Chapter 6 Emerta 2
Previous story:
The poison case was completed, although it was not fully resolved. Eva and Diana continued their dinner after the incident.
Then Ren drove them to the lab to see Emerta. This was the first time they had seen the laboratory in the elf palace. It turns out that the location of the building is separate from the main building and very remote. They entered the laboratory, then headed for the research room.
Inside the research room were three humans. One of them is Emerta. Emerta is an adult woman with purple hair and gold-colored pupils, making her appearance very striking.
Finally the reunion happened. Ren decides to leave because he doesn't want to disturb the family's meeting. This is the first time Eva and Emerta have met. She was his grandmother.

"Grandma, are you crying?" I looked at him worried.
Emerta gently patted Eva's hair. "No, I won't cry anymore after this" Emerta replied as she wiped away her tears.
I also started to let go of my embrace. But suddenly Emerta lowered her body, so that my eyes were level with her eyes.
"You're so pretty" Emerta praised.
My face immediately flushed in embarrassment.
"Like a doll." Emerta continued. "But it looks very fragile. It's like you're carrying a lot of weight on your shoulders"
I jerked. My ugly face disappeared in an instant. Our eyes were fixed at a very close distance.
Emerta's golden eyes felt very alluring. Those golden eyes sucked me. Unknowingly, I felt like I was naked. All my secrets are exposed and I don't know why I feel that way. But I'm very uncomfortable with that feeling.
Emerta smiled and rubbed my cheeks with both of her hands. "Why are you looking at me like that, my dear Eva? I won't do you any harm" his tone softened.
"No.." I answered awkwardly.
Emerta stood to his original position. "I'm sure you'll tell me one day. I won't force you" he said later.
I was getting uncomfortable after hearing it. Did Emerta know my secret? But what is it? I have absolutely no idea what Emerta knows about me. But I'm really uncomfortable when someone secretly knows my secret.
Diana simply stared at the two people with a puzzled face. He doesn't understand what they're talking about. But he's not interested in finding out more.
Emerta turned to look at Evan who was asleep in Diana's arms.
"He's a funny kid. When he grows up he will be like you" he said affectionately.
"I didn't expect that I was still given the chance to meet my two grandchildren" she said with a sad expression.
"Mother! What are you talking about!" Diana snapped at him with a sullen face. "You're still very young and healthy. What do you mean by that" Diana didn't like to hear that. It is as if Emerta will go far in the near future.
Diana's right. Emerta still looks very young. If he stood with Diana, others might think they were brother and sister. Perhaps because he was an artificial man, he did not age at all. Why did he say as if he was going to die? I don't get it.
"You're right. I will live a long time" Emerta said. "I still want to see Eva and Evan grow up"
Emerta told us to sit in a chair in the corner of the room. As if it had been prepared in advance, there were three chairs and a round table there. There were even three cups of tea on the table as well.
"Mother, did Ren tell you about our arrival?" Diana asked as she sipped her tea.
Emerta nodded. "He just told everyone in the lab that there were guests for me. But I never expected that it was you guys. Moreover, the distance traveled is very far"
"Oh? He's driving you with a magic circle?" Emerta made an interested face.
Diana nodded.
Diana and Emerta continued to speak. I focused on the tea in front of me. Not that I feel suspicious. But this tea is very strange. As I drank it, I felt the darkness within my body churn. It was as if they had suddenly awakened. But the sensation was only a moment before it subsided again. I'm sure this is no ordinary tea. I was really curious how Emerta made this kind of tea. I wanted to ask Emerta for this tea recipe.
"Mother, why do you keep being in this place? Ren said you were researching something seriously. What'sthat?"
Emerta gasped for a bit before she finally opened her mouth. "I researched how to be a whole person." she replied with a sad smile.
Uh! I was a little surprised when I heard it. That's why Emerta is able to express himself now, not like a robot anymore. Is it because of his research? Research what he did to take years like that.
Diana tilted her head, not understanding. "What does that mean?" He asked with a plain expression.
Diana never knew that Emerta was an artificial man. And Emerta probably won't tell him either.
"I just love this place. As for who I am" Emerta replied. She would never tell Diana of her origin.
"Oh..." Diana tried to understand. But he doesn't understand at all. She thought her mother did like to research and dedicate her life to it.
"Then why don't you return my letter?" Diana looked at Emerta seriously. There was a hint of sadness implied in his eyes.
"I'm busy." replied Emerta awkwardly.
Diana snorted in annoyance. "Whatever busy you are, how can you ignore me mother?" Diana protest. "You know, I'm really worried about you! I think something's happened to you. I thought you were dead by the elf palace. I thought you threw me away." The tone got smaller and it sounded sad.
"I would never do that" Emerta replied with a serious face. She held Diana's hand to try to calm her down.
"I'm sorry, I'll never do anything like that again..."
Emerta is actually lying. She could not reply to the letter from Diana because she could not. He did some research on a herb that could restore his human emotions. But while drinking the potion, he fell asleep for several years. In his sleep, he kept dreaming about his past. Emerta thought he would never wake up. But destiny says something else. She woke up shortly before Diana visited.
To be honest Emerta is very happy with that destiny. Emerta was very grateful to old man Jin who had been keeping his body healthy. Although he still has difficulty fighting or working too hard because his body muscles are too weak. He can still walk and move normally.
Emerta did not want to tell all these things to her daughter and granddaughter. She tried to keep her own because she didn't want them to worry.
"Don't apologize. Mother is innocent. I was a little emotional. I'm sorry" said Diana. The mother and daughter both apologized for feeling guilty about each other.
"Mother, do you want to come back with me? It would be more fun if my mom stayed with us. After all, I've been doing that research for a long time" Diana tried to persuade Emerta to stay with them. "We have Eva and Evan here. We can spend time together without having to be far apart again" Diana looked at Emerta expectantly, hoping the word "yes" came out of her mouth.
Emerta smiles. Diana looked forward to her answer when she saw that smile. "I can't" Emerta said later, shattering Diana's hopes.
"There's still a lot to do here. My research is still continuing"
Diana frowned with a disappointed look.
"But don't worry. From now on I will visit you more often."
Diana's eyes immediately sparkled. "Eh? Really true?"
Emerta smiled as she nodded lightly. "Yes. I will visit you often. There is no need to come here too often because this place is not safe. Besides I want to see Evan's progress" he then looked at Eva who had just been listening. "I was late to see Eva because she was this big. I don't want that to happen to Evan."
