The Sight Of Future
Pterotos Attack

Evening has arrived. Susan decided to stay in Talia's room. They were both on guard until late at night. Talia could not sleep because she was agitated. This is the time both of them have to face a wild animal after having been attacked by a dragon. The experience was not at all pleasant.

Susan comforts Talia by inviting her to chat about many things. Talia even showed her fire spirit, Smoke, to Susan. His best friend was completely stunned when he saw the fire bird Talia. Smoke can't talk to anyone but Talia. Susan could only see him flying around the room for a few times. Smoke finally returned to the spirit world after grumbling as it was only called to show off.

Talia's mood was slightly lighter late at night. Leo's magic detection device is neatly mounted on a small table next to Talia's bed. It was shaped like a black metal. A small alarm is assembled inside the metal dish, which – said Leo – will sound if it receives an energy signal from the magic creature. So far the device has not shown any reaction. Talia assumes that it means the conditions out there are still safe.

Right at midnight, Talia and Susan were already completely sleepy. The eyes of the two of them were both extremely heavy, as if bewitched with sleeping potions. Talia forced herself to stay awake, but several times her head was subdued involuntarily. Susan had the same thing.

“Sleep first, Talia. I'll be on guard for a few hours. When I'm no longer strong, I'll wake you up. We take turns,” suggested Susan later.

“Are you sure you're still strong enough to survive? You better sleep first,” Talia said.

Susan nodded slowly. “It's okay. I will wash my face to make it fresher,” he said as he got out of bed.

Talia finally agreed to the proposal. There is no point if both of them are sleep deprived at a time like this. On the other hand, taking care of it will be more effective. However, right after Talia coiled comfortably behind her blanket, suddenly the detector from Leo rang out loud, like a deafening ringing sound.

Sontah, Talia got up from her bed. Then Susan came from behind the bathroom door. The girl's face was even still wet because it had not been wiped with a dry towel.

“Dia comes?” susan asked still a little dazed.

Talia nodded slowly and then again called out to Smoke from the spirit dimension.

“Why call me again? Don't use me to do useless things,” grumbled smoke pissed.

“I need your strength, Smoke. We will face a pterotos,” Talia murmured while preparing. He and Susan were now standing by the exit vigilantly. The sound of the detection device has died down. Talia would bet that the sound must have awakened some children whose rooms were close to them.

“Pterotos? The magic serpent? Well, you gave me a nice dinner, Contractor,” Smoke said sounding gleeful.

Talia never knew that it turned out that the element spirits were eating magical beasts as their food. But that's not what matters now. His heart was pounding waiting for the arrival of the magical creature.

A few minutes passed, and there were no signs of the animal. It seems like the detection tool made by Riko can indeed scan areas with a wide range. Even so, Talia remained vigilant. The sleepiness has completely disappeared. He now clutches the doorknob, preparing to escape if Smoke's attack cannot defeat the pterotos.

“It's stressful. I hate waiting for danger to come,” Susan commented with a serious expression.

“Smoke, change to phoenix form,” Talia command immediately.

“Good, Contractor. I have also smelled the delicious aroma of meat,” said Smoke then flew around once. The fire in the spirit's body grew then in one blink of an eye, it turned into a dashing phoenix.

Susan had no time to be amazed as the next second, a slippery snake emerged from the window grille of Talia's room. The snake hissed angrily when he saw his prey turned out to have welcomed his arrival ferociously. The pterotos opened its wings and flew towards the two girls.

“Strike now, Smoke!” talia's exclamation was followed by a fire from her phoenix.

Susan also deployed her fire magic towards the winged serpent. But the snake managed to twitch from both of their attacks. The pterotos was flying around the ceiling while hissing and baring its threatening canines. The monster was roughly half the length of Talia's body, with two large black-feathered wings.

Smoke chased the pterotos for a few moments while spouting flames. The winged serpent also spouted its venom, which was actually in vain because the spirit of fire could not be poisoned.

Instinctively, the pterotos then flew towards Talia, the owner of the spirit. His right wing was already slightly charred from being hit by a burst of fire from Smoke. Nevertheless, he was still able to fly smoothly towards Talia.

The panicked Susan immediately cast her fire magic and hit the stomach of the pterotos. Unfortunately Susan's fire was not enough to burn the monster's body wrapped in hard metal scales. Talia understood now why Kyle had him melt the metal to defeat the winged snake. The girl could do nothing as her hands were still outstretched to send magic energy to Smoke. The girl could only shriek in horror and cover her face with one other hand.

Pterotos' muzzle was about to hit Talia's arm. But at the right moment, Susan throws her body to protect her best friend. The shocked Talia almost released her magic energy from Smoke. But with lightning speed, Smoke finally managed to catch the fire snake and************ alive until it was charred to ashes.

“Susan!” pekik Talia was surprised.

Susan had already fallen to her feet on the floor of the room while holding her own arm, looking in pain. Talia immediately knelt down to check on her best friend's condition.

“Susan, are you okay?” ask Talia to worry.

Susan didn't answer right away and just kept moaning in pain. Talia realized that Susan's arm was now filled with severe ulcers.

“You were exposed to pterotos poison!” call out Talia panic. “We must immediately go to the place of Madam Hudges to treat it,” continued the girl while memapah Susan stand.

Susan looked in pain. Poison pterotos will cause severe ulcers that feel hot burning human skin. Talia did not hold back her tears seeing her best friend in so much pain. After returning Smoke to the spirit dimension, Talia comes out of her room with Susan.

It turned out that in the third floor corridor, where Talia's room was located, the children from the next room had already come out and looked curiously. The commotion in Talia's room must have caught the attention of all of them. All the students who had seemed still sleepy were immediately shocked when they saw the condition of Susan who was bleeding in pain. They all followed Talia to Madam Hudges' room on the first floor.
