The Sight Of Future

The Sight Of Future
Promises

The next morning, Talia left for the Academy as usual. He had breakfast with Susan and tried his hardest to avoid Kyle. Unfortunately they still had to meet because Kyle was sitting next to him during class. Talia didn't try to get Kyle to chat. Instead the girl paid no heed to Kye in the least.

Kyle didn't try to talk to Talia either. Even so, it was obvious Kyle was paying attention to him. Throughout the lesson, Talia several times caught Kyle staring at her so intensely. It felt like Talia's face could be hollow if Kyle kept looking at her like that.

“What's your problem?” chirp Talia after the fourth lesson is over.

Kyle shrugged his shoulders casually. “Nothing. Why?” he asked back.

“You've been watching me all day. You should have focused on the lesson,” grumbled the girl protested.

Kyle breathed a heavy sigh. Then turned his somber gaze towards Professor Li who had just walked into their classroom. “Entahlah. I still feel you're suspicious,” murmured short.

“I didn't do anything to you,” Talia said still grumbling.

Kyle did not answer again. He just went back to pretending to be paying attention to the lesson. But Talia still caught Kyle wet while watching him unconsciously.

The same thing happens during meal times. Kyle continued to watch Talia from a distance, making the girl so uneasy and distracted. Even Susan noticed it slowly.

“Are you close to Kyle Gothe?” I asked Susan a few days later.

Talia shook her head slowly, then glanced towards Kyle who was sitting with Leo at the end of the dining table. “We sat down in class. But besides, we are not close,” replied Talia honestly.

“He's been watching you since yesterday, and yesterday again. Every day he steals a look at you. You sure you're not friends? Or maybe there is a problem between you?” susan is getting interested.

“Nothing, Susan. There is absolutely nothing. He's just a classmate who happens to be sitting with me,” kilah Talia firmly.

Talia can't do anything else with Kyle's suspicious attitude. I don't know why he didn't want Kyle to ignore him either. Once upon a time Talia was so eager to tell Kyle about their previous life. But Talia restrained herself. He still felt the best option was not to be friends with Kyle anymore.

In order to avoid Kyle, Talia usually escapes to the library. Besides because Kyle doesn't like being in that place, it's also because Talia wants to find out about her lost power. Several books on divination magic have been read by Talia, but she has not found the cause of the loss of her future-looking powers. Although he is also a little grateful because now he can touch others freely.

Until finally one day he found a book called Witch and Divination: History of the Magic World Forecast. An article caught his interest while reading the book. The chapter is in the last pages that tell the story of an ancient oracle who suddenly lost her ability to predict.

Derrick Oswald, the famous oracle who had foreseen the second Basil war, eventually lost his abilities shortly after foretelling his own death. Derrick sees his future when it comes to dying at the hands of King Adlard in the massive witch burnings of that era. Through his last prophecy, Derrick managed to save himself from his execution, and lived to the age of eighty. But in exchange for that vision, Derrick was forced to lose the ability to predict forever.

“So that's why I can't see the future anymore. Because I've seen my death?” thaad Talia murmured to herself.

Talia let out a long sigh while resuscitating her back to the back. All this time he was used to his ability to see the future. If indeed her past life was just a long prophecy about her death, it meant that Talia had to avoid all the triggers. Wouldn't Kyle be a villain anymore? I don't know. Talia was too dizzy to think.

He looked up and found Ludwig standing in front of him. Talia hurriedly straightened her back. Ludwig was now sitting before him without any burden.

“You already know my name,” chirps Talia later.

Ludwig smiled. “There are several ways to find out. But lately you've been quite famous because my sister keeps watching you. All the kids are talking about you. You know, our family does provoke a lot of gossip,” said Ludwig lightly.

Talia's heart is breaking again. So Ludwig began to notice himself again. Talia had been desperately avoiding Kyle. Will he eventually become a target for Ludwig again?

“I was just wondering why my sister became so interested in you. But nothing seems special about you, Lady Ortega,” continued Ludwig while watching Talia from top to bottom.

Talia cleared her throat awkwardly. “Indeed no. I'm not close to Kyle. We just happened to sit down. Besides we were never familiar,” he said convincingly.

“But you just mentioned my sister's name familiarly.”

Talia jerked little. He used to call Kyle by that name while others who were not too close usually called him by his last name alone, or his full name.

“I, it's because we are classmates. Usually I call all classmates by their first name,” Talia reasoned.

Ludwig just laughed blandly in response. “Alright then. It's not like you're close to my sister, Lady Ortega. Ah, or can I just call Talia? Don't you like to call people familiarly,” the young man said as he leaned his face closer to Talia.

Talia retreated until her back hit the back of the chair. He would have been almost knocked over if Ludwig had not grabbed his wrist.

“Te, thank you,” said Talia hastily let go.

“I just want to be friends with you, Talia. Do you feel the same? Because if you remember again, you've been watching me when we first met here first,” Ludwig said with a suspicious smile.

“It's a misunderstanding. I'm just daydreaming, so subconsciously my view leads to you,” to Talia quickly.

Ludwig nodded in understanding. “Then we are friends because we often meet here. Okay?” ludwig said as he stood up.

Talia did not have time to answer, but the young man had left him alone without having had time to refuse Ludwig's invitation. The girl could only sigh tiredly. Dealing with Ludwig keeps his adrenaline racing. The memory of the monsters that attacked him came back and made Talia so uncomfortable.

“It seems, I still have to get ready against that guy. He might send me a monster if he gets bored. And now no Kyle can protect me,” Talia muttered as she leaned her head against the table.

He should be able to call Smoke again. And if you're lucky, Talia wants to try to master three other elements besides fire. He must be stronger in this life. Talia doesn't want to be the cowardly girl she was before.
