Chapter 6 Robert and Duke
Robert really had no idea since when he was familiar with Duke. They had only met a few times since he was her daughter's magic teacher. But they often talk to each other because of that problem.
There is one thing that unites them. As they spoke, they would praise each other Eva. So they both really fit. But Robert didn't realize it.
Duke also often told her various problems and complaints. Makes her into an impingement of her frustration as well as her worries, as well as her right hand.
Robert had no idea he was Duke's right-hand man. It just goes naturally. And unconsciously he did.
One day the Duke recounts his anxiety about some of the spies who were watching their mansion. And everything had improved since he came back from the magic match.
"Can you help me put it together?" duke said while giving her a stack of documents. She lost her cold expression. "there are too many things I have to take care of so I really don't have time to do them"
"Alright" Robert agreed to her without a fight.
The document given by Duke is the identity of a number of spies he has killed.
"They come from different organizations" Robert murmured.
"Yes, that's why I'm confused as to which one I should destroy first" Duke said then with a wry smile. There are too many assassins and spies from different organizations. Their main headquarters are spread all over the World. The duke couldn't possibly have made the long journey to look for them.
Robert looked at the Duke silently. He was the type of man who acted immediately before thinking. He could defeat strong opponents easily. But not with a clever opponent. He will lose because he is impatient and easily trapped.
"I'll investigate" Robert said later.
"Hm?" The Duke raised his eyebrows in disbelief. He just told Robert to take care of the messy paperwork. Not investigating the case anymore.
"I'll help you" Robert said solemnly.
"Why?"
"Because Eva will be involved in it. I don't want him to be in danger" Robert replied later.
The duke nodded in agreement.that was a very accepted reason.
Robert began to investigate. At first it was very difficult because he had to investigate many organizations. He even asked some of the members from the Magic Tower who were currently adventuring to gather information.
But strangely it is effective. And he got some shocking and horrible facts. When he saw the documents in his hands, he hesitated to give them to Duke. But he still had to give that information to her for their safety.
Robert knocked on Duke's office. The mansion feels empty because the Duchess and Evan are still not back.
"Come in" the Duke replied.
Robert opened the office door and saw Duke sitting at his desk with a stack of documents.
"Did you find anything?" The Duke looked at Robert meaningfully.
After sighing, Robert replied "Yes".
He also began to submit the results of his investigation to Duke.
"All these assassins and spies were sent by many nobles" Robert began his explanation.
"What does that mean? Who're they?" The Duke asked in a cold tone. Like preparing to kill someone.
The Duke's body stiffened.
Robert began to explain the names of the nobles involved. Almost all the nobles from the royal faction were involved in this. "Marquis Zent is his leader" Robert ended his explanation for the perpetrators.

The Duke hit the table while gritting his teeth. "That goddamn noble.." he said with a horrible face. Not hiding his hatred at all. She had already agreed to her daughter's engagement to the crown prince to prevent this. Who would have thought that they broke that promise and still targeted her family?
"The king has promised that he won't touch my family. I'm sure these nobles are acting out of the king's watch." Duke gave his opinion. He did not want to suspect the king since they were very close. And the queen is his little cousin. "Especially Marquis Zent is a fat snake that is very disgusting" he continued, frowning in disdain.
Robert was silent for a moment before he continued "The King knows"
The Duke immediately flinched.
"The King was even worried that the Court faction would rebel. So he ordered Marquis Zent to stand guard. It was possible that all the things the nobles did were the king's orders" Robert gave his speculation.
Duke is still sculpting.
"I also have information that the crown prince went a long way to retrieve the family heirloom to deal with the Court faction's rebellion"

Subconsciously Duke poured all his strength into his hand, making the work table in front of him shatter apart.
"What rebellion? I'm not even interested in that rotten throne!" Duke yells. "They're really lying to me. They made my daughter into a medium of exchange by promising peace. But they were getting ready to attack me. Who would have thought that the King and his Son would be this cunning? That son of a bitch always chases after my daughter like he loves her. But it was just camouflage to protect his mask. They're real jerks!" The Duke hates the King and Denis even more. He also hated all the nobles involved.
He wants to retaliate. But if he did, news of the rebellion would spread throughout the kingdom. Putting his whole family in danger. She still had a baby in her family, so she could not act rashly to attack.
"ah! My poor eve!" The Duke felt regret for having already made her engage in a conflict like this. If only he had not agreed to the engagement. He did it because of the good faith of the king and the queen. They have been close friends for a long time. Diana was also good friends with the queen. So the Duke really trusted them.
Subconsciously Duke's eyes reddened as he held back his cries. Duke wants to cancel the engagement. But he can't. If he did it unilaterally then the royal faction would make them as the rebel party.
"I want to cancel Eva's engagement as soon as possible..." Duke mutters.
Robert's eyes sparkled brightly when he heard her.
"But it will be difficult in the present situation" the Duke said sadly. "Our family position is very weak now. If I break off the engagement then they will assume we are prepared to rebel. I must also prepare to receive attacks from all the Nobles. I'm not afraid to face it myself. But I have a baby and a wife who is very vulnerable to fighting. I don't want them to be in danger" Duke said with a look of despair.
Robert's eyes dimmed back.
If the engagement is cancelled. He will be attacked by all sides. While he had to face everything on his own.
For his own faction, the Duke did not trust him. The Duke did not trust Court's faction. They are like parasites to him. Always use their name for everything they do. And bad rumors are formed because of it.
If they were really attacked from all directions, the Court faction would not help them. Those sneaky people will only make two choices. Quiet yourself or turn to a royal faction for greater glory.
"We'll help" Robert opened his mouth. He looked at the Duke with determination. "The Magic Tower will help Duke Court. Eva is Dean's adopted granddaughter. When danger did occur, how could Dean not help. So take it easy" said Robert confidently. "If the worst happens. We'll be by your side."
Duke's eyes narrowed. "Thank you" he said sincerely. "But I wouldn't do something like that. I don't want to be considered a rebel. I will ask the King and Queen directly. After all, they were people close to me since we were kids. I need to know their minds. After knowing all that, I will decide on my next move" the Duke said firmly. "Do I have to attack or retreat..."
Robert nodded. "Tell us if you need help. We'll help"
