CHAPTER 33. REJECTING OFFERS

Every now and then Verdi glanced from the rearview mirror in front of him, he did feel annoyed at being slapped by Reina but when he saw the woman's tense face made him worry.

“Why you? All right?” tanyakanya.

Reina frowned looking at her boss while holding her breath. He was ashamed and very guilty of what he did. He held his breath and Verdi saw it all. She felt pity seeing Reina's sad facial expression.

“I'm sorry for making you misunderstand. Breathe out! Don't be held back as soon as your chest gets tight. I don't want you to die young in my car out of breath. Later I am accused of killing you.” he said while smiling.

“Thank you. You're not angry are you the same as me?” Reina spoke as she glanced at Verdi who shook his head.

Verdi refocused on driving the car while Reina focused on looking at the man from the side. Her eyebrows are linked to the resemblance between Verdi's face and her husband Varen's.

It's just that Verdi is smooth white and his eyes are blue while Varen is tanned with black eyes. Both are both long-haired and have exactly the same facial features.

‘Why is it that every time I see Mr Verdi, I think of Varen instead? I always imagined Varen, not at home, in the office his face always shadowed me. What's wrong with me? Have I fallen in love with her? Ah no way, this is too fast! But why do I always miss her and fear losing her?’

Verdi's car entered Narenda's office building. When Reina saw the building and the face of the security guard who greeted them she remembered when she applied for a job at the company. He still remembered how the treatment he received by the security guard and the condescending gaze of the company's employees on him.

Reina stared at the name of the company in front of the building. “PT. Ananda Widjaya?” muttered Reina in shock. He was increasingly convinced by his memory that this company was the one who drove him out rudely and booed him for his shabby appearance back then.

“What's with you? Do you know anyone who works here? Or have you been here before?” ask Verdi.

He saw Reina's facial expression that instantly changed upon their arrival. That was why Verdi asked him, because there must be something going on that Reina's attitude immediately changed.

“I have only visited here once sir. Only up to the lobby to deliver my job application letter kok.” replied Reina honestly.

His face turned sour as he recalled how he was chased away and dragged from the lobby all the way to the gate. He came there just asking about job vacancies.

Verdi looked at Reina's face. “Did you get any unpleasant treatment back then?” verdi asked to find out.

“Where can you know?” Reina frowned.

“Nothing. I'm just guessing from your facial expression!” verdi said.

Verdi walked followed Reina towards the lobby. As they passed the security guard standing guard at the entrance, Verdi brought his body closer to Reina then patted her on the back and said, Verdi,

“Walk upright and smile. Never show your fear to anyone! Let them bow their respects to you.”

Did not feel the time goes very fast, it has been an hour passed it turns out that the meeting with Narenda discussed about raw materials that were sent too late. Narenda apologized and was willing to compensate provided Verdi was willing to extend the cooperation contract with them.

“I make sure something like this never happens again. I will ask for the shipment to check back before sending the goods to you. I hope we can continue this work. Regarding the amount of loss we may be able to talk again.” said Narenda Widjaya.

Reina looked directly at her boss to see his reaction. Since the beginning they sat there Verdi has shown his attitude that feels reluctant to continue a cooperative relationship with PT. Ananda Widjaya's.

“Whatever amount of compensation you offer me, I am not interested. Delays in the delivery of raw materials led to the abandonment of project work which led to our deadline also being delayed, resulting in huge losses. And that leaves our customers feeling disappointed. Please just send the remaining raw materials that have not been sent. And for yesterday's case I will go the legal route on the basis of breach of contract.”

Narenda Widjaya. He had even offered Verdi compensation but was immediately rejected without any consideration. Verdi immediately stood up from his seat while glancing at Reina who also stood up.

“Excuse me.” said Verdi left the meeting room followed by Reina who walked behind him. In her heart Reina questioned Verdi's decision which she thought was absurd.

The amount of compensation offered by Narenda is quite large but why did Verdi refuse and instead choose to take a more complicated legal route?

“Pak Verdi! Is there a problem?” ask Verdi when they're in the car.

“Why did you reject Pak Narenda's offer? He had already submitted a fairly large compensation offer.” asked Reina a little hesitantly.

Verdi instead of answering Reina's question, he drove his car without saying a word. After being silent for a few minutes, Verdi finally spoke, “I will never forgive someone who has hurt my loved one!”

“Heh?” Reina glanced at Verdi and felt confused by the man's words.

“Why? Don't think too much about what I said just now!” verdi said without looking at Reina. Half an hour later they arrived at the office. Upon entering the lobby they cross paths with the traitorous couple Bobby and Elora who also just returned from a meeting outside. Verdi invites them to take a special elevator.

Reina scans her ID card as usual and they get into the elevator. Reina stood behind Verdi to start a conversation with Bobby about the termination of the cooperation contract with PT. Ananda Widjaya's.

When the two men were seriously conversing, Elora carelessly shifted and stomped on Reina's feet hard using the pointy heels of her shoes. Reina suddenly grimaced in pain and glanced at Elora with a sharp look at her brother.

Elora smiled cynically and sneered at Reina while saying the word ‘Maaf’ with a scornful and mocking mimic. Reina who was upset was about to reply and lift her left leg but Elora had already moved her leg which made Reina slip and almost fall.

Before Reina's body fell and hit the wall, Verdi's nimbly clasped her waist and Reina's hand gripped Verdi's shoulder making it a grip. In a state of shock the two looked at each other.
