Of all the magic lessons, the most difficult for Talia to master was the ability to control the fire element. For some reason Talia felt herself incompatible with the fire. The heat caused Talia to feel uncomfortable. He was also not very proficient in making the tongue of fire keep burning on his palm, even just on his index finger.
Today, Professor Litchberg's lesson hours have entered the stage of magic practice. Previously Talia had only studied the basic theory of the fire element. But that morning, their class was greeted with the practical task of making tongues of fire in hand. Since a few months in the academy, Talia had only seriously studied. He knew that fire magic was his weakness. The usually cool classroom atmosphere now feels sultry because each child begins to make a blazing fire in their hands.
"Concentrate all the energy into the palm of the hand while imagining flaming tongues of fire. Don't be too big. Small is fine, like a quiet candle flame" Professor Litchberg said, putting it into practice.
A red flame danced on the professor's palm, making his spectacles sparkle. Professor Litchberg opened his other hand and made a similar flame, as easy as turning his hand. Now the two flames are dancing in rhythm and look beautiful when seen.
Talia also wants to be able to do it. But every time he thought that the fire would enlarge and burn his body, his concentration was again dissolved. Unlike other elements such as water, wind, or soil, these three do not pose too significant a danger if they are removed in large quantities. Talia's magic energy isn't that much that it can create a flood or a storm.
However, the fire element is a little different. A small mistake can burn parchment in his book, then spread to a wooden table that is also flammable. Fire is like a predator that eats things quickly. Therefore Talia was always very careful when trying to control the element.
Talia tried to re-focus on her palm. Now all his fingers are pale white because of the mental pressure exerted by the owner. Five minutes passed, nothing happened. Ten minutes later, Talia surrendered. The girl looked at the whole class. Not all of his friends succeeded. Mostly scorched their parchment, and nearly turned the wooden table into charcoal. A boy named Sean even burned his entire arm and made his robe half.
"Imagine if the fire is your friend. She dances beautifully to keep you entertained" Kyle said, seeing Talia make no progress.
Talia looked at her friend. In both palms Kyle now lit two flames of dark blue gradation in the middle and light blue on the outer sides. Only this time Talia saw such a colored flame.
"Why is your fire blue?" ask Talia in amazement.
"Because the dark element I have changed its bright color," Kyle replied.
"Very pretty. Isn't it hot?" talia asked again as she brought her hand closer to feel the warmth of Kyle's blue flames. It was hotter than ordinary fire.
"It's a little hotter. The dark-elemented fire could not be extinguished before it devoured its target" Kyle explained as he clenched his palm and extinguished the blue flame instantly. He was worried that Talia could get hurt from observing too closely.
"Well, why is it turned off. Though I want to see more clearly," lamented Talia disappointed.
"dangerous. You better focus on your training. Open your hands" Kyle said.
Talia according. He opened his left palm and again tried to focus the magic energy to that point. But the shadow of the fire that enlarged and burned his hand made Talia concentration again scatter.
"The fireman is your friend. A pretty red little friend. He danced in your hands happily while smiling at you," Kyle suggested.
Talia follows the guidance given by Kyle. He tried to visualize a tongue of fire with an adorable face dancing on his palm. The tongue of the fire is friendly, friendly and not dangerous at all. It's just a pretty little blaze.
"Don't be afraid. Slowly drain your energy. The concept is the same as when you made other elemental magic. Flowing like water, free like the wind, stable like the ground and warm like fire. Do it slowly and believe in your abilities" Kyle said as he passed his magic energy into Talia's hands gently.
Kyle's magic energy helped stabilize Talia's energy.
"What if the fire appears too big?" ask Talia nervously.
"I will neutralize it with my magic," Kyle replied as he continued to channel his magic energy into Talia's palm. "Do it slowly."
Talia according. He repeated Kyle's directions again and poured out his magic energy slowly while imagining adorable tongues of fire dancing before him. The reddish sparks reappear. Talia resisted her strong desire to grasp. He felt calmer because there was Kyle's energy stabilizing him. Again he concentrated. The spark grew slowly until it formed a flame the size of a flame at the end of the candle.
"I did it, Kyle!" pekik Talia girang's.
"Continue a little more," Kyle's command encourages Talia to enlarge the size of her flame.
Talia took a deep breath and re-flowed her magic energy. The tongue of the fire grew a few inches slowly. It doesn't feel hot at all. It is warm and comfortable. The fire was harmless and danced beautifully on Talia's palm.
"OK, just this big, '" Kyle said after Talia's flame was at the right size. "Preserve this size. I will release my magic energy slowly. Stay calm and don't panic."
Talia nodded briefly. The girl also began to catch her breath so that the flow of her magic energy remained stable. Meanwhile Kyle pulled his own hand and stopped the flow of his magic energy. Talia's flame tongue remained at its previous size even though Kyle wasn't helping her.
"good. You succeed. Easy, right?" kyle asked with a satisfied smile. The young man rubbed Talia's head proudly.
Talia smiled back at her friend. "Thank you, Kyle," Talia said.
"You can use that fire magic when you're in a dangerous state. It's okay to put out a big fireball if you're in an urgent situation" Kyle advised later.
Talia immediately cupped her palm and extinguished the flames instantly. "Why are you suddenly talking about it?" asked Talia who saw Kyle's anxious expression.
"Eitherway. I feel a bad feeling. The last few days have been too quiet. Maybe Ludwig is up to something. It was like the silence before the great storm. We better be on our guard," Kyle said.
Talia felt the same way. He has always been nervous since he entered the academy. Problems always come and go because he is too involved in other people's problems. Unfortunately, these problems will affect him in the future. So Talia does not want to have to face it. The faster the better. At least Talia has a plan.
