“Actually what kind of stupid thought comes to your little head?” asked Ludwig with a wrinkled face. It seems that's not a proper guess.

“Then what is the reason? Why are you obsessed with making Kyle lonely and have no friends?” ask Talia later. “Are you so worried that he took your position as heir?”

Ludwig snorted softly. “You think I care about that. I don't have to go that far if it's only about inheritance rights. Without me doing anything, the Duke's title would definitely be mine. I'm the first son, while he's just the son of a concubine, ” said the young man without much thought.

“So what's the reason? I don't want to do something for no apparent reason,” urges Talia to never give up.

Kyle took a deep breath. “She's a dangerous person,” her answer is short.

Talia really doesn't think out. On what basis does Ludwig Gothe claim that his own brother is dangerous. “You are also dangerous. But I'm still hanging out with you. From the beginning I wondered why you chose me to join the society. I've taken the trouble to avoid all of Gothe's descendants, including you and Kyle. But you two are always the ones who get me in trouble,” Talia protests later.

Ludwig just smiled knot. “That's because you kept spying on me in the library. I thought you were interested in me,” said lightly.

“Your head contains absurd things,” reply Talia sarcastic.

“Indeed only that's my excuse.” Ludwig replied while shrugging his shoulders.

Talia clucked slowly. There's no point in talking to this guy. He never gave a satisfactory answer.

“I thought you were close to Kyle. Why did she suddenly become so hateful?” ask Talia later.

“What does he say like that?”

“That's how I heard.”

Ludwig looked at the ceiling of his room as if he was reminiscing about a painful memory of the past. “Dark strength of dad decreases on Kyle. He would not be able to survive that power if he had a weak soul. Darkness can prey on him,” said the young man nanar.

“Lantas what does that have to do with you always trying to keep Kyle away from his friends? Are you afraid we're hurt? Kyle is not that kind of person. And it's even stranger to imagine you care about other people.”

With a sharp glance Ludwig looked at Talia. “You think I'm what kind of person?” he said he couldn't believe it.

Talia simply raised her eyebrows while replying. “No normal person would send a jerked puma monster to attack a first-rate child.”

Ludwig let out a slow breath. “I'm not trying to kill anyone. If you want to be friends with my sister, you should at least be able to defeat such a weak monster. More than that, Kyle should be able to face his darkness. The more he interacts with others, the more fragile his soul becomes. He will begin to rely on his friends, then if someone betrays him, then he can be drowning in his emotions. It would make the darkness swallow him,” the young man's light was at length.

“Nothing to believe in this world. As the owner of dark forces, Kyle should be able to survive by trusting himself,” Ludwig continued.

Talia was silent. All the puzzles seemed to be answered. Ludwig's words are true. At one point, when Kyle was experiencing such strong emotions, darkness overpowered the young man. Talia had already seen it for herself when she was in Kyle's future. Is that why Ludwig always keeps Kyle from having friends? Is that way true? How lonely would a person be if he had no one to lean on?

“You sure care about your sister. But I don't think that's right, Ludwig. You shouldn't make Kyle suffer just because he has the power of darkness. He's human, just like you. Kyle has the right to enjoy his life with others,” Talia Sharp said.

“Then what if that person betrayed him? No relationship lasts forever, Ortega. Be it a friendship, or even a family. Kyle's power is so great that he might be able to destroy this entire kingdom. It was his destiny, to live alone,” Ludwig said seriously.

“What if that guy doesn't betray Kyle? He might have a sincere friend. I never even thought about getting him hurt, ” said Talia stubbornly.

Ludwig snorted while smiling knots. “Not only painful betrayal. Loss is much more dangerous. Probably death.”

Talia was at a loss for words. Ludwig guessed correctly. In his previous life, Talia's death had caused Kyle to lose his sanity. He was controlled by darkness to destroy the kingdom. Should he obey Ludwig's request to stay away from Kyle? Talia was really tired of thinking about that. From the beginning, why did he have to deal with this complicated family. The girl could only sigh quietly without saying anything more.

Talia was sent back to her room using teleportation crystals from Ludwig. His head was heavy from thinking about things beyond his reach. Therefore, as soon as it spread in her bed, Talia immediately fell asleep.

The next days went slowly. Ever since his encounter with Ludwig, Talia had unknowingly become keeping a distance with Kyle. He no longer chatted with Kyle and only talked as necessary. Most of his time he spent avoiding Kyle with various efforts.

Sometimes he runs off with Susan to eat alone in the dorm, or goes to visit the greenhouse to help Professor Debora, Head of Garden Care, harvest an adult mandrake. The mandrake's cries strangely made Talia feel calm. At least his head became busy with those shrill voices until he had no time to think of anything.

“Are you in trouble with Kyle?” ask Susan one day. They were already halfway to the Academy after an entire afternoon of plucking the ground-soaked mandrake. Talia's uniform is dirty with mud. However the girl was able to cleanse her entire body by summoning the Undine.

“Sentence, Susan. I'm having a hard time deciding something. What should you do if you find out that you're going to have a bad effect on your friend? Are you still going to be in touch with him?” ask Talia frankly. It seems like Susan used her manipulative magic because Talia became so light about it.

“What happened to you and Kyle? Why do you feel like you're having a bad influence? It might just be your mind. As a friend, of course I will try to give my best to my best friend. I'll make it better after being friends with me. It was a workable thing,” Susan answered with confidence.

“But not forever we can be friends. One day we might be separated. Either because of circumstances or maybe even death,” said Talia grimly.

Susan immediately stopped her steps and immediately stood before Talia with a resolute look. “It's humane if you feel sad when you lose a friend. But that doesn't mean you have to stop looking for a friend, Talia. All you have to teach your friend is the understanding that life is going to go on. Meeting and separation is a natural thing to happen. So you have to make sure that you, or whoever your friends are, enjoy these times until the time comes when we'll be apart. I don't know for any reason.”

Talia was stunned for a moment. It seems like Susan's advice is the answer she was looking for. Too much worry just made him move in place. Talia knew now, that in order to protect Kyle, she didn't have to make the young man lonely. Instead, Talia must make Kyle understand her emotions until her soul is unshakable due to painful events.

“Thank you, Susan. You really have made me find the answer,” Talia murmured with a gentle smile.
