The silent atmosphere that night became a fitting friend for Rey to reflect on all her mistakes and deeds. I don't know what was in the mind of the 27-year-old man, occasionally he frowned but a moment later he smiled knot.
The sound of knocking on the door rang out, her name being called by a woman.
"Mas Rey, it's time for dinner!" Said the Household Assistant named BIk Sum.
"Yes Bik" Rey replied in a voice loud enough for Bik Sum to hear it.
A moment later Rey came out of her room and down the stairs to the dining room below.
In the dining room there was already Mama and Papa Rey who looked at him at a glance.
"Rey, let's eat, kid!" Mama Rey said while taking rice for her husband.
Rey sat down and flipped the plate to go get the rice. But his plate was taken over by his mother and switched to fetching him rice as well.
"That's it, Ma." Say Rey so her Mama stops scooping rice again onto her plate.
The three of them ate solemnly as usual, there was only the sound of spoons and forks clashing with plates.
The man sitting across from Rey looked at his son once in a while, as if he wanted to ask something but looked doubtful.
"Rey...." Finally he made a sound, issuing a baritone voice.
The man who is Papa Rey is very rarely chatty, he prefers to be quiet with what he thinks and more often told his wife who conveys her wishes to her son. Rey and her father are not in close contact. Rey thinks of her father as her boss or boss. Not like a father who sometimes cares about his children.
If this middle-aged man had already started to voice and call Rey himself, it meant that there was something important and concerning him to talk to his son, he said, it's not just something that he'll talk about. Papa Rey won't waste time discussing trivial and unimportant matters.
"Yes?" Rey looked at the handsome man at her age who was no longer young.
Rey was a little surprised and guess what his father wanted to discuss, Rey rarely communicates with him even just telling stories everyday. Rey was covered with it, and vice versa.
"Is there anything I want to talk about, after this can you leave my room?" Papa Rey looked at the face of his son who looked very similar to him, a blend of Turkey and Indonesia.
Rey scrunched her forehead, but she immediately nodded. If the Papa has said formal without calling himself Papa, or rather calling himself 'I' means this concerns his company and Rey's work. Rey sighed softly, he was lazy to discuss the new job he had in the last few months and his father knew clearly, he had to work there.
Mama Rey is indifferent to the words of her husband and son because she knows for sure this is about the company, so she does not want to interfere too deeply. He casually continued the dinner session which only ate fruits and vegetables without rice.
After finishing eating, Rey immediately followed her Papa who had moved first to the workspace on the second floor. The room was located right next to Papa's and Mama's room.
Rey came in after knocking on the door a few times.
"Sit down!" Greet Papa Rey.
Rey sat down and leaned back in the chair, right in front of her father who had also sat down.
Papa Rey took a deep breath before deciding to let out her words.
"Rey, Papa doesn't want to mince words. Explain what you've been doing at the Mental Hospital for the past few months!" The baritone's voice shocked Rey because of his words.
Rey was wide-eyed for a moment before she lowered her gaze. Rey thought for a while before she arranged the sentence she was about to convey as an explanation.
"I've made a mistake, Pa." Rey said with a trembling voice and wanted to be honest.
"What's that?" The man looked at the child with an intense gaze.
"I think Papa must have known, because Papa's people must have told you the mistake I made!" Rey looked up at the ceiling.
Papa Rey clucked then stood up from her position.
"Ck! papa told me, Papa doesn't want to mince Rey!" His voice slightly raised, drowning his son.
Rey was silent for a moment. He thinks that his father must know everything, his men must have always been following Rey all this time, and not Rey did not know. Today is bound to happen, only Rey didn't expect it to be this fast. Rey could not hide anything, however, if her father had asked and demanded an answer from his mouth, it did not mean he did not know anything. But her father just wanted to hear a confession from Rey's mouth.
"A few months ago, I-I made a mistake!" Rey was a little nervous though the confidence in her heart was so overwhelming that she said everything.
"Enough! You're too long-winded! now that Papa asks, you can answer yes or no!'
Rey nodded slowly. Papa Rey slightly walked to the corner of the room while holding her chest. Rey is like a convict being interrogated right now. Rey swallowed her saliva with some difficulty. Instantly a cold aura enveloped him, the leadership aura of his Papa seemed to come out at this very moment.
"The mistake you mean, do you like people's wives?"
"Just answer yes or no!" Papa Rey's voice rose as if a decree that could no longer be denied.
"You like people's wives, huh?"
"Yes"
"You know that's wrong?"
"Yes"
"You know besides she's somebody's wife, she's not sane, either?"
"Pa!!!" Now Rey's voice is rising as if against her Papa's words.
Papa Rey smiled wryly, as if mocking her own son.
"Kinan isn't crazy, he's just depressed!"
"Just the same! he's now in a mental hospital and taking your time! You're wasting time every day just visiting her!" Papa Rey's circus.
Suddenly Rey does not like the attitude of this papa, usually Papa Rey is not as chatty and talk a lot like this. Every word he said would usually be very difficult for Rey to hear. It was as if the words from his mouth were too expensive for him to listen to and express to others.
"Papa didn't expect Rey, your taste was terrible!" Again this man's words disturbed Rey's calmness.Rey's hands clenched. He hated his personal affairs to be interfered with. Moreover, his father's tone sounded sarcastic and mocking.
"Papa did not know what action I had taken that required me to be by his side! I've-"
Papa Rey raised her hand as if to tell Rey to stop talking and she didn't want to hear anything more.
"Stop! the one who should be by her side is her husband, not you!"
Rey took a deep breath and exhaled it violently. It was free to argue with this old man. Rey will lose. He is a businessman who is good at breaking other people's words and is good at finding loopholes to win.
"Then you want Papa what?" Challenge Rey.
"Leave her! If you really want to connect with women, make sure not with someone's wife and of course with a sane woman! whatever your social status will receive is important do not create a scandal that could affect the good name of the company!"
"If I still want to be like this, and I want to marry her how?" Challenge Rey again, don't lose.
Papa Rey's face was red as if wrathful with Rey's question. That's not a question anymore it's a statement Rey decided.
"If it's your decision, I'll make sure you get out of this family. And live like a wild cat out there! Begging others for food to eat leftovers!" The voice was very sounding vibrating when saying it. However, there is also a belief in each sentence. He doesn't even want to call himself 'Papa' anymore in front of Rey.
Rey nodded, she was already determined by her decision. It ruined Kinan's life. Maybe this is karma for him that must also be destroyed. Living without her parents' facilities is a nightmare. But reality is worse than that. It's all his own result.
"All right!" Rey said quietly but very calmly and confidently.
Papa Rey is shocked to not believe Rey's words.
"All right what? you want to obey me?" Papa Rey is still trying to think positively about Rey's answer.
"Well I'll go like a stray cat that's been kicked out!" Said Rey in a satirical tone. Then he turned around and headed for the exit of his Papa's study.
Rey didn't care a few times her father called her name and yelled threateningly at her who couldn't possibly live a hard life.
Rey shed a few tears, but soon she. The bitterness he experienced was no worse than what Kinan felt.
Rey goes into his room, he collects diplomas, health insurance, Sim, savings books and important papers that he has. He looked at some of the money left in his wallet. Then, he took out a Credit Card from the same wallet and left it on the nightstand along with the car keys.
Rey took some of the clothes she needed. Maybe this was all he was carrying and coming from his Papa's house - that's what he thought - chose to put it in a backpack instead of a suitcase, then immediately moved to get out of this big house.
