Eva and Diana were directed to the guest room. While Fram left the palace and returned to his home.
While in the room, Eva was bored. So she decided to sneak in while Diana was busy feeding Evan milk.
He went around the palace with Rexus and found a very beautiful courtyard in the middle of the palace. And there she meets an elf girl named Lena, who is Ren's step-sister. Lena is one of the antagonists, just like her.
Ren then appears as well and Eva's escape is caught off guard.
***
Ren tries to calm Lena down, as the little girl keeps clinging and whining to her.
"Calm down. After this I'll see you" Ren said tiredly.
"No! Don't go anywhere! Accompany me!" Lena's not gonna lose. She hugged Ren tightly, not letting him loose at all.
"Lena!" Ren snapped at her in a serious tone.
The atmosphere became tense in an instant due to Ren's clasping. Lena froze for a moment too. He didn't want his brother to be angry. But her brother will be gone again now. They only met for a few minutes. She misses him so much. He wants to spend time with her.
Seeing Lena's sad face, Ren sighed. "I'll go to your room later, okay?" he said in a soft tone.
"Em" Lena nodded obediently and released her embrace. But his eyes were glazed over as it held back the crying. She knew Ren was angry so she was unwilling to worsen her mood by crying.
"Eva, let's go back" Ren directly held Eva's arm and pulled her away. She does so because she does not want Eva to disappear again as she takes her back to the room.
But Ren's attitude stirs up a fire of jealousy in Lena's heart. Lena's face turned ugly when she saw Ren holding Eva's hand. Even when the two men started to leave. Lena was still staring at Eva's back with a hateful look.
Ren pulled me back. When I left, the hallway felt long. But when I came back, this hallway felt short. I actually went back to the room in no time.
When we entered, Diana was already waiting for me and she immediately approached me with bulging eyes.
"Where have you been, Eva? You didn't sneak away just like that, did you?" Diana said coldly.
I rarely see Diana getting angry. So I'm a little freaked out right now. This was probably Diana's first anger at me in my entire life. For fifteen years of living in this world, I have never seen Diana speak to me that cold.
"Sorry.." I lowered my head, sorry.
"Why did you suddenly disappear like that? I'm really worried to know. You didn't even tell me anything when it came out" Diana's anger didn't subside.
In Diana's memories, this palace was a very bad place. Diana knew that the elves hated humans very much. And they may hurt humans unconsciously. Only Ren made Diana feel safe in this place. But not for the other elves. They were all very scary to Diana. So Diana really panicked when Eva disappeared. She was afraid that her daughter would get into trouble and get hurt.
"I'm sorry.I won't do anything like that again." I said softly. Now, I will not sneak out again secretly in a foreign place. Diana was very scary when she was angry. Even worse than Duke.
"Ren, thank you for picking her up" Diana said later. His tone and expression had returned to normal.
"No problem "Ren replied. She would not defend Eva even if Diana scolded her. Because this time Eva was guilty of sneaking out like that and making everyone worry.
"He's asleep" Diana replied later. Diana was no longer angry. She is the kind of woman who does not get angry easily. But when he was angry, he was very scary.
I smiled happily at Diana's normal response. "He has to sleep a lot because he still needs to grow" I commented.
"You also still need to grow Eva" Diana said later. He looked at Eva with sad eyes. "Don't get involved too often such dangers are okay" he said expectantly.
His daughter is always in danger. Diana knew that. Therefore he was furious when he found out Eva sneaked out secretly.
"I'll take care of myself. Don't worry mom"
"Then Ren, how? When will we meet Emerta?" Diana looked at Ren. The topic immediately changed.
"I'll accompany you to see him tonight. As far as I know, the woman works in the lab. So we'll be there after dinner" Ren explained.
Diana smiled brightly with sparkling eyes. "This is my meeting with him after all this time. I was really impatient with his expression when I saw Eva and Evan. The old woman did not even know that she had a beautiful and handsome granddaughter since she broke the communication rope" Diana grumbled.
"Maybe he's busy? Like her she was researching something and I had absolutely no idea what it was" Ren gave an opinion. His research is complete, meaning Emerta's job to help him is also complete. But the woman decided to stay in the lab and research something else.
"Stay away! Even if he's busy he shouldn't have decided on a letter I sent like that. He just needs a minute to write a letter. But he simply cannot take your time" Diana said scowlingly.
Ren did not respond to her. He did not want to get too involved with other people's family affairs. He would allow Diana and Emerta to address their issues personally. Ren's job is to help them. After that, the task is done.
Ren resigned himself to return. I'm sure he went to see Lena because he wanted to comfort the angry little girl. Ren said he'd be here again tonight.
Time passed too. I spend my time reading books. Diana had been asleep for a few hours. It looks like he's exhausted from continuing to take care of Evan, so I didn't build him up.
But, Evan woke up now. Surprisingly, the baby did not cry. I went up to him and looked at him closely out of curiosity. We exchanged looks.
"Yaya ya" Evan muttered indistinctly while pulling my hair. I don't mind that because it doesn't hurt at all.
"Evan, do you want to read a book?" I asked while showing the buki I read. Honestly, deep down, I wish Evan was a reincarnator. Just like me. Because for a baby her age, she's pretty smart. So I really hope.
I took out the basic magic book from my space and gave it to Evan. When I was his age, I was already interested in the magic I read from books. I even started meditating.
But my hope became lost when I saw Evan bite through the book enthusiastically. He's just a normal baby. How can I expect him to be a reincarnator? My imagination is too high.
"I'm a bad brother." I muttered as I took the book back from Evan.
"Evan's hungry?" I asked gently while touching the soft cheek of his bread.
"Yeah yeah" Evan responded.
"Mother is sleeping now. She's exhausted. So don't cry. When you wake up, Evan can eat okay." I persuaded him. This is the dumbest thing I've ever done. How could I possibly talk to a baby like that? The baby will not understand my words.
I'm willing to interrupt Evan and refocus on the book I read. Fortunately, Evan was not fussy at all. He only let out his obscure lisp chatter while moving his hands and feet. But she didn't cry at all.
