Chapter 24

Adi who was meeting in the office with the board of directors was very surprised, when Johan told him that Helen was rushed to the hospital because of bleeding, Linda who had called him. After coordinating with Johan, Adi immediately left the meeting room and instructed Johan to take his place.

By driving a car driven by Karno, Adi asked him directly to be transferred to Pondok Indah hospital. His mind was completely stifled, he did not dare to guess what had happened. Because this is the third time he went to the hospital because of the condition of Helen's womb.

Arriving at the IGD room, Adi was surprised to see his mother and Gilang waiting in front of the ICU room. He quickly approached the two. A pile of questions was ready to throw at his mother. Fear attacks Adi. He did not want anything bad to happen to Helen and the prospective baby he really hoped for.

“What happened mama?” Adi immediately sat next to Linda who was still staring rigidly into the room where Helen was now being treated by the doctors.

Linda did not answer. He turned his eyes to Gilang who felt wrong, and did not know what to say. Adi became angry, because the two kept quiet. His mind wandered far away, imagining a fetus in Helen's womb.

Soon a female doctor who used to handle Helen came out of the ICU room. Adi knew him well, his name was Sarinah because they consulted several times with an obstetrician who was the same age as Helen and Helen's college friend while at Ausie, but different faculties.

“Mr Tama, I need to talk to you.” Said dr. Sarinah while hinting for Adi to immediately follow her into the room.

With a thumping feeling Adi followed Sari's steps and entered her practice room to find out information about Helen's state.

“I'm sorry. Helen had a miscarriage. And he has been sentenced not to be able to have another child for the rest of his life.”

“Darr!” as if lightning was ringing in broad daylight, Adi was surprised to hear the words of dr. Sarinah about her wife's condition. What's he supposed to do? What would her mother think if she knew Helen's condition?

Dr. Sari wrote in a notebook located on her desk. After he finished, he closed the book, then let out a long sigh. He wanted to tell his friend's husband a lot. So many secrets that he kept and he covered because he appreciated Helen as his closest person. But this time he would tell Adi the truth. Because he knew how Adi and Linda really wanted a granddaughter from Helen.

“Tuan Aditama..” dr. Sari began to look at Adi with a raging feeling. “Pardon us, for not being able to sustain the fetus that Helen was conceived with. The uterus is already deformed, so even if there is a pregnancy but the fetus will not be able to last long. And this is the third time Helen was pregnant under normal circumstances but had a miscarriage.”

“So you mean Helen won't be able to get pregnant again?” Adi wants to clarify dr .Sarinah. He did not want to be swayed in uncertainty to await the birth of a child from Helen's womb.

Dr. Sarinah looked back at Adi with raging feelings, “Actually I wanted to say this a long time ago, but given my friendship with Helen, I was forced to hide this truth from you.”

He looked at dr. Sarinah with clueless look, “Explain everything, doctor. I will receive everything with a chest roomy.”

“Rahim Helen was disabled due to a mistake she made in the past.” dr. Sarinah said softly. During this time Helen asked her to hide the fact about the risks of pregnancy that she experienced to anyone, except to dr. Sarinah who happens to be the doctor who handled her pregnancy from the beginning.

“What does the doctor mean? What mistakes did Helen make in the past?” Adi's forehead was wrinkled to hear dr. Sarinah. He did not want any lies in the household that he lived. He had made a fatal mistake.

“Helen has had abortions 2 times, the first when she was in 1st grade of High School and the second when she was in college. Illegal abortions that occur in recent times cause injuries and even defects in the uterus. This is what happened to Helen. We've never made a deep observation, because Helen refused to do that.”

Adi was flabbergasted in disbelief. His chest was like being hit by millions of arrows that made him shatter instantly. Helen had an abortion at the age of 16. While he did the first time at the farewell party High School.

Adi's memory wanders into the past. That night after attending a breakup at 68th High School in a four-star hotel, Helen invites her to stop by Helen's apartment. Adi who adored him so much obeyed the wishes of his lover. After drinking the orange water served Helen a hot feeling immediately ambushed Adi's body.

Without thinking long, Adi indulged in the lust that stirred in his young soul. Erotic whispers full of passion makes his young blood roiled quickly, until finally the forbidden act he did first with Helen.

When the next morning woke up, Adi was surprised, because he was still in Helen's apartment and his condition was plain without being covered by a sheet of yarn. He heard a soft cry beside him. Adi looked at the corner of the mattress, looking as if Helen was crying sobbing covering herself with a blanket. Red patches were clearly drawn on the blankets covering Helen's plain body.

“I'm sorry.” Adi held Helen's body into her arms. He realized that his deeds had made the precious crown of a girl usurped, “I will be responsible, and will not leave you. Because I took your precious crown.” Adi kissed Helen's forehead feelingly. And he felt both proud and happy to be the first man in Helen's life.

“Master Aditama..”

Long daydream Adi crashed hearing the call of dr. Sarinah. It becomes a miracle, “I'm sorry doctor.” Adi turned his eyes to his wife's friend. He doesn't know what to say right now. His mind is completely dead-end. The painful truth he just found out. Then Helen kept this secret for 20 years. While he adored Helen so much because he believed he was the first man in his wife's life.

“Please entertain your wife. Don't let him grieve too deeply. The third loss will have an effect on his psychology. I know you love Helen. Help him through this difficult time.”

“Yes, Allah. Is this karma because I wasted my son and accused Hani of cheating?” Adi was helpless in the front seat of Helen's room. He brushed his hair rough. What lies Helen had hidden.

“Tama...” Gilang sat beside him feeling guilty. “I'm sorry for what happened to Helen.”

“What do you mean?” Adi looked at Gilang with a look of confusion. His mind was in a frenzy, so he couldn't think of anything else.

“Tante Linda has misunderstood both of us. Helen and I accidentally met at the mall, and I practiced drinking, until my aunt accused me of Helen playing behind you. When Helen wanted to chase aunty, she slipped because she hit a lori.”

Adi stunned. His brain thinks fast. There is no way her mother accuses people haphazardly, but considering Linda's actions against Hani and her children made Adi again weak, “Had it been. Its alright. I'm grateful you brought Helen here quickly.”

Gilang just nodded back Adi's words. “Alright, excuse me, say hello to Helen. Hopefully he recovers soon.”

“Thanks, Lang.” Adi let Gilang pass from before him. He was still sitting in the waiting chair in front of the room. Her heart was too sick to know the truth that she was not the first in Helen's heart. Even Helen had twice had an abortion because of her forbidden relationship with another man. And even more painful, Helen could no longer give her a child.

“Arg...” Adi squeezed his face roughly.  He was upset and wanted to vent his anger. He didn't know what to say when Helen opened her eyes. He hated the lies Helen had invented.

Later, Linda comes along with Johan. He saw how apprehensive the situation of the only son he had always been proud of. Slowly he sat down beside Adi.

“Eat first. It's three in the afternoon. You've missed lunch.” Linda said softly. He felt sad to see Adi who looked tangled, “Johan has also taken your change of clothes. Clean yourself up.” immediately

“I'll change clothes after Helen moves room.” Adi. “Mama wait here, I want to talk to Johan.” Adi beckoned Johan through the glint of her eyes to immediately follow her.

After taking care of Helen's move to the VVIP room, Adi and Johan continue their steps to the cafeteria at the hospital.

“What happened sir?” Johan broke the silence that had been created after they sat in the cafeteria which still seemed empty, only he and Adi were there.

Johan saw Adi's face looked grim. The anger is clearly there. His handbooks clenched the glass firmly, as if wanting to break the glass that was now within his grasp.

“Now God has punished me. Helen won't be able to give birth to any of my offspring.”

“Meanour?” Johan still does not understand Adi's enigmatic talk. He looked at Adi's face which seemed to be holding back anger. Jemari Adi clenched tightly, and Johan saw that clearly.

“Before coming into contact with me she had a lover, and had abortions twice, so her uterus was deformed. Every time she gets pregnant she will always miscarry. Her uterus is not strong and she will not be able to give birth to a child until anytime.”

“Gosh...” Johan was aghast at Adi's words. Again he recalled Hanif's remark about happiness that they would not meet during his life.

“Now I have no hope of Helen. He has killed all my dreams and dreams of having a child from his womb.” Adi looked at Johan with a dead red face. “You know Jo, when dr. Sarinah told me this, it felt like my struggle all this time was just in vain. For whom I enlarged the company, to make it number one in the country, if the offspring I hoped would be my successor would never exist.”.

Johan was silent to Adi's complaint. How not, Adi and his mother have been proud of Helen who will give birth to the successor of their company and become the only crown prince of Aditama Prayoga's business that has been patronized. But reality has slashed Aditama's trust to its roots.

Johan looked at his boss's face with concern. Perhaps the sins of Adi and her mother and Helen were too great for Hani and her children, so the Lord paid back their deeds more painfully. But Johan did not dare to convict, everything has become the decree of the Almighty, He who gives the test of both pleasure and distress, He also punishes if His servant makes a mistake.

“I'm sorry Sir. May you and your family be able to face this disaster.” That's all Johan can say. Frankly, he felt sad over the events that happened to Adi, but he could not do anything.
