Chapter 7 The Little Thief

Prince Erick, Sayn, Berta and Eva are in one group. They get a small mission to catch a group of thieves that unsettle the capital. Not a dangerous mission at all. Even after they found out that the little thief was just a child.

Prince Erick and Sayn followed the little thief all the way to the slums that were near the gates of the capital. Prince Erick frowned as he looked at the condition before his eyes. Because, although there are still some poor people in his kingdom, the condition is not as severe.
Prince Erick subconsciously asked in a satirical tone. "Did your father not work?" he said to Sayn who was running beside him.
Sayn didn't bully him at all. His eyes looked forward and he kept running.
"Hey, I heard that not everyone gets magic training here. How could the little thief do that?" prince Erick asked again. But Sayn ignored him.
"Your kingdom is very weak. You won't be able to survive if you only have a few witches. I wonder how you can defend against the kingdom of Well." he quipped.
Sayn looked over quickly. This was the first time he responded to Prince Erick's words because Prince Erick compared his kingdom to the kingdom of Well which he did not like at all. It's like the Well government is better than them. He did not like her at all and gave a sharp look to Prince Erick. But he didn't say anything.
"Are you angry?" prince Erick raised both eyebrows. He smiled with a slightly mocking tone. "I don't think you'll care about the state of your own kingdom even if you're a prince"
"Whispering" Sayn exclaimed softly in a very cold tone. In an instant a killing aura shot out from his body. Prince Erick felt that way and stood by. But the aura disappeared quickly.
Sayn no longer served prince Erick's rant any further. He narrowed his eyes and left Prince Erick behind.
Prince Erick just shook his head. Then smile mischievously. "How should I tame a stray cat" he muttered as he looked at Sayn's back meaningfully.
His father wanted him to stay in this kingdom as a spy. To see how the kingdom works and steal some data on finance and defense. At first he thought the Kano kingdom would not last long as he looked at the children of that royal family. But who would have guessed that he would meet such an attractive prince.
The two men followed the thief until they found a small, inconspicuous hut in an urban corner. Then they flew and observed the small hut that was below them.
"He went inside" said Prince Erick, shaking his hair.
Sayn ignored him. He instantly disappeared quickly and arrived inside the hut in a second. Not forgetting he used magic to make his body become translucent.
Inside the small hut, there were five children. Sayn blinked in shock as she looked at him. The little thief took out his stolen item in front of everyone with a proud face. But then her facial expression changed as she knew that there was nothing in the bag. There are only a few sheets of paper. He suspected that it was a roll of money. There were no coins or jewelry or valuables in it.
The little thief lowered his head. Sayn could not see his expression. While the other children saw the little thief with a confused face.
The little thief raised his face and smiled. He said something and walked out of the hut. He closed the door of the hut and then struck a nearby tree in frustration.
Sayn and Prince Erick fell silent and looked at each other when they saw the incident. Somehow they became unable to move when they saw the situation.
"But the thief remains a thief" prince Erick muttered as he raised both hands.
"..." - ".Sayn paused for a moment before nodding softly.
The two young men went down and approached the little thief. The little thief was startled, trying to escape but Sayn immediately held his hand. Then use his magic to tie the little thief on the spot.
"You're so mean to little children" prince Erick quipped with a smile.
Sayn doesn't care. He looked at the little thief with a very intense gaze. Like he's going to devour her round and round.
Then, Eva and Berta suddenly emerged from the empty air. They had just teleported to this place.
Meanwhile, I observed the situation with a curious expression. Because now I can see the thief's face. He was a boy about 10 years old, with chubby cheeks and puppy-like eyes. I never thought that such a small child would become a thief and be famous throughout the capital.
"Why did you steal?" Sayn ignored everything and her gaze continued to focus on the little boy. This incident burned his heart a little. That little kid has to steal and live in the slums. The child also appears to act as the backbone of other children. After seeing all that, Sayn's heart pounded uncontrollably and she felt uneasy from the guilt.
The little thief bit his lips and did not reply at all.
Sayn wanted to use magic for the little thief, but I quickly stopped her. Because I don't agree at all that Sayn used mind magic for such a child.
"Let me ask"
I approached the boy slowly and looked him in the eye.
"How many brothers are you?" I immediately asked a slightly distorted question. Although actually I believe this is the most important question because the little guy stole it for this reason.
The little thief bit his lips nervously and said in a soft tone "five..."
"Do you have parents?" I asked again and the little thief shook his head slowly.
I started asking some light questions. And strangely, he answered all those questions. Eventually, we gathered all the information we wanted.
The little thief had five brothers. They are all orphans. And the parlors they live in are bankrupt because there is no cost so they have to survive in a small house. The little man was lucky to meet someone and that person taught him basic magic to steal from the rich. So that they can survive.
When I heard all the truth, I felt quite sad. Thinking how such a small child should do various ways to live. And instead end up as a fugitive to look for.
"We still have to catch him" Sayn said later. The other three people looked at him with serious eyes.
"He remains a criminal" he said coldly as he turned around.
I blinked my eyes, not believing. Is Sayn really this cruel? How can we let a child like this go to jail? Doesn't make any sense at all!
I wanted to voice my protest, but Prince Erick did it first. "How can you be so cruel?" said.
Sayn doesn't care about it. He pulled the little man's hand and led him into the hut. We all followed him. As we entered, the other children looked at us with confused faces.
"Say!"
Sayn turned around and looked at me meaningfully "leave it to me" he said later.
"uh?"
"I'll take care of this. Just chill. Our mission is complete. I'll finish it" he said solemnly. "You can go back"
"There's no way you're gonna let a kid as small as that be put to death for stealing, right?" prince Erick still persisted and looked at Sayn with a suspicious look.
"I'm not that stupid" said Shan coldly.
Sayn held the little thief's hand and took it to the other children. He used magic and the group of people instantly disappeared from before our eyes. Sayn took all the children teleporting somewhere.
I convinced Berta and Prince Erick to return. I believe in Sayn, for sure she will solve everything well. And sure enough, the next day we got word that the thief was caught and our mission was successful.
