Reina smiled as she approached Varen. Suddenly fear entered his heart. If a mediocre-faced man like Bobby just cornered himself and cheated behind him all this time, let alone the handsome-faced Varen. There are a lot of women who are crazy about him.
“I promise I will try to be a good wife to you! Even though Bobby's shadow still haunts me, I will try to let go and forget about it. But, what can you give me?” reina asked which made Varen stunned.
He looks confused to answer what but soon on his face slanted a smile. “I can't promise you love because I don't have it yet. I can't promise treasure either because I haven't got it yet. I can only promise loyalty, that's all I have right now!” answered Varen.
Reina smiled widely, she was happy to hear Varen's words. It does not matter if there is no love because love can grow by itself. He also did not mind about treasures, as treasures could be sought.
But the promise of loyalty that Varen made felt so beautiful and soothing to her heart. Reina is not the type of woman who is crazy about possessions and materialistic because for her loyalty is more important than others.
“Ppromise to always be faithful. I will not forgive you if you dare to cheat behind my back.” Reina said as she pointed her little finger. Varen also frowned without hesitation.
“A true man will always keep his promise. I promise to always be loyal to you, Reina!”
Reina immediately laughed, her heart was relieved now. Although he lost his family but there is Varen who will accompany him. He didn't care as hard as his life would be, as long as Varen stayed with him then there was nothing Reina was afraid of. Varen gives Reina strength because she knows all the hardships she's been going through.
Varen lifted Reina from her slump, Reina realized that Varen could not give much to her. But Varen's presence and loyalty are more than enough to strengthen Reina's determination to live her life and days ahead.
“Varen, I can't promise love either, I can't promise treasure but I can promise you my loyalty. I promise to always be faithful to accompany you in joy and sorrow. In good health and in pain.” said Reina who was greeted with a warm smile from Varen.
“Let's go. That taxi has come.” said Varen coincided a taxi stop right in front of them. Varen stuffed Reina's suitcase into the trunk and she boarded the taxi. After Varen informs them of their destination address, a taxi drives away from Reina's parents' house.
Reina turned her head towards the house of her parents whom she had lived in for many years. ‘Goodbye to the past! From this day on there will be no more of you in my life forever! I will build a new life with my new husband. I will never look back again.’ murmured in the heart that has now begun to calm down,
A smile appeared on his face, his determination was already unanimous to live his new life with Varen. He will try to organize his life slowly, starting with finding a job as soon as possible.
Reina looked at the old house that stood straight in front of her with a look of fear. After he and Varen leave the Haseena family home, Varen invites him to live in an old house built on the heritage land that Varen will get.
At first, the lawyers did not allow them to use the old house. Because according to his grandfather's will, the land will fall into the hands of Varen after the age of marriage stepped on three months. But Varen urged the lawyer to allow him to occupy the house now.
With a little coercion, the lawyer finally allowed them to live there. Varen noticed Reina's frightened eyes.
“This house is indeed a little terrible because it's an old building. But this house is sturdy and safe. More comfortable living here than having to find a rented house.” said Varen.
Reina also understands Varen's intentions, she knows that neither she nor Varen currently have the money to pay the rent. Reina also strengthened her heart to stay in the old house.
“Maybe we can fix the headlights so that it is not too dark.” said Reina. “Rear light as well, and the middle room light is replaced with a larger one. I'm afraid dark.”
“Tomorrow I'll buy a new lamp. You stay here first, I want to check the state of the room.” said Varen then he walked into the room with a wooden door that also looks creepy.
Reina's feathers goosebumps after Varen's departure. She feels scared alone there but Reina tries to eliminate her fear because this house will be her home and she must feel at home and get used to living there.
Reina walked down the middle of her temp room at this moment. There are some pictures on the walls of the house. The photo looked blurry either because of the lack of lighting or because Reina's eyes were getting sleepy. Reina glanced at her watch which had shown at eleven past twenty minutes of the night.
BRRUUUUU!
There was a sound of falling objects quite loud. Reina immediately ran into the room. He looked at Varen who was curled up on the floor while grimacing in pain. Reina approached her husband and said, “Why did you fall like this?”
Varen shows the stairs lying beside him, “Staircase by.”
Reina grimaced at the stairs and the body of her husband. It must have hurt a lot to fall down a seven-meter-high staircase. Reina's attention also turned to the lamp shell above the nightstand and the small former lamp that Varen held in his hand.
“Why did you change the night-night lights? Can you wait until tomorrow morning? It's almost midnight, youh!” reina said while helping her husband stand up.
She saw a bruise on her husband's hand. Varen's legs also look injured because of the way Varen walked a little limp.
“You said you were afraid of the dark! So I changed the lights. Can you help bring this ladder out?” Varen raised the folding ladder he had just used.
Reina immediately helped Varen by lifting the other side of the stairs. They both took out the stairs through the door of the room that was connected directly to the courtyard.
After the stairs were placed outside, they went back into the room and locked the door from the inside. “You rest first. Let me bring in the stuff.” said Varen as he exited the room. Reina smilingly looked at Varen's missing back behind the door.
It turns out that Varen's attitude isn't as cold as it seems. Even though his attitude looks indifferent. But in reality he's a pretty sensitive and considerate person. Not long after, Varen re-entered the room while carrying two suitcases in his hand.
“Why not sleep yet?” tanyakanya.
“I'm confused where to sleep. I mean, we're married. But...I doubt whether our marriage is legal or not.” replied Reina who made Varen to link her eyebrows.
“What do you mean?” ask Varen.
