic status increases before closing that status window to unlock the rewards he got after completing the level 61 quest.

He had a hidden gift that he had not yet opened because of the rush to go to help City T's hunters.

...°•°•°•°•°•°•°...

...Article Name: Hunter Boots...

...Rarity : Infinite...

...Item Level: 1/5...

...Function: Increase speed by 5 times top speed...

...•°•°•°•°•°•°•...

"Shoes? But its rarity is limitless? What's that supposed?"

["This is very rare. This is the best item that there is only one in the universe."]

Alvin was quite proud when he found out that there was only one item. But when System said the last 3 words, he almost laughed.

"Where do you know that this item only exists in the universe?"

["Because I'm from the future."]

"Ok..," Alvin nodded slowly. It was the mainstay sentence that the System always spoke, which made it always silenced.

'I would also believe that you said ducks would be wiped out in the future.'

["They are still in the future."]

"..."

Alvin then retrieves the item that just appeared in his inventory window.

"God! How am I wearing this thing? It's very heavy. How will my speed increase by five times by putting this iron on my feet?"

["Tsk... Wear it before you protest."]

Alvin put the shoes on his feet. Then, he heard a notification from Rimi.

After Rimi gave the notification, the sense of weight of the golden iron shoes disappeared. Alvin didn't even feel like he was using something on his leg. The shoe is now even lighter than a feather.

"W-wow... How come these shoes suddenly feel nothing at my feet?"

["After the owner has been identified, the shoe has completely fused with your body."]

"W-what?! So I can't take it off?"

["That's just figurative words. That means, only you can use it. You can take it off anytime. But you better always wear it."]

"How could I always wear it? What if I take a shower and sleep?"

["Enable the Hunters Equipment status window."]

After System said that sentence, in front of Alvin appeared the status of the item that made Alvin wide.
