Not the Perfect Wife

Not the Perfect Wife
309. S2 - Try to be okay

Khairi drove his car at high speed. Several times it almost hit other road users. On the way he tried to contact Afrin. Unfortunately the woman's phone is not active because it runs out of battery. He also contacted Emran.

The man asked his in-laws about the state of his papa and Emran confirmed the news. Khairi could not hold back her tears anymore. He asked where the hospital was and immediately slid there. The man cursed his stupidity for leaving the phone in the car.

Khairi's tears are getting worse. Her guilt is so great because lately she has not paid much attention to her papa's health. The man recalled the conversation with Afrin last night. It should have been this morning Khairi took his time for Hamdan, but—

Everyone has passed, regret is useless. He should have listened to the warning from his wife. If only time could be repeated.

As soon as he arrived at the hospital, he ran to find his family. Even the man did not park his car properly. Khairi asked the receptionist and several nurses who passed her in the corridor. Until he arrived in front of a room where his mother fainted.

A nurse told her Mama Merry had fainted several times. The man felt even more guilty because at times like this Khairi was not beside his family.

"Why are you standing here? Why not come in?" papa Emran's. "Come on!"

They're coming in soon. There's Mother Yasna there. Khairi moved his legs heavily. Between shame and guilt. Her father-in-law had come, but she was not there.

Mama Merry is conscious. She is no longer crying. His eyes were still puffy and slightly swollen, but that was not the concern. The woman's gaze was blank, she was always looking ahead like a daydreaming person. Even when Khairi entered Merry did not turn his head at all.

"It's all done, soon the body will be brought home. Does Miss Merry want to join the hearse? Or want to take a car?" ask Emran.

Silence ...everyone is waiting for an answer from the woman. They could see how broken the woman was.

"I want to go with my husband" Merry replied in a hoarse voice without looking at Emran.

Although it is not the answer that Emran wants, the therapy he assures. He doesn't want to talk about it at a time like this. It must be that the iron is not fully conscious.

"I'll accompany my mom, Pa," interrupted Emran's Afrin.

"Yes, come on, let's get out!"

Afrin also helped the in-laws to get out of bed and walk. The woman did not greet her husband, not even seeing. He was still very upset, but this was not the time.

"Let me help" said Khairi. However, no one responded at all. Khairi still helps to reach his mother even though there is no response.

The car is ready, the body is already included. Waiting for the family who wants to come. Mama Merry and Afrin sit next to the coffin accompanied by a nurse. Khairi was sitting next to the driver after being banned by officers when he wanted to come in behind.

Throughout the journey Mama Merry just silent as her hand rubbed the coffin in front of her. Afrin rubbed both of her in-laws' shoulders while occasionally hugging from the side. He felt hurt seeing the middle-aged woman like this. It's better to get a cynical remark from Merry than to see it like this.

The car finally arrived at the Hamdan family residence. There was Ivan, Rani and other relatives. There were also some officers coming. Wreaths of flowers of bela sungkawa filled the courtyard. There's also on the side of the road.

After the corpse entered the house, Merry sat beside him. The woman did not want to be far from her husband. Afrin had asked the woman to change clothes, but her in-laws refused. She asks Fatma to get a veil for Merry.

"You can help accompany Mama for a moment. I want to change my clothes first" Afrin ordered by Fatma.

The woman immediately went to her room and changed clothes quickly. He also took ablution water in order to teach in front of the corpse. When Afrin returned, the woman did not discover the whereabouts of her in-laws. He was so worried that something happened that Afrin saw Merry coming out of the room with Fatma.

"Sorry, Mama worries you" Merry said, as if knowing how her daughter-in-law feels. "Mama just change clothes and take ablution water so you can teach papa," he continued.

"Yes, Ma. Come on, let's get together."

"Mom, Brother Khairi sent a message, he said his father died" Laily said in a trembling voice.

The broom in Bu Nur's hand just crashed. He was really surprised to hear that. Just yesterday the man came here in fine condition, but why did he suddenly die now?

The woman recalled her last words that forbade Hamdan from coming here too often. Yesterday was the last time the man came. Guilt suddenly came to his heart. However, there was really no intention to ban it completely.

"Mom, am I a bad boy for not forgiving papa? He came to apologize, but I ignored him. Now he's dead. I can no longer see and talk to him." Laily's voice sounded hoarse. She wants to cry. However, stuck in the throat.

Nur understood how his daughter felt. He also did not expect that Hamdan would leave so soon. The woman knew that her ex-husband had a history of illness, but Nur did not think so far.

"Although papa is dead, if your heart has forgiven him, that is enough. We go now to prayer, we also need to apologize" said Merry.

"Do you know her home address?" ask Laily.

"You just ask your brother and we'll go there by taxi."

Laily picks up her phone and sends Khairi a message asking for her home address. After getting a reply, the two women immediately prepared to go to the funeral home. They took a taxi that was booked in advance.

Inwardly, Nur prayed that his arrival would not invite trouble. He just wanted to do nothing, no other purpose. Hopefully Merry also has no problem with his arrival. Considering their recent encounter which was not good.

The taxi had stopped a bit away from Hamdan's house. Laily and her mother descend and walk towards the house that once made Nur a son-in-law. Now he is back again for a different business with the Princess of the owner of this house.

Each step of the woman reminds her of the past. Her eyes began to heat up, but Nur tried to look mediocre. Until they arrived at the terrace of the house.
