CHAPTER 38. REINA'S EXPLANATION

“Reina...why you--”.

“Ehm. I have nothing to do with Mr. Verdi. I didn't approach her, either, seducing her! I didn't do that!” quickly Reina explained with a frightened expression. He did not want this matter to cause any problems in his relationship with Varen.

Varen did not respond, he looked at Reina straight while raising one eyebrow. He wanted to know how Reina would explain to him the situation he just faced, whether his wife would be honest or lying to keep his feelings.

It was Reina who took a deep breath. There was actually a doubt in Reina's heart to tell her husband but she didn't want any misunderstandings either.

“Begini, it was Mr. Verdi's grandmother who slapped me. She misunderstood me for thinking I was bothering her granddaughter and approached her granddaughter when she wasn't! She called me a cheap woman for flirting with her granddaughter! I've asked Mr. Felix to help me explain to his grandmother to straighten out this misunderstanding but I don't know if it will work or not.”

Again Reina let out a long sigh, “Varen! I'm not interested in any man. Even with Mr. Verdi, our relationship with only our superiors and subordinates is nothing more than that! I never tried to seduce Mr. Verdi or anyone out there. I'm married and have a husband, I promised to remain loyal to my husband. Believe me, even though you and Mr. Verdi look similar but I have absolutely no feelings for him.” Reina said with a serious expression.

Reina tried to explain at length so that there was no misunderstanding between herself and Varen. Varen did not know how to behave, whether he had to laugh because it was funny or disappointed, he was confused by his feelings.

What if Reina really hates Verdi who is also herself? Seeing the way Reina tried so hard to convince her that she only wanted her husband with an adorable facial expression made Varen want to laugh.

“I believe in you. I just want to know why you covered your wound? If I don't see a bruise on your face do you intend to hide it from me? That means you don't trust me?” varen asked, touching his wife's cheek. “You have to tell me anything.”

Reina stammered, “Oh...mmmm! I don't mean to hide from you, but I don't want to worry you! Varen, you're very kind to me and this is just a misunderstanding. I don't want you to feel anxious and ask me to stop working! I don't want that to happen! I need this job because it's a big pay."

“Do not do it again, okay? The wound must be treated instead of covered! Whatever you are going through and what happened to you, you have to tell me because I am your husband and it is my duty to look after and protect you.” Varen said smiling.

“I won't scold you much less ask you to stop working. I'm sorry because I haven't gotten a job until today.”

“It's okay! I told you I don't care if you don't work. I will work hard to make money and open a business after my money is enough. After that I'll stop working and we can both run our businesses. I want to open a small shop or restaurant.”

Varen smiled at Reina's words, she did not expect the woman's mind to have gone that far as to plan. “I bought medicine for a while.” said Varen when the taxi stopped in front of the pharmacy. Reina looked at Varen's back who entered the pharmacy. He felt grateful that Varen was not angry with him.

Reina smiled and then breathed a sigh of relief, it turned out that all her worries did not happen and Varen was not angry at her at all. Reina's eyes were not diverted from the pharmacy entered by her husband, until she saw the man walking out of the pharmacy with plastic in his hand.

“This is taking the drug first.” said Varen offered pain medication and drinking water after Varen returned to the car. It didn't take long after Reina took the medicine, she fell asleep.

Varen looked at Reina who was sleeping soundly beside him. After taking pain medication. Reina was lying with Varen's arm as her head support. Seeing his wife's uncomfortable sleeping position,

Varen shifted her body and pulled Reina into his arms. Reina reflexively wrapped her hands around Varen's waist and lowered her head to the man.

His body stiffened from his wife's embrace but he was trying to gain control. He exhaled his coarse breath then he looked at the driver in front of him.

The man's body immediately stiffened at Varen's question, his back and head suddenly erect and he silenced a thousand languages not answering the question. He looks uncomfortable and restless making Varen confident with his intuition.

“Jawab! Or I'll be mad! If you are honest then I will not be angry.” said Varen.

“Sorry Young Master.” replied Tanta in a voice trembling with fear.

He knew very well how furious his Young Master was if he did not tell the truth. The man can do the unexpected if he's already angry and Tanta doesn't want that to happen.

Varen smiled bitterly, ‘My personal bodyguard only knows that grandma is coming home but I was not even told anything! Why is everyone acting like this to me?’ he murmured in the heart.

Varen felt his chest tight as if there was a big rock propping up inside. His eyes reddened with anger and also disappointment with his grandmother's attitude.

“Did Grandma intentionally send you to spy on me? Is that right, Tanta? He did send you to watch over me and my wife, right?” ask Varen again which makes Tanta stiffen again.

Varen looked at the man's movements through the rearview mirror, he felt even more disappointed because everyone did not think about his feelings.

“Why are you quiet? That means I'm right, right?” ask Varen again in a high voice.

“Sorry Young Master!” tanta said in a soft voice, he felt very guilty to Varen.

Actually he is Varen's bodyguard and there is no intention to betray him but Samara pressured and threatened Tanta which makes him unable to dwell on his wishes.

The answer makes Varen's disappointment even greater, he thought that his grandmother sent Tanta out for caring about him but it turned out to be wrong! The existence of his personal bodyguard was only as a spy to watch over him. Varen guesses that Tanta must have reported everything to his grandmother, including reporting about Reina.

“What have you been reporting to grandma? My wedding? My residence? Or every move of mine and everything related to my wife?” varen's voice asked with high intonation.

Tanta glanced from the rearview mirror in front of him, he saw Varen's sharp eyes on him. Tanta shifted his gaze back to driving focus.

“Not so Young Master. The Big Madam just wants to make sure you're okay. He worries about your life outside.”

“Worry? Hmh! If Grandma was really worried about me, she wouldn't have made my life so hard and so dangling! He won't make me poor and have nothing? Don't ever tell me he's worried and cares about me! Bullshit!”

Varen looked away at the window. “Grandmother just wants to make sure of my suffering and laugh at my choices! He wanted to see me suffer and make me understand that I would not be able to survive without his help! But grandma is wrong big!” varen was full of anger. He recalled going back two months after he married Elora to fulfill his grandfather's will.

After buying the medicine, a taxi drove them to their destination. While the Samara car still followed from a safe distance until the car stopped not far from the house occupied by Varen and Reina. Seeing the old building made Samara frown, her facial expression looked displeased.

‘Basic stupid boy! You sacrificed everything for your grandfather's legacy and that woman? You choose to stay in a place like this?’
