Not the Perfect Wife
308. S2 - Papa Hamdan is dead

"Honey," called a woman who had just come with her husband.

"Mother" said Afrin, who immediately hugged Yasna and shed her tears. He had already arrested all. Afrin doesn't want her in-laws to feel down because she's trying to look okay.

"How is Mr. Hamdan, Mrs Merry?" emran asked as soon as they got close.

"Still don't know, Mr. Emran. The doctor is still examining her inside" replied Merry, who was still crying.

"We'd better sit down, let's calm down" Yasna asked.

They sat in the seats available there. Only Emran is still standing. The man noticed the princess and her iron was not okay. While the man who should be in charge does not show the trunk of his nose.

"Where to the road?" ask Emran.

"I've contacted him, but I haven't been picked up" Afrin replied.

"Maybe he still wants to spend time with his mother" murmured Merry who could still be heard by everyone.

Yasna understands now. It is only fitting that Afrin contact his papa because at this time, there are no men who can be used as a backup. The woman did not stop thinking about her daughter-in-law. Is that as busy as he is with his mother and sister, so there is no time to just pick up a call from his wife?

"Is the administration taken care of?" ask Emran.

"Already, Pa. Fortunately, I had a bag with me" replied Afrin.

"Thank you, Frin. Mama didn't want to talk about it" said Mama Merry.

"It's okay, Ma."

They fell silent again, waiting for the door in front to open. Time seemed to play with the anxiety and tension that everyone felt now. Merry was eager to shout for doctors and nurses to do their job immediately.

"Why are they so long? Did something happen to papa?" Merry's crying broke. He couldn't wait like this.

Afrin let go of her mother's embrace and looked at Mama Merry. She clasped her in-laws' hands, hoping to reduce the anxiety the woman was feeling. Afrin is equally tense.

"Mama, don't talk like that. Let's just pray that papa's okay."

"You saw for yourself, didn't you, how papa was! He did not want to open his eyes at all. Mama was afraid, Mama—" Merry could not continue his words.

Afrin did not know what to say. His body is still shaking too. Only this time did he experience this kind of thing and he had to take responsibility for this incident. Because right now in her family only that woman exists.

Suddenly the doctor came out of the ICU. His eyes seemed to be regretting. Afrin's heart can't be friends anymore. He knew he would get some bad news this time. Everyone approached him, wanting to know Hamdan's state.

"How's my husband doing, Doc?" ask Merry.

The doctor sighed before replying, "I'm sorry, Mom. We have tried our best, but destiny says something else. God loves him more."

"A–what is ma–meaning, Doctor? I don't understand." Merry quite understood the meaning of the doctor's words. It was just that his soul did not receive the news.

"Sir Hamdan died ten minutes ago, Madam. Aswell"

Not yet finished the doctor spoke, Merry's body had already slumped to the ground and was unconscious. Afrin was hysterical, one side of her father-in-law had died and now her mother-in-law was unconscious.

"Mama! Ma, wake. Don't scare me" Afrin choked with tears. "Mother, how is this?" ask Afrin to Yasna.

Other than the doctor there's only Emran who's the man there. The man looked at his wife as if asking for permission to lift another woman's body. Yasna who understood also nodded. They followed the doctor's steps and took Merry to a room.

The doctor examined Merry closely and said, "He's fine, he's just in shock. I'll wake up soon. Regarding the body of Mr. Hamdan, it should be taken care of immediately. Pity if left too long."

"Yes, Doc. Thank you," said Emran.

"I'm sorry then" said the doctor, whom Emran was referring to.

The doctor left the room. Emran also said to immediately complete all the needs of the return of the body. Afrin is very grateful to her papa who is willing to come at a time like this.

"Frin, call your husband, who knows he's not busy" said Yasna, who was adopted by her daughter.

Inwardly, Afrin was furious at her husband. At a time like this, why doesn't he exist? Where are your responsibilities as a child and husband? The woman did not blame Bu Nur and Laily because they knew nothing, but Khairi should know her responsibility and be able to split the time.

Afrin tried to contact her husband again. Just like before, there was no answer at all. He also chose to contact Ivan, so that the secretary was the only one looking for the whereabouts of his superiors. The woman was already quite dizzy with the situation here.

Not long after, Mama Merry woke up. The woman was immediately hysterical when she remembered that her husband was now dead. Many times he beat his chest to reduce the tightness felt. However, instead of improving his heart just getting sicker.

Afrin immediately hugged her in-laws. The woman couldn't see how devastated Mama Merry was. He could feel how his in-laws felt now. Losing someone who has been with him for years. There must be a lot of memories stored in their hearts, be it good or bad.

"Father! Why did papa leave Mama! How could you live without Papa!" shout Merry. He repeatedly shouted the same sentence until he was unconscious again.

Afrin is feeling useless. She should have tried to make her in-laws sincere, instead of crying.

"Ma, don't be like this. Mama has to be strong" whispered Afrin who has definitely not heard Merry.

Khairi was still in confusion looking around. Suddenly his phone rang, the man immediately picked it up on the side chair. Ivan's name is there.

"Hello, assalamualaikum" said Afrin.

"Br****ek, where are you? Why not pick up the call?" ivan spoke without answering his greetings.

"You're nothing, anyway, the new phone has been furious. Do not answer greetings again," muttered Khairi who actually made Ivan grow furious.

"Better to see the phone first. I don't have time to serve you." Ivan decided on a unilateral call.

Khairi frowned hearing his assistant speak. He felt strange at Ivan's words. The man immediately checked his phone.

There were a hundred more missed calls and dozens of messages from his wife, Ivan, Mama Merry and Papa Emran. Khairi was more interested in the message from Afrin. He read the messages one by one, until the last sentence made the man accidentally drop his phone.

Everything was like a dream for him. The hand he used to take back his phone and read messages from everyone. All the messages were the same, saying that Papa Hamdan had breathed his last.
