Not the Perfect Wife

Not the Perfect Wife
312. S2 - Pamit goes

Seven days has been the tahlilan event. Many came to pray for Papa Hamdan. During that time also Bu Nur and Laily always came, but did not greet Merry at all. because the woman always entered her room after the tahlilan event was completed.

In the morning, Merry put clothes in a suitcase. He wants to leave this house. The woman had thought of everything carefully. Merry knows her status that only mom connects with. Now there was no longer any reason to keep him here.

Hamdan is gone. There is so much she wants to forget, her sadness, her heartache, and so much more. He wanted to calm his heart there.

The door was knocked by someone from the outside, and Merry opened it. Turns out Fatma, she said if breakfast was ready and asked the woman to come down immediately. By the time Merry reached the dining room, Khairi was already waiting there. While Afrin still arrange all the dishes.

"Good morning" Merry said with a smile.

"Morning, Ma" Khairi and Afrin said.

Afrin took food for her husband and father-in-law. Merry just kept quiet. He let the son-in-law serve him one last time, before the woman left.

"Please, Ma."

"Thank you" said Merry. "After eating, there's something you want to say."

"What, Ma?" ask the curious Khairi.

"Later after eating."

They continued their lunch quietly. Merry sighed occasionally. For years he lived in this house. However, today the woman had to give up the status of the mistress she held. The corner of his heart was not willing, but he had to do it.

After they finished eating, they were still sitting in the dining room waiting for Mama Merry to speak. For a few minutes, no words were said.

"Ma, did he say he wanted to talk?" ask the impatient Khairi.

"Yes" answered Merry. "Look, Mama has decided to stay at grandma's house outside the city. Mama hope you don't mind."

Khairi and Afrin were both shocked to hear it. Merry's grandmother was her dead mother. However, his house was empty no one occupied. Her sister prefers to hang out with her husband rather than live in the village.

"Why should you stay at grandma's? Why not here? I'll be lonely. If there's Mama, we can tell you a lot of things" Afrin said with teary eyes.

"Yes, Ma. Why not just stay here? Is this all because of my attitude yesterday? I promise to change, but I beg you, Mama don't go" Khairi said.

Merry looked at the child and his daughter-in-law with a smile. He was glad they were still attentive, but his determination was already unanimous. The woman will still go. Merry also needs to calm her heart and mind. The woman had not been completely sincere with the fate that befell her.

"Mama's departure has nothing to do with you. Mom just wants to live quietly. If you are still here, you will always remember the memories with your father. Decades of Mama with him, it's not easy to forget all our memories. Moreover, every corner of this house always has a shadow," said Merry unconsciously had shed tears because he remembered his past memories.

Khairi and Afrin looked at each other. Now they understand the reason for Mama Merry's departure. It is not easy to forget the memories of being with the people we love. Inevitably the two had to sincerely take off the middle-aged woman to leave.

"If Mama had been sure to leave, I wouldn't have prevented it anymore. Every day my mother told us. Mama can also return to this house if it is ready," said Afrin with a smile and tears.

"You can ask Nur to stay here with you. He definitely doesn't mind."

"As far as you guys are ... Khairi, Mama wants to meet Nur. Mama can meet him for a minute."

Khairi is confused as to what to answer. She didn't mind it, but she was afraid that Mama Merry would say something that would hurt her mother. However, the man could not possibly ban his mother. Just wanted to meet, there seemed to be no problem.

"Yes, Ma. When will you be delivered?"

"Now only. After this, in two hours Mama's plane takes off."

"So Mama left today too? Why so suddenly? Why not tomorrow?" ask Afrin.

"Mama has already missed her hometown. It hasn't been there for a long time."

"Let me send people there first, Ma, make Grandma's house clean. The house has not been in habitation for a long time must be dirty," sidelines Khairi.

"No need, Mama can clean up on her own."

Khairi did not care about Merry's refusal. He kept contacting his men and asked someone to clean up his grandmother's house outside the city. The man also allowed his men to bring in locksmiths in order to open the house.

Khairi and Afrin drove her mother to the apartment where Bu Nur and Laily lived. Merry also brought a suitcase and some documents that if needed later. Afrin asked Khairi for permission to sit in the back with her in-laws. The man allowed it too.

During the trip the two women talked a lot. Merry also advises her son and daughter-in-law to understand and understand each other. The woman also prayed that the two would always be together until death separated. Khairi and Afrin agreed to all the advice given by Merry.

They finally arrived at the apartment. Khairi led the way, the two women walking behind him. The man knocked on the door that Laily finally opened.

"Sister, please come in" said Laily.

Everyone came in and sat in the living room waiting for Laily to call his mother. Not long Nur came out and shook his iron. Khairi and Afrin kissed the back of the woman's hand.

Silence ... no one spoke. Suddenly the atmosphere became cold. Don't know what to say. They were confused to start the conversation.

"I came here to apologize to you. On behalf of my late husband and myself. We made a mistake with you and your daughter. Sorry for our last conversation. I say that because I'm a wife who wants to keep a husband" Merry told Nur.

"Sir, there's no need to apologize. I was wrong too. I should have also tried to help Hamdan to get close to Laily, not to forbid him from coming" Nur said.

"I know why you talk like that. Hamdan also understands your situation so, there's no need to feel guilty. I also want to leave, I'll stay at my parents' house first. I want a quiet life there with no past."

As a fellow woman Nur understood Merry's feelings. He used to do the same thing when he parted with Hamdan. The difference is now that they separated because of death, unlike him who was because of slander.
